With yesterday’s weight of 197-lbs still fresh in everyone’s mind, UFC fighter Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson hit the scales again on Saturday, part of the bout stipulation placed on him by opponent Vitor Belfort. ‘Rumble’ would have to weigh no-more than 205-lbs on Saturday.

Johnson made the light heavyweight limit, weighing in at 204.2-lbs for the UFC 142 co-main event fight.

This means the two will fight on tonight’s live pay-per-view event for UFC 142 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Johnson is still not off the hook though, he still faces a 20% fine to his purse and could be facing dismissal from the UFC, whether he wins or loses, all according to promotion president Dana White.

“His Job is on the line. His job is absolutely on the line, win or lose.”

UFC 142 Fight Card: Why Anthony Johnson Will Get Fired No Matter What

UFC 142 will be Anthony Johnson’s last fight in the UFC, period.

Even UFC president Dana White said that Johnson’s job is on the line—even if he manages to defeat Vitor Belfort in UFC 142’s co-main event!

White went so far as to call Johnson’s botched weight cut “complete and absolute unprofessionalism.”

After all, Johnson is no stranger to missing weight.

The behemoth fighter has missed weight twice before while trying to fight in the 170-pound division.

He came in at 176 pounds against Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 104 and came in at 177.5 pounds against Rich Clementi at UFC 76.

Johnson was simply too big to continuously hit welterweight. When it was announced that he was going to move up to middleweight, the MMA community was thrilled. People thought “Rumble” would be able to dominate the division.

Then, the weigh-ins happened.

Johnson came in at 197, 12 pounds over the 185-pound limit (although they give a one pound leeway, so he was really only 11 pounds shy).

Johnson’s camp claimed it was because he was sick and that the UFC’s doctors forced him to re-hydrate before the weigh-ins, making him miss by such a wide margin.

Can Johnson be saved?

It’s unlikely. He’ll need to have a truly epic victory against Belfort to win, anything else will land him in the minor leagues.

Although it hasn’t even been publicly released yet, there’s been a whole lot of talk about ESPN doing a story on the UFC’s policies on fighter compensation. The “Outside the Lines” feature is already being derided as a hack job, since it’s supposed to insinuate that the UFC is a monopoly and engages in unscrupulous […]

Tickets to ‘UFC on Fuel 2? Sell Out in Less Than an Hour

“I’m going to prove once and for all that I am the #1 Light Heavyweight in the world from the Åland Islands to the Faroe Islands.

It looks like the UFC’s first venture to Sweden will be a success, at least as far as live gate revenue is concerned. According to a report from MMAViking.com, tickets to the April 14th card sold out in under an hour. As usual, UFC Fight Club members and UFC Newsletter subscribers were given first crack at tickets before they were sold to the general public.

You know as well as I do how hard it is to get people to shell out their hard-earned krona so close to Walpurgis Night, which only emphasizes how popular the sport has become in Nordic sphere. Though the capacity of Sweden’s Ericsson Globe Arena tops out at 14,000 seats, the fast sellout is reminiscent of the organization’s previous trips to Canada and Brazil.

Full line-up for the event after the jump:

Jimmo, Madadi Out of UFC on FX 1

And he’d been training so hard, too. It’s damn near perfect.

It appears that we’ll have to wait a little longer for the UFC debut of former Cage Potato guest blogger and Maximum Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Ryan Jimmo. Yesterday, the UFC announced that Jimmo was injured while preparing for his debut against Karlos Vemola, and has been taken off of the card. Consequently, Vemola has been dropped from the card, as the UFC will not pursue a replacement opponent for the Czech fighter. The injury suffered by Jimmo has not been disclosed at this time.

Also of note, Swedish-Iranian lightweight prospect Reza Madadi has also been injured, and has pulled out of his UFC debut against the recently re-signed Fabricio Camoes. Unlike Vemola, the UFC is pursuing a last minute replacement opponent for Camoes, who has won two straight since being released by the UFC after a loss to Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 111. Depending on the severity of the injury, Madadi will now likely make his UFC debut at the UFC’s inaugural show in Sweden on April 14.

UFC on FX is set to go down on January 20th from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The fight card now looks like this:
