Most fight fans take the Spider’s 185-pound supremacy at face value, but the ones who don’t point to Sonnen as the reason, and Chael is just fine with that.
The self-styled “American gangster” has called the champ out at each and every opportunity, trying to goad both Silva and the UFC into giving him the second chance he so covets.
That encore has yet to materialize—Sonnen had some much-publicized issues with various authorities in the wake of his near-upset in San Jose, while the Brazilian has added a couple more names to his hitlist in the meantime.
But both men are coming off impressive victories, and the time seems to be ripe for a rematch.

UFC 137 is set to take place October 29 from Las Vegas and will feature a welterweight title fight between the Champ George St-Pierre vs. No. 1 contender Carlos Condit.
In the co-main, the legendary B.J. Penn will be taking on the enigmatic Nick Diaz. St-Pierre was originally scheduled to take on Diaz while Penn was set to take on Condit, but due to the shenanigans of Diaz, the UFC was forced to pull the old switcheroo.
Also in action: the unflappable Roy Nelson will be taking on aging legend Mirko “Cro Cop” in one of two heavyweight tilts; the other being a scrap between hard hitting gatekeeper Cheick Kongo and undefeated up and comer Matt Mitrione.
Rounding out the main card is a featherweight battle between No. 2 ranked in the world Hatsu Hioki—who will be making his UFC debut—vs. the formidable and hard-hitting but streaky George Roop.
B/R MMA Editor Brian Oswald breaks down each fight in rapid fire succession and gives his predictions, which you can take to the bank.
