On Saturday, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will engage in one of the most highly anticipated fights in MMA history.
Since suffering a fifth-round submission loss in his first bout against Silva, Sonnen has been selling a rematch as only he could. At UFC 148, all Sonnen’s trash talking will finally pay off in the form of a second chance at dethroning the greatest champion the sport has ever seen.
To add to the excitement for this fight card, UFC legend Tito Ortiz will step into the Octagon for the final time, as he plans to retire regardless of the fight’s outcome following his rubber match with Forrest Griffin. Ortiz and Griffin fought to close decisions in their first two meetings, with each competitor earning a split decision win over the other.
Additionally, Cung Le will return to the cage for a bout against Patrick Cote and Demian Maia will make his welterweight debut against Dong Hyun Kim. Recent featherweight title challenger Chad Mendes will also attempt to get back on a winning track against Cody McKenzie, who has decided to drop to 145 pounds.
To promote UFC 148, which will be held at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, a pre-fight press conference will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET. Event headliners Silva and Sonnen will likely join UFC president Dana White for the presser.
Video of the press conference will be streamed live on the above video player. After the presser, stay tuned to Bleacher Report MMA for all the latest on UFC 148 and the rest of your MMA needs.
