Despite his global star power, reigning UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor has always said that he’s fully focused on the fight game rather than show business which is why it wasn’t surprising to see him shoot down the idea of performing in the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) during a conference call yesterday (August 6, 2016) ahead of his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz.
Not only did the “Notorious” one shoot down the idea, but he also blasted professional wrestlers, labeling them as ‘p*ussies’. This included former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar who recently made his return to MMA at UFC 200 only to test positive for a banned substance, something McGregor just can’t respect:
“For the most part, those WWE guys are p*ssies, to be honest,” McGregor said. “They’re messed up p*ssies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock [Lesnar], he got in and fought, but at the end of the day he was juiced up to the f*cking eye balls, so how can I respect that? And then what’s the other guy? The other guy hasn’t fought yet, so I don’t know about him yet.”
As far as ‘the other guy’ goes, McGregor is referring to Philip ‘CM Punk” Brooks, who will make his mixed martial arts debut at UFC 203 on September 10 in Cleveland. Continuing on, the “Notorious” did show some respect for some of the WWE’s biggest names, although overall he once again considered pro wrestlers ‘p*ussies’:
“There’s some dons in that wrestling game,” McGregor said. “The McMahons, they’re dons. Triple H is a don. The Rock is a don. But the rest of them are p*ssies.”
At the end of the day, McGregor reiterated the idea that he’s focused on fighting, with no time for show business:
“I haven’t really thought of that to be honest,” he said. “Again, that’s a little more show business. This is the fight business.”
Do you see McGregor getting his revenge on Diaz in just a few short weeks?
