A women’s strawweight fight between Piera Rodriguez and Ariane Carnelossi ended with a disqualification earlier today (Sat., May 18, 2024) at UFC Vegas 92 LIVE on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, after Rodriguez landed an illegal headbutt in the second round.

Rodriguez was a pretty sizeable favorite for this undercard affair, but Carnelossi was connecting with some good shots early. That’s until Rodriguez scored a nice takedown and controlled the fight from top. Rodriguez turned her efforts up on the feet in the second round and was able to change levels again and to get top control.

Unfortunately, Rodriguez inadvertently landed a headbutt as Carnelossi fought off her back. The referee saw it and warned Rodriguez to watch her advancements. Again, Rodriguez came down with her chin tucked and she headbutted Carnelossi in the face. This time, the action was stopped and Carnelossi was given five minutes to recover.

Unlike most time stoppages, Carnelossi took the full five minutes to decide whether or not she was going to continue. At the end of the clock the referee was forced to wave the fight off. Rodriguez was clearly upset, but the replay showed a clean headbutt two times.

Anthony Cacace pulled off a huge upset win earlier today (Sat., May 18, 2024) at Ring of Fire live on DAZN PPV in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as the Irishman handed IBF super featherweight champion Joe Cordina his first career loss with a eighth-round TKO.

This fight offered a little bit of controversary in the early going. The two featherweights were tied up in a clinch in the middle of the ring. They were eventually broken up, but during the break Cacace landed a vicious punch that stuck Cordina and had him hurt. It was a close call, but no points were taken and the fight continued. Unfortunately for Cordina, he was never the same.

Cacace was able to use his length and distance control to do some solid damage to Cordina. He even scored a massive knockdown in Round 3 that the champion somehow recovered from. The action would continue only to see Cacace turn the pressure up in the eighth round and land a massive combination along the ropes. The referee was watching close and eventually stepped in for the stoppage.

The long-awaited heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will play out in its entirety later today (Sat., May 18, 2024) at Ring of Fire live on DAZN PPV from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as fight fans wait in anticipation.

With all four major heavyweight titles up for grabs this will be a historic main event. The winner of Fury vs. Usyk will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion of boxing since Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield back in 1999. Add in the $150 million guaranteed fight purse and you have one of the biggest, most important fight cards in years.

The only problem for fight fans is knowing when to tune in to see the main event go down live. Ring of Fire’s “Prelims” offer some good action as well, but hardcore and casual boxing fans will want to know exactly when Fury and Usyk will make their respective walks to the ring, especially since the event is taking place in another time zone half way across the world.

With the PPV card beginning at 12 p.m. ET earlier today, Fury vs. Usyk is not expected to start until around 6:00 p.m. ET tonight. Boxing cards are always difficult to predict given their lengthy ring walks and delayed start times, but the heavyweight main event should fall somewhere closer to the evening hours here in the U.S. It will come after a seven-fight undercard plays out so be sure to stick with Mania for any relevant updates.

Cuban fighter Frank Sanchez had his heavyweight title hopes put on hold earlier today (Sat., May 18, 2024) at Ring of Fire live on DAZN PPV in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, when the previously undefeated knockout artist was finished by German veteran Agit Kabayel with a gnarly seventh-round knockout (body shot).

This was another matchup of undefeated heavyweights to grace the Ring of Fire card this weekend in Saudi Arabia and it delivered across the board. Both Martin and Kabayel are known for their punching power more than their technical abilities so the fight was a typical slobber knocker from the opening bell.

After both heavyweights settled in throughout the middle rounds it seemed like the fight was going to go the distance. That was until Kabayel started to do serious work to the body and capped his efforts off with a clean left to Sanchez’s stomach in the seventh frame. It wasn’t the most vicious body shot you’ll ever see, but the placement was perfect. Sanchez fell to the canvas and couldn’t continue.
