Frankie Edgar is a fighter who is hard to root against. He has that warrior spirit and can never be counted out of a fight. People thought he couldn’t beat BJ Penn. Edgar did it two times. People thought Edgar wouldn’t beat Gray Maynard in the trilogy fight. Edgar stopped Maynard in the fourth round at UFC 136.

After two close defeats to lightweight champion Benson Henderson, in fights people thought Edgar won, the former champion returns to action tomorrow night.

This time, Edgar is returning in a different weight class.

Edgar is moving down to featherweight and will face off against UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 156. Can Edgar become the champion tomorrow night or will Aldo be too much?

Let’s take a look and see why you should be rooting for the former lightweight champion.

When your opponent has been guaranteed something and you haven’t, that provides extra motivation for you whether you want to admit it or not. That is what Antonio Silva is feeling heading into tomorrow night, when he will square off against Alistair Overeem at UFC 156.

Dana White stated yesterday that if Overeem gets by Silva, he will get the next title shot against heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. For Silva, nothing has been guaranteed.

Silva already lost to Velasquez last year at UFC 146, but rebounded and defeated Travis Browne at UFC on FX 5 last October. People aren’t really giving Silva a chance tomorrow night, so let’s take a look and see why you should cheer for the Brazilian against Overeem.

Dana White Happy to Be out of the Randy Couture Business

You never know how one person truly feels about another until they have left you. With Dana White, we now know he feels about Randy Couture.

According to MMA reporter Brett Okamoto, White had this to say about UFC Hall of Fame fighter Randy Couture’s signing a contract with Spike TV and being a coach on the upcoming Bellator reality show:

Couture, who retired from the sport after his loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 129 in April of 2011, had only been making UFC appearances doing analyst work on the UFC on Fox shows.

“The Natural” is one of two fighters to hold titles in different weight classes, when he won the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles. Couture, though, hasn’t always had the greatest relationship with the UFC.

After retaining his heavyweight title over Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 74 in 2007, Couture quit the promotion after not getting a fight in the UFC with Fedor Emelianenko. Couture ended up returning one year later, losing the title to Brock Lesnar.

The UFC has hired some fighters from the early era of Zuffa, as they hired Chuck Liddell and last week hired Matt Hughes to executive positions within the company.

Couture didn’t do analyst work at the UFC on Fox 6 show last Saturday and was replaced in the booth by light heavyweight fighter Chael Sonnen. At least now we know why Couture wasn’t in the booth.

When you talk about dominant champions in the sport, you think of Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre and then Jose Aldo. The featherweight champion won the title from Mike Brown in 2009 when the WEC was still around. The WEC merged with the UFC, and Aldo was declared the UFC featherweight champion.

Aldo has made six defenses of the title, having defeated the likes of Urijah Faber, Kenny Florian and Chad Mendes. On Saturday night, Aldo gets his toughest test to date when he faces off with former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC 156.

A lot of fans still don’t know a lot about the champion from Brazil. Let’s take a look and see why you should be rooting for Jose Aldo on Saturday night.

When it is a UFC fight week, you can expect at least one thing—a Dana White video blog. This is White’s first video blog of the week, as UFC 156 takes place on Saturday night from Las Vegas.

To begin the video blog, White hypes up UFC 156. White states that the card is so sick, he has to look down to remember who is on the card. White says that this is one of the sickest pay-per-view cards in a long time, and the company has been on a great streak this year with good cards.

The video features behind-the-scenes footage of some of the fights from UFC on Fox 6 this past Saturday night. Some of the highlights include White talking to former UFC fighter David Terrell about Meniere’s disease, as White just had the surgery and Terrell had the surgery in the past. Another highlight was Lorenzo Fertitta trying to put cheese in White’s sport coat, as White did it to Fertitta at UFC 155 last month.

Three Reasons to Root for Jon Fitch at UFC 156

Many times in life you have a year that you would like to have back and just start over.

The year of 2012 can be described as that for Jon Fitch. The welterweight had ended 2011 with a 12-second knockout loss to Johny Hendricks at UFC 141.

Fitch must have been chomping at the bit to get that taste out of his mouth and was supposed to face Aaron Simpson at UFC on Fuel TV 4 last July. Fitch suffered a partially torn ACL, however, and had to bow out of the fight.

The former title contender did get a fight in this year, as Fitch won fight of the night with his victory over Erick Silva at UFC 153 last October.

The American Kickboxing Academy fighter kicks off his 2013 early, as he squares off on Saturday against Demian Maia in a key welterweight bout on the main card of UFC 156.

This is a big fight in the welterweight division, with the winner moving a step closer to a title shot and the loser getting severely pushed back in a stacked division.

If Fitch wants to get another crack at the belt, a win is a necessity on Saturday.

Let’s take a look at the reasons you should root for Jon Fitch at UFC 156.
