Donald Cerrone answers fan questions, laughs at suggestion he’s ‘scared’ to fight Conor McGregor

How can anybody not love Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone? Well, other than the horde of Conor McGregor fans who have jumped on that crowded bandwagon?

The WEC and UFC veteran was answering fan questions in Pittsburgh prior to his UFC Fight Night 83 appearance this Sunday (Feb. 21, 2016), laughing at the hostility of McGregor fans.

One such comment made reference to McGregor’s statement that Cerrone is a “quitter” because he lost so quickly to Rafael dos Anjos during their lightweight title fight at UFC on FOX 17. “Cowboy” had an answer to that one.

“Conor called me a quitter but I didn’t even get started in that fight. So how can you call me a quitter when I got ass whipped before I even got started? That’s what I want to know,” he said, pausing to reflect upon the stupidity of the comment. “Damn people are… (smiling). Well, I appreciate it but you know what I’ma keep on fightin’ and I’ma keep on drinkin’ beer so, uh, fuck you, how about that?”

Cerrone also settled the question of whether he’s “scared” to fight Conor McGregor:

“Why would you even say that? I’m a fighter, that’s what I do. You people are funny. You fans at home crack me up, especially the ones that talk shit. And I wish there were repercussions for you being able to talk shit. I don’t think you should be able to hide behind your computer and write things and talk shit. I wish you would come to my face and say it because then I would slap the shit out of you.”

Cerrone has compiled an impressive 28-7 mixed martial arts (MMA) record in a career that began in 2006, gaining fans by his frequent appearances. When asked when the 32-year-old might hang em up, Cerrone said he’s going to keep fighting until they bring him in with “a walker” or he can’t do it anymore.

Whichever comes first.

Cerrone said he wishes he could talk to fans more often, despite their “shitty” comments, because it “cracks him up” and makes him smile. But, he added fans also drive fighters “crazy” with their trash talk, as evidenced by Ronda Rousey’s recent suicide remarks.

“She probably talked about committing suicide because all you people were talking shit about her. At first she was the greatest thing ever walked the Earth, then she loses and everyone of ya’ll talked shit. It’s just crazy.”

That would explain why Rousey is unlikely to appear on a Jimmy Kimmel episode of Mean Tweets any time soon.

A few other rapidfire answers:

Q: How’s that glass chin?
A: It’s not a glass chin, it’s a “fucked up liver.” From drinking.

Q: Will you wear your famous patch on your shorts Sunday?
A: 100% yes.

Q: Are you cutting weight to 170 pounds?
A: No, I’m eating to make 170.

Q: How’s Pittsburgh?
A: Freezing. Has his hoodie up and parka on. “Keeps the beer cold though, don’t it?”

Q: What are your true thoughts on the Reebok deal?
A:  Points out he’s wearing a Reebok hoodie and laughs. “After my reprimanding I love Reebok so it’s probably my favorite brand right now.”

The final word?

“I live life to the fullest, I fucking drink beer and party and that’s what I do. I enjoy it.”

Cerrone Fully Aware of Reebok Fines

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (28-7) will be fighting Alex Oliveira (13-3) on Sunday at UFC Fight Night 83. This will be Cowboy’s Welterweight debut against the Brazilian. Cerrone is coming off of a 155 title loss to Rafael Dos Anjos in December.

He made headlines after the bout after receiving a hefty fine for having a small stitch on his mandatory Reebok shorts that featured an American flag. According to ESPN, the Jackson trained fighter says he will probably wear the same patch for Sunday’s fight in Pittsburgh despite potential fines.

“There’s a good chance I will, yeah” Cowboy said.

Donald Cerrone is slated to make $20,000 in Reebok sponsorship money on Sunday, according to the UFC Outfitting policy.

Travis Browne talks about supporting girlfriend Ronda Rousey following difficult UFC 193 loss

You know your girlfriend is famous when your official title in international media is “Ronda Rousey’s boyfriend”. Travis Browne been Bryan Caraway’d.

Rousey made the news recently when the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion told Ellen Degeneres that when she was at her lowest point following the loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 she briefly considered ending it all.

Whether the mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar and film actress really considered suicide is unknown, but she did say her “man” pulled her out of that funk:

“To be honest, I looked up and saw my man, Travis, and thought, ‘I need to have his babies, I need to stay alive [laughs].’ I haven’t told anyone that except him. That’s what I was thinking, I was meant to have him when I was at my lowest.”

I talked about how I’m in love with this girl named Ronda.

— Travis Browne (@travisbrowneMMA) February 19, 2016

Browne recently spoke to Activ8Media about how “it feels great to be in love with Ronda Rousey”, and how he helped her through a difficult time in her life.

“I was there to support her in any way I could, just like any man would do for his woman. It’s pretty simple. There’s no magic in it. We go through those dark times and we need someone to lean on. I hate the fact that she had to go through that dark time, but like she said, it happened for a reason and there’s a great purpose. This is our story and this is our life, and I would go through hell and back for her.”

Hell and back? Dude, ixnay on the ell and back hay, some of us get annoyed when the wife asks us to pick up hot dog buns on our way home.

Rousey and Browne have been relatively private about their relationship since going public about it last October (for reasons that are both obvious and otherwise), but Browne said people “don’t see how wonderful it is.”

“It’s a relationship between Ronda and myself, and we keep it that way.”

Browne was suspended by UFC last year after being accused of domestic abuse by his ex-wife, but an investigation by a former FBI agent hired by the company to look into the matter found no evidence of wrongdoing.

His last bout inside the Octagon came against Matt Mitrione at UFC Fight Night 81, a fight he won in controversial fashion by twice poking his opponent in the eyes inadvertently.
