Mixed martial arts continues its move into the global mainstream as one of the sport’s biggest names stars in a new car commercial.
UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva shows off both his serious and affectionate sides in a recent ad for Ford in Brazil.
In the commercial, which also stars famous Brazilian actress Deborah Secco, a flustered car salesman is having trouble memorizing all the aspects of the car company’s “It’s Your Decision” promotion. Secco tells him to pretend that he is under pressure in order to improve his skills.
The scene cuts to the salesman alone in a ring with an intimidating looking Silva, forcing him to reel off the details of the deal.
Afterwards, the salesman tries to steal a kiss from Secco, only to find himself back in the ring with Silva looking for a kiss of his own.
This new ad is a part of an ongoing campaign that Silva and Secco have been a part of promoting Ford’s Fiesta model.
This humorous piece is just the latest addition to his commercial career, as the middleweight champion has been a part of many humorous campaigns in the past.
Earlier this year, Silva lip synced a rendition of Minnie Riperton’s “Loving You” to promote Burger King’s Mega Stacker. The ad also ran in Silva’s home country of Brazil.
As Silva’s star continues to rise, the champion will look to further his reign as he is set to have a rematch with former top contender Chael Sonnen, which is rumored to take place in Brazil sometime in 2012.
