This time, however, Bisping expects the outcome to be different, although he did recently make a bold prediction, saying that “Hendo” will attempt to cheat:

“Let me tell you this, lightning does not strike twice. It struck once the first time, it will not strike twice. There will be no TRT, no drugs, no steroids, no performance-enhancing drugs. Dan Henderson I challenge you to announce to me at the press conference that you will not take any performance-enhancing drugs, that if USADA show up on any day, any time they can test you, because I think he’s gonna cheat. I think he’s gonna go out there and have some sneaky PEDs because he’s gonna think, ‘Well screw it. If I get suspended, so what? I’m retiring anyway.’ Bisping said on his podcast.

“I think he’s gonna juice because if he gets popped, he’s just gonna get suspended. That is no consequence to him and people will remember that he retired as champion even though it would be a No Contest. If he was to get the win, he could still retire saying, ‘I just beat the world champion.’”

On the flip side, however, Bisping expects Henderson to make it to the Octagon given the payday he would be risking if he were to test positive, although “The Count” wouldn’t be surprised either way:
“But then again, the problem with that is if he was to go out there and do that, with USADA, – and I’m gonna make sure this guy is thoroughly tested – and if he was to test positive, then the fight would be off. So that is the only deterrent I think. Because he’s gonna earn a lot of money for this fight and if he wants to collect on that paycheck, he’s got to make it to the octagon. So he’s playing with fire but we’ve seen it time and time again, people do play with fire even though they know USADA might turn up…People do make these stupid f**king mistakes. Dan Henderson being a weird version of bloody Fred Flintstone – that’s what I’m gonna nickname him, he looks like Fred Flintstone – he will probably make that mistake.”

Despite Bisping’s claims, Henderson has never failed a test, and it’s unlikely that he’d risk it in what’s likely to be his last fight ever.

Strikeforce, WEC, UFC and US Army veteran Tim Kennedy still has not fought in the octagon since his controversial loss to Yoel Romero in 2014. That was UFC 178, and now nearly two years later he still hasn’t indicated a firm date for a fighting comeback, if at all. His new show ‘Hunting Hitler’ for the History Channel, as well as other US Army obligations have kept Kennedy away from the UFC’s cameras, but there’s also been a number of issues that Kennedy has been very vocal about.

Of course the loss to ‘Soldier of God’ remains a sour point, and perhaps always will for ‘TK,’ but the Special Forces veteran also harbours bad feelings towards the UFC Reebok deal. He has previously said he has doubts about ever fighting again, but has been chirping a very different tune this week.

Now that Michael Bisping has taken charge of the UFC middleweight division, Tim Kenned has a thing or two to say about the British ‘Count’ being champion. Kennedy defeated Bisping in a one-sided decision in the Ultimate Fighter Nations finale, marking the last time that he tasted victory in MMA competition. Speaking during a Facebook live session, as transcribed by MMAFighting.com, the 36-year old American revealed he still has many doubts about Bisping’s calibre and also announces his return to the UFC:

“What do I think of Bisping winning the title? [Laughs]. Yeah, so Michael Bisping is the current champion in my weight class. You guys know I beat the brakes off him for 25 minutes, pretty much effortlessly.”

“It’s funny because he’s calling out very specific people and my name is not ever coming out of his mouth. For obvious reasons because I could do it again. I could do it tomorrow. I train all the time, but I could seriously destroy Michael Bisping in a matter of minutes if I wanted to.”

“The last time with fought I didn’t like him – I still don’t like him – and I really wanted to make a point to bloody him up. One of my coaches was like, ‘why didn’t you just finish him? Why didn’t you just choke him out? Why didn’t you make him tap?’ Because I didn’t want to. I wanted to put him on his back and punch him in the face for 25 minutes. So that’s what I think about Michael Bisping.”

Finally revealing when he intends to fight again in the UFC, Kennedy says his busy calendar won’t allow him to fight in the octagon until September, but that date is pretty much set:

“I don’t have a day off until November…I leave tomorrow. I’ll be gone for 10 days. I’ll be back for 6 hours to change out bags and then I go to South America for 80 days. Then I come back and the same day that I come back I grab different bags and I go to Albuquerque, New Mexico to start training for my fight camp for my next UFC fight. So then my next UFC fight happens and then I’ll have Thanksgiving.”

Could Kennedy be granted an immediate title shot upon his return? Given it’ll be his 24-month anniversary of absence in September, and also the fact he’s currently ranked 11th in a very busy division, the chances are the Albuquerque based fighter will have to get at least one win under his belt.

Who should Tim Kennedy face in his UFC return, or does his dominant win over Michael Bisping earn him a homecoming title fight? If there’s one thing we learned from UFC 199’s shocking headliner, it’s that Bisping has evolved a lot in a very short time.

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping capitalized on the opportunity to take Chris Weidman’s place in the title fight with Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, doing so on just two weeks notice. Many believed Luke Rockhold would retain his belt, especially given the dominant win he held over ‘The Count’ in their first fight, but the Englishman made good on his promises to finish ‘Rocky’ on June 4. A flurry of clean punches to the chin cleaned out Rockhold in the first round, and Bisping had finally captured a title after 10 years of hard work.

