A curious stop-and-start during Aleksander Emelianenko’s latest mixed martial arts bout has fans around the world crying foul.

Emelianenko, brother of heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko, returned to the cage for a heavyweight clash with vlogger Evgeny Ershov at the REN TV Superfight Series emanating from the Dynamo Volleyball Arena in Moscow, Russia. Things were not going well for the Russian in round two as Ershov unleashed a flurry of strikes against the fence. With just over a minute to go, Emelianenko covered up and hunkered down, seemingly surrendering. The referee quickly stepped in, appearing to signal the end of the fight.

Instead, Ershov waived off the finish and encouraged ‘The Grim Reaper’ to keep fighting. Seconds later, Ershov shot in for a quick takedown but allowed Emelianenko to snatch an uncontested kimura en route to a very sketchy-looking submission victory. Fans on social media quickly recognized that the fix was in and levied their accusations without hesitation.

A New Emelianenko Brother Has Entered the Fight

Unlike his older brother, Aleksander has been little more than a blight on the MMA community since making his debut in 2003. Using Fedor’s fame, Emelianenko found himself regularly booked under the PRIDE FC banner. He also regularly competed for M-1 in Russia but failed to garner the same type of respect as Fedor. Much of that was due to the simple fact that he just wasn’t that good.

Of course, it didn’t help that he was accused of sexual assault in 2014. ‘The Grim Reaper’ allegedly raped his housekeeper Polina Stepanova in May of that year. He pleaded not guilty but was ultimately sentenced to four and a half years in prison. He was released in 2016 on probation, resuming his mixed martial arts career a year later.

In another interesting turn of events, the evening also introduced MMA fans to yet another brother. The youngest of the three, Ivan Emelianenko, made his memorable debut with a win over Alexei Ledenev via unanimous decision. To his credit, Ivan’s victory appeared to be much more legit than his brothers.

There appears to be absolutely no love lost between the Emelianenko brothers.

Revered MMA legend Fedor has always been the more law-abiding person compared to his brother Aleksander. Aleks spent years in a Russian prison over charges that he sexually assaulted a woman there. Ever since then, Fedor has been absent from his brother’s corner when he fights, and vice versa.

Fedor recently opened up on his relationship with his brother in an open letter to Russian site RT Sport (via MMA Mania), which happened to be in response to an interview Aleksander did not long ago.

Needless to say, Fedor put his younger brother in place:

“Usually I don’t comment on other people’s statements. But I cannot remain silent. This is my first and last answer to you. I consider it beneath my dignity to constantly react to your lies.

“And now the most important thing – why I decided to make this open appeal to you: you called my relatives sycophants. Sycophant – that’s you, Judas. I feel sorry that people who were close to you and supported you in hard moments are now suffering. I personally have apologized for you to dozens of people.

“You can say what you like about me, I’ll endure it, but do not dare to insult those close to me. Besides, you don’t even know them. And all those whom you know helped you and played an important role in your life. And you are not worth their little finger. Therefore, you are not in my circle.

“In one of your interviews you said that you can help me. But I do not understand how you, [someone] who was released [from prison] not long ago and is known for constant violations of his training regime, can help me. I can only think of one thing – not to dishonor the family name of me and my parents!”

Aleks Emelianenko most recently won his first fight since his release from prison and is working on a comeback in the MMA world.

He had been recently quoted as saying that sycophants and leeches ruined Fedor’s fame and fortune.

Fedor clearly felt differently and took to penning this brutally honest open letter in response.

Aleksander Emelianenko Simply Cannot Stop Being Arrested For Horrifying Sh*t

(“Please, Mr. Bones, tell me more about this ‘persecution complex’ you speak of.”)

For a former monk or a guy who at least spent a decent amount of time around them, Aleksander Emelianenko seems to have almost no understanding of concepts like self-control, humility, or respect for his fellow man (I hear he bakes a mean pumpernickel, though). In the past year, Emelianenko non-Fedor has gone full off the deep end, assaulting an elderly man on his birthday in a Moscow cafe, terrorizing a plane full of unwitting passengers, and winding up on Russia’s “Most Wanted” list for a bizarre combination of passport theft and housekeeper abuse.

And now, he’s went and committed perhaps the most despicable act of them all: Sexual Assault. Although details remain up in the air at the moment, MMABoxing.ru is reporting that the former PRIDE star is currently in custody and facing a possible prison sentence of four-to-six years, with the charges against him including everything from theft to sexual assault. Said the unidentified victim’s lawyer:

First, the court should extend Emelianenko’s arrest, which ends June 30. And we will defend our position that he is a threat to society. Most likely, Emelianenko will get imprisonment from four-to-six years. We will insist on that.

Something tells me this poor woman’s lawyer won’t have all too difficult a time proving that Emelianenko is a “threat to society.” Multiple assaults, thefts, drunk and disorderlies…all Aleks needs is a bath salt-fueled B&E to capture the Mayhem Miller Triple Crown of Douchebaggery, for Christ’s sake.

Of course, one has to wonder how Emelianenko has managed to avoid imprisonment for the bevy of charges he was facing prior to his most recent arrest. Thankfully, I’ve done some extensive research on this subject and think I’ve come up with an answer…

Yes, goooood. Let the hepatitis flow through you.

We will have more on this story as it develops, but in the meantime, let’s just go ahead and slap a CagePotato Ban on Aleksander Emelianenko as a human being.

Aleksander Emelianenko Receives Russia’s Highest Honor, Is Placed on Federal Wanted List

(“Alright…take me to The Throne Room.”)

For a while there, we here at CagePotato always just kind of assumed that Aleksander Emelianenko would spend the remainder of his days quietly crushing tomato cans and occasionally killing bears with knives. Until the day came 10 or so years from now, of course, when the Russian government would finally locate his geographically-isolated cabin and assign him one. final. mission. to save the world he gave up on so long ago. They’d say something like, “You’re a hard man to find,” and Aleks would be all like, “Not hard enough,” and before you know it, we’d have a movie franchise on our hands. Yeah, that’s how it’d go.

Unfortunately, it appears that the nightly bounties of delicious stabbed bear meat (second only to strangled boar meat on the list of manliest meals) and occasional espionage we had envisioned for Fedor’s little bro was only that: a dream. Last October, Aleks was detained after beating up a 63-year-old army veteran on his birthday (classy stuff, Al), and today brings word that Russia’s answer to War Machine has been placed on the country’s federal wanted list in light of another bizarre altercation:

Russian authorities have put renowned Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Aleksander Emelianenko on a wanted list on suspicion of housekeeper abuse and passport theft, investigators said Wednesday.

Vladimir Markin, a spokesperson for the country’s Investigative Committee said that Emelianenko had been put on the federal wanted list as “he disappeared and did not appear for questioning at the scheduled time,” adding that charges were forthcoming.

Housekeeper abuse? Good God, Aleks, I know you’ve been itching to fight someone who won’t give up before you throw the first punch, but there’s gotta be a better way!

We will have more on this absolutely ridiculous story as it unfolds, but just so we’re keeping track, the list of people Aleksander Emelianenko has deemed an immediate threat over the years now includes:

-Housekeepers
-Tourists
Flight Attendants
-Senior Citizens
-People with birthdays
-Bears (OK, he was right on this one)

What would they think back at the monastery, Aleks?
