Some of those champions will defend their belt successfully, some will not.

Everyone loves an underdog story.  A story about a person or team overcoming great odds to emerge victorious.

With the UFC planning six events between now and Labor Day, there will be plenty of opportunities for upsets.

In mixed martial arts, anything can happen and results can sometimes be hard to predict.

Nothing is better than watching someone do something that the majority of the world thinks he’s incapable of doing.

That’s why you will want to be certain to catch these seven UFC fights that are on tap over the course of the next couple of months.

The UFC announced a slew of August fights on Tuesday, which has now basically set the promotion’s summer schedule.

From this weekend’s UFC on Fuel TV 10 through Labor Day, the UFC has eight events on top.

Over the course of these eight events, we will be treated to several title fights.  We will also enjoy fights between some of the promotion’s biggest stars.  We’ll also see some of the organization’s fastest-rising stars.

On April 27, 2013, Jon Jones will enter the cage and the door will slam shut.  He’ll go toe-to-toe, nose-to-nose with Chael Sonnen for the UFC’s Light Heavyweight Championship.

Jones is the reigning champion and, after having decimated the ranks of the 205-pound division, finds himself running short on competition.

The challenger Sonnen is coming off of a second-round TKO loss to 185-pound champion Anderson Silva.

Despite the fact that we’re more than six months from fight night, I believe that we can already reasonably assess the winners and losers from this fight.

The UFC is currently going through an extended period of inactivity.

The last UFC event on March 2nd ended with a spectacular come-from-behind submission victory for Martin Kampmann. It was an exciting fight, with an exciting finish.

And then there was nothing.

No Pay Per View cards. No UFC on Fox, FX or Fuel TV.

Sure, The Ultimate Fighter 15 has started. The fights are even aired live on Friday nights. It’s a very cool idea. It’s just not the same as getting amped up for a night of fights with people you’ve actually heard of before.

Luckily for us, the UFC will be back on April 14th with the UFC on Fuel TV 2.

From that point on for the foreseeable future, the UFC is going to be producing events at a fast and furious pace.

The list of great fights on these cards is nearly endless.

Today, we’ll discuss the eight scheduled fights that I am most looking forward to.
