Jose Aldo vs. Max Holloway Unification Bout Confirmed, Reportedly Set For June 3

It looks like the featherweight division is no longer left in limbo. Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight title holder Jose Aldo’s next bout will not be at lightweight. Instead, he will compete in a unification match-up with interim champion Max Holloway. UFC President Dana White confirmed the bout to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. While White […]

Alistair Overeem is throwing his support behind Junior dos Santos at UFC 211.

‘The Reem’ and ‘JDS’ previously met at UFC on FOX 17 in December of 2015, where Overeem won the contest via second round knockout. The Dutchman then went on to muster up a four-fight win streak before having it snapped by heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in the first round of their title bout this past September.

Overeem is looking to get back in the win column when he takes on Mark Hunt at UFC 209 live on pay-per-view (PPV). Dos Santos on the other hand has a title bout of his own to look forward to against Miocic, as he will challenge for the title at UFC 211 this May. Overeem feels that if ‘JDS’ emerges victorious come fight night in Dallas, he’s first in line for a crack at the throne (quotes courtesy of MMA Mania):

“That would be very good for my title attempts if Junior would win,” Overeem said. “Because the rematch could be there. So I’m definitely rooting for Junior in this one, for a change.”

If Overeem does want next in the title picture, however, he has to get through ‘The Super Samoan’ first. The pair previously met under the Dream banner back in 2008. Overeem took home the win with a first round submission with an americana.

How do you see the rematch between Overeem and Hunt going down this time around?

Daniel Kelly: ‘I Feel as Good as I Have in The Last Couple of Years’

It’s safe to say Daniel Kelly is a humble mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor. You won’t catch Kelly badmouthing his UFC 209 opponent Rashad Evans. The four-time judo Olympian will meet the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight title holder on March 4 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Kelly may be relatively […]

Report: Jose Aldo vs. Max Holloway ‘A Done Deal’

Jose Aldo and Max Holloway will finally throw down inside the Octagon. Jose Aldo and Max Holloway will finally throw down inside the Octagon.

After defeating Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 this past July to win the then-interim UFC featherweight title, Aldo was promoted undisputed champion after Conor McGregor’s lightweight title win. Max Holloway went on to defeat Anthony Pettis in the main event of UFC 206 for another interim featherweight strap, setting up an inevitable unification bout between he and Aldo in the near future.

The time has reportedly come for ‘Blessed’ and ‘Scarface’ to determine who the true king at 145 pounds is, per a report from ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. UFC President Dana White was Okamoto’s latest guest on the 5ive Rounds podcast where he confirmed the ink is drying on the deal, but apparently couldn’t remember the date the two featherweights signed on for:

Holloway is currently on an amazing 10-fight win streak over some of the biggest names in the featherweight division such as Cub Swanson, Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens, Ricardo Lamas, and former lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis. Neither ‘Blessed’ or Aldo have lost inside the Octagon since their respective meetings with ‘The Notorious One’ Conor McGregor.

What card would you like to see Aldo and Holloway collide on? And who do you think will emerge victorious when the two finally meet inside the Octagon?

Jacare Souza: Michael Bisping has been a disaster for the UFC middleweight division

I get the feeling reigning 185-pound kingpin Michael Bisping is not popular among contending middleweights.

I dunno, just a hunch.

When he’s not busy taking fire from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) division No. 1 contender Yoel Romero (sample), “The Count” is dodging bullets from 185-pound mainstay Ronaldo Souza.

“He’s a disaster for the division,” the Brazilian told Calgary Sun. “He’s not putting his belt on the line so that’s making the division a mess. He’s a disaster. A disaster for the division. All he’s done is run, so he’s a disaster.”

At least he defends his title (kinda/sorta).

While Bisping rides the pine and waits for his knee to heal — as “Soldier of God” plays hide the cup — Souza stays busy with a 185-pound showdown with middleweight “Barbarian” Tim Boetsch at UFC 208 pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend in Brooklyn (details).

Anyone think we’ll ever see the day when Bisping fights “Jacare?”
