Dana White has just announced on his Twitter account that tickets for UFC 140 in Toronto will go on sale next weekend, and the main event is Jon “Bones” Jones vs. Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida.
Rashad Evans has yet to comment on the situation, having had a history of getting stiffed on his title shot. He was all but guaranteed a shot after his win over Tito Ortiz, but he injured his hand in the process.
Lyoto Machida is coming off a knockout victory over Randy Couture at UFC 129. Machida offered to replace Phil Davis in a bout against Evans, but he wanted too much money, so Dana White didn’t add him to the fight.
Instead, Ortiz took the fight and was defeated by Evans, who injured his hand. Evans recently had the pins in his hand removed and is able to start training again in three weeks.
After his bout with Rampage Jackson, Jon Jones had some issues with his feet. It is interesting how quickly Jones is turning around from his injury, while Evans still waits on the sidelines.
With Jones’ fight against Machida now happening on December 10th, Evans won’t get a shot at Jones until at least February or March.
Will Evans choose to wait out the fight again?
Or, will he choose to fight once he is healed to prevent cage rust?
