The UFC has put out a trailer for The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3, pushing focus on the previously announced on-set brawl between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva.
Sonnen and Silva have been at odds since 2012, when Sonnen was pushing for a rematch with then-middleweight-champion Anderson Silva, and in the process systematically insulted every high-profile Brazilian fighter from Jose Aldo to Lyoto Machida. Sonnen and Silva have been taking swipes at each other for the past year and a half, and the rivalry has been intense.
Nary a week goes by without some form of news of the craziness of TUF: Brazil 3 thus far, which seemingly came to a head with the above on-set brawl. When the news was first announced, it garnered the standard array of reactions that one can expect from an announcement regarding the long-running reality show, including unquestioning excitement, eye-rolling and shrugs. You can see a small slice of it yourself in the trailer above.
How “real” the fight is, and how wacky the season is remains to be seen, but the questions will be answered soon enough. Either way, it seems like the UFC is going all-in on the Sonnen-Wanderlei Silva rivalry, rather than the budding talent the show looks to feature (it’s also worth noting that Silva was signed on to coach in spite of being one of the single worst coaches in The Ultimate Fighter history).
The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 will begin airing March 9. It will air on Globo in Brazil, while the rest of the world will be able to see it only on UFC Fight Pass.
