I’m not gonna be hard on Ronda Rousey for this video, simply because I don’t know jack shit about the Irish.

I couldn’t find Ireland on the map, I don’t know how to pronounce any Irish names — heck, I don’t even know what St. Patrick’s Day is all about. Probably because I’m a product of the United States educational system, which failed to implement its No Dumbass Left Behind policy until after I graduated.

That said, I did choose to celebrate by getting a green bagel this morning, because nothing screams “holiday spirit” like Propylene Glycol combined with Fd&C Yellow 5 and Fd&C Blue 1.

But I digress.

Rousey was recently put on the spot by the gang at SportsJOE.ie and asked to pronounce 10 Irish names. As expected, she bombed the pop quiz (one for 10) but did manage to have a sense of humor about the ordeal — which I’m sure will please this guy.

“Rowdy” is expected to return to UFC later this year to challenge reigning women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, in words I never thought I would type this time last year.

So, who’s up for a Shamrock Shake?

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is still considered among the greatest fighters of all time, and his influence on 170-pound history is simply undeniable. He was one of the most dominant fighters in a heavily talented welterweight division, rising to the top by beating fellow legend Matt Hughes in their second fight in 2006. It seems a lifetime ago that GSP won that belt at UFC 65: Bad Intentions, and it’s crazy how much things have changed in the ten years since. The sport has rolled on without the physical presence of ‘Rush’ for nearly three years now.

After defeating Johny Hendricks in a highly debated UFC 167 split decision, a clearly disheartened St-Pierre gave up the belt and walked out of the limelight. That moment created months of chaos, and ever since the fight game has collectively wondered if/when GSP will return. With the historic UFC 200 just around the corner, the rumours of a return for ‘Rush’ have been rampant.

It would seem fitting for GSP to comeback at the second milestone event for the promotion, as he fought Thiago Alves at the UFC 100 blockbuster card, which remains the biggest pay-per-view card for the promotion to date. One fight that is often referenced to when discussing St-Pierre is the first fight with Matt Serra, which was also the French Canadian’s first title defense. After decimating Hughes the fight before, many believed GSP would steam roll over Serra, who was coming off a victorious stint on the Ultimate Fighter 4 to get the title shot.

What happened is still widely considered as the biggest MMA upset ever, as Serra caught St-Pierre with some hard punches, flattening him to steal the belt in a wild frenzy.

The Colorado State Boxing Commission didn’t take long to release WSOF champ Justin Gaethje from his suspension.

Apparently cage flips aren’t that serious in the eyes of a certain athletic commission after all. The Colorado State Boxing Commission took a hard stance against World Series of Fighting lightweight champion Justin Gaethje following his quick win over Brian Foster this week, issuing him an indefinite suspensions for doing something they asked him not to do – his patented flip off the cage following a victory. So how long did the suspension last?

An entire day.

According to MMA Fighting (via MMA Weekly), CSBC director Josef Mason decided to lift the suspension after speaking to Gaethje about his actions. He explained that Gaethje’s flip put state and event workers in danger, in addition to himself. And that the suspension was meant to be put in place until they talked to him, which they did. So Gaethje is free and clear now.

Gaethje (16-0, 9-0 WSOF) defended his title again in under two minutes with a vicious TKO stoppage of Brian Foster via leg kicks.

Werdum calls McGregor a ‘prostitute’, says he would ‘hit him with a chair’ if disrespected

Fabricio Werdum is about done with Conor McGregor’s antics and vows to act like a ‘thug’ if McGregor ever does anything disrespectful in front of him. He would also welcome a superfight with Jon Jones after his match with Stipe Miocic on May 14.

Fabricio Werdum does not take kindly to Conor McGregor’s shenanigans.  Still stewing about the time during the MMA Awards when McGregor teased him, the current UFC heavyweight champion told Combate that he has had enough of him.

In fact, Werdum said that if McGregor tried to pull the same stunt he did with Jose Aldo, when he snatched Aldo’s belt during a press conference, he would hit him with a chair.

“If we’re even in the same place, I don’t want him saying anything to me or trying to do anything to me. I won’t just stand there.  I’m not going to taunt him, but if he does, I will hit him with a chair, for real. If he tries to snatch my belt, I would first have a go at Dana White. I would go crazy, like a thug. In a staredown, you never touch your opponent. Everything is already so tense and the guy goes and touches you?

“Conor started out well, but then he went over the line, he started talking about Jesus. He just looks like a clown. In Brazil, we call them prostitutes, because they  do anything for money. He’s a sellout. Of course it’s important to fight for money, but that guy will sell out for anything. I wouldn’t doubt he would sell out his ass. I wouldn’t do it.”

But speaking about his career, Werdum told Combate he also welcomes a superfight with Jon Jones if the former light heavyweight champion ever decides to go up a weight class.

“I always say Jon Jones has always been a heavyweight. He’s my height and weighs about 235 pounds when he’s not training. I always saw him as a heavyweight who cuts weight. I think it’s a great fight. I must focus on Miocic first and then think about Jones. I want to win that first, then I think about Jon Jones.”

Fabricio Werdum is expected to take on Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 198, in Curitiba, Brazil, on May 14. The event will be held at a soccer stadium with a capacity for over 40 thousand people.
