The trilogy between boxing stars Canelo Álvarez and Gennady ‘Triple G’ Golovkin is set for September 17th at a TBD location.

Golovkin announced the booking of his trilogy with Canelo in a post on his Instagram page.

“It’s official! See you on September 17,” Golovkin posted.

Shortly after the initial announcement, Golovkin posted a hype video featuring himself and Canelo to get fans excited for the trilogy.

“The Trilogy,” Golovkin captioned.

Canelo and Golovkin initially fought in 2017, with the fight going to a draw and Canelo retaining his boxing titles. The rematch was booked a year later as Canelo defeated Golovkin by a decision.

Golovkin has won four boxing fights in a row, including most recently against Ryota Murata and Kamil Szeremeta.

The trilogy comes after Canelo’s first boxing defeat in nine years to Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title earlier this month. Before that, he had gone on one of the most impressive winning streaks in the history of the sport, with recent wins over Caleb Plant and Billy Joe Saunders.

Canelo had been linked to a potential crossover fight with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and there has been interest from both sides. But it seems as if the chances of that happening are on the backburner, at least for now.

The Canelo vs. Golovkin trilogy had been agreed upon back in 2020, but the fight never came to fruition.

The winner will cap off one of the most electric boxing rivalries in the history of the sport. Five middleweight titles will be on the line when Canelo and Golovkin get in the ring for a third, and more than likely final time.

Are you pumped for Canelo vs. Triple-G 3?

It’s not unusual for UFC fighters to get drunk at live events.

But most of the harm they cause is self inflicted (just ask this guy). Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case when beer-banging “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone buddied up with social media personality Dan Bilzerian for the UFC 235 pay-per-view (PPV) card back in early 2019.

That’s according to event headliner Anthony Smith.

“Dan Bilzerian and Donald Cerrone removed my mom and my wife from their seats while I’m getting ready to fight Jon Jones,” Smith told Michael Bisping (transcribed by Ross Markey). “I was fucking furious. If I had seen Dan Bilzerian … because I had found out about it right after I got to the back, and if I had seen him then, I would have fucking torn his head off, I was so mad.

“They come and they wanna sit down and watch the fight, but they’re fucking hammered,” Smith continued. “Like, just shithouse drunk. And so they tell them that those are their seats. My mom doesn’t know Dan Bilzerian or Donald Cerrone — my wife knows who Donald is, but she doesn’t know him — and [my mom] doesn’t know who this short, tight shirt, funky-ass hat-wearing jerk is. She just knows that these are her seats and she’s about to watch her son fight for a world title.

“Dan ends up being next to my mom, and then during the fight, is watching porn on his phone,” Smith said. “During the fight he’s sitting there watching porn. And my mom’s super uncomfortable, like she’s not a … she’s weirded out. She’s a quiet lady, real shy. It was just a whole fucking ordeal.”

Smith dropped an “embarrassing” decision to Jones after five rounds of tepid action.

The 39 year-old Cerrone is widely considered one of the most fan-friendly fighters on the roster. But despite his good standing with UFC — thanks to his “anyone, anytime” approach to competing — “Cowboy” is not without his share of controversy.

Let’s just hope he can make it to fight No. 50 without incident (and without Bilzerian).

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion says she’s “shrinking” ahead of her flyweight debut.

Miesha Tate is on target for her debut in a new weight class.

Tate has decided to move from bantamweight to flyweight, and the former UFC champion shared her progress ahead of her upcoming fight against Lauren Murphy at UFC 276 in July.

“I’m shrinking…oddly enough I knew making flyweight (125 lbs) was going to require my body to change, but yet going through the process has still be [sic] surprising at every turn,” wrote Tate on her official Facebook page.

Tate returned to competition after retiring over five years ago and defeated Marion Reneau via third-round technical knockout at UFC Vegas 31 this past July. Hoping to earn another championship opportunity, ‘Cupcake’ wanted to stay busy and was scheduled to fight Ketlen Vieira in her next appearance. Unfortunately, she suffered a unanimous decision loss at UFC Vegas 43 in November.

Nearly a month after her loss to Vieira, longtime friend and training partner of Tate — Julianna Peña — defeated Amanda Nunes via second-round rear-naked choke for the bantamweight championship. Because of that win, the shift in the division led to Tate considering a change in weight class.

“It’s something I’ve definitely thought about, but I definitely don’t want people to think that I’m running at 135,” Tate said in an interview with Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie. “I hate the idea of leaving a division on a loss, it really bugs me. Something really bothers me about that, about leaving the division on a loss. It’s something I’ve thought about, but at the same time, I feel like I need more time to digest all of that. It’s not out of the question by any means, but it would be a long process if I’m gonna get down to 125. You probably know I’ve been pretty vocal that I’m not a fan of big weight cuts, so I would definitely have to do some things to change my body to get down at that weight, but it’s not something that’s way out in left field.

“It’s definitely something that I feel like could be an option,” continued Tate. “I just have to decide to. I’m definitely leaning towards staying at 135, especially with the change-ups and everything like that and seeing what’s happening there, but 125 is definitely not out of the question.”

Now that she has committed to flyweight, Tate will get her first test in the division opposite of a one-time title challenger and No. 2 ranked contender. The aforementioned Murphy was previously on a five-fight win streak before losing to reigning flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko via fourth-round technical knockout at UFC 266.

UFC welterweight, Kevin Holland, has recounted yet another heroic deed, this time the pulling a man out of a flipped tractor-trailer.

Since his breakout year in 2020, Kevin Holland has quickly become a fan favorite. With an exciting style and a ‘big mouth’, Holland is can’t miss television. Recently, though, it’s not been his in-cage antics that have captivated fans, instead it’s his acts of heroism; this time pulling a man out of an overturned vehicle.

“I’m driving down the road,” Holland said talking to MMAFighting. “Enjoying some good old 80s and 90s music, just cruising. It’s fast but it’s cruising, and then I look over to the right hand side and this guy looked like he was trying to get on the freeway pretty quick.”

“I looked back straight. I looked back to the right hand side and he’s sliding sideways. I’m like gosh. I pull the Regal over, glad I put the new brakes on there. Hopped out, ran over there, jumped on top, ripped the door open, got the guy out.”

Holland explains that unlike other situations that he has been in, he felt genuine fear this time, but the man had other plans and even returned to the truck to retrieve his belongings, only to be helped out by Holland again.

“I get the guy out, there’s fluids flowing out of the car, I get the guy out of the truck and I’m scared,” Holland said. “Every other time things have happened, I’ve been calm, cool and collected. This time, I’m scared. I’m like the truck’s going to blow up. The guy gets back in his truck! He’s like ‘I need my phone.’ I’m like bro, I got a second phone in the car, you don’t need your phone. We’ve got to go. He’s like ‘I’ve got to go get my shit.’

“So I help him get out the second time, and I’m like bro, we’ve got to go. He’s like, ‘I think I need something else out of the truck.” my ass in the car.”

Kevin Holland’s good deeds

Back in March of this year, Holland helped apprehend a gunman in a restaurant in his hometown of Houston.

Holland explained while eating at a restaurant a man had opened fire, letting off a shot, so Holland was quick to jump to action. While another man began to wrestle with the shooter, Holland grabbed the man, pulled him into his lap before wrapping his legs around him and applying a rear-naked choke.

“As soon as he was [asleep],” Holland said. “I let go of the choke, slid out on top, got full mount, stretched the arms out so he couldn’t reach for anything.”

The police would eventually arrive and arrest the suspect, Jesus Samaniego, who was eventually charged with deadly conduct and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

What’s your take on Kevin Holland?