With the storming victory came a stream of challenges from a line of contenders. Jacare Souza, Dan Henderson, Rockhold, Chris Weidman and even Georges St-Pierre wanted a crack. ‘GSP’ claimed a return fight with Bisping was ‘close,’ Henderson and ‘The Count engaged in an all new war of words that has fans clamouring for a rematch of their classic UFC 100 meeting. ‘Hendo’ scored an iconic knockout over Bisping that night and it seems somewhat fitting to have Henderson retire after a rematch, although the rankings would argue otherwise.

But through all of this the former champ and number one contender Chris Weidman hasn’t really had his name thrown in the mix all that much. ‘The All American’ pulled out of the UFC 199 main event after a neck injury, later undergoing successful surgery to fix the issue. Now he’s clearly trying to drum up some hype for the most realist fight that’s been suggested since Bisping took over the division.

It’s certainly a strange spot for the 185-pound division to be in right now. The unfinished business with a soon to be retired Henderson could well overshadow the official rankings in this scenario, and leave matchmakers with a tall task regarding the rest of the middleweight contenders. Should ‘Hendo’ have to fight his way back up or just retire, or does his epic KO over Bisping hold enough weight to have the ageing legend skip the queue?

The former champion Chris Weidman could fight Luke Rockhold in the meantime, but what would Jacare do? Throw in St-Pierre, who’s never even fought at middleweight, and you have an even more entertaining but also troublesome mix.

The only man smiling here is Bisping, who apparently hasn’t changed a bit.

‘The Count’ believes he’ll do better without a full camp…

It seems that 2016 is yet another year of the injury bug, as pay-per-view and fight night bouts continue being laid to waste by last minute accidents. The most recent of these main event smashing injuries was Chris Weidman’s withdrawal from the June 4 UFC 199 PPV card in Inglewood, California. ‘The All-American’ requires surgery due to a rather concerning spinal injury, which he detailed in a graphic Facebook post yesterday. In dropping out of the event, Weidman left a gap opposite the middleweight boss Luke Rockhold, but every cloud has a silver lining.

As a result of Weidman’s injury and removal from UFC 199, we get to see another rematch, this time between the 185-pound champ Luke Rockhold and his old nemesis Michael Bisping.

‘Rocky’ and ‘The Count’ first squared off in Sydney, Australia in late 2014, with Rockhold furthering his claim to the title fight with Weidman by rocking and then submitting Bisping inside two rounds. After finishing Lyoto Machida, Rockhold went on to brutally batter Chris Weidman for the title in a gruelling affair at UFC 194.

Anderson Silva Accuses London Judges Of Corruption In Bisping Decision

Longtime mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva was looking to make a triumphant return to the Octagon against Michael Bisping in the main event of today’s (Sat., February 27, 2016) UFC Fight Night 84 from the O2 Arena in London, England, and for a brief moment in the third round, it looked like he had done just that.

Longtime mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva was looking to make a triumphant return to the Octagon against Michael Bisping in the main event of today’s (Sat., February 27, 2016) UFC Fight Night 84 from the O2 Arena in London, England, and for a brief moment in the third round, it looked like he had done just that.

However, Bisping was allowed to continue when referee Herb Dean decided not to stop the bout and allowed it to continue on, and Silva didn’t exactly take advantage of the situation despite having the veteran in serious – and bloody – trouble. No, Bisping rallied to win the fourth round on all three judges’ scorecards, and even with a vicious fifth round from ‘The Spider’ that saw him almost finish ‘The Count’ again with a front kick, the once-feared champion couldn’t edge his British counterpart.

Many, including UFC President Dana White, still believe that Silva should have won the unanimous decision 48-47 instead of Bisping, but it didn’t go that way in his home of London. The result is sure to continue inspiring a, shall we say, ‘heated’ debate amongst viewers, and some will cry that the hometown judges played into the bout’s outcome much more than they should have.

Apparently, Silva is one of these people, as he revealed (translated from Portuguese)in his post-fight interview that he believes he did his job and won the fight, but it was taken from him. He likened the result to supposedly ‘corrupt’ results that he’s also seen in his native Brazil:

“Here’s the deal, you can’t win one way, they try to take it away the other way. That’s it,” Silva said. “You saw how that went, right? So, there’s nothing left to say. I fought for you, and that’s it. Thank you for the support. My family, I’m coming back home, I’m fine. Mission accomplished, mission given, but sometimes it’s like in Brazil, total corruption.”

That’s certainly a strong accusation, but it was also an understandably emotional moment for the 40-year-old veteran who is now 0-3(1) in his last four UFC bouts. His critics will say that he didn’t engage enough and instead spent far too much time looking for the perfect counter shot, allowing Bisping to get in close and land numerous combinations.

There would be some truth to that for sure, but then there’s also the other contrasting point of view that Silva did a much higher amount of damage, which was apparent all over Bisping’s face in the form of several cuts and bruises in addition to endlessly flowing blood, which would once again entrench us in the controversial (and endless) discussion of MMA’s flawed scoring system.

Bisping has been accused of winning questionable decisions in his native Great Britain, however; it’s by no fault of his own. At the end of the day, ‘The Count’ took home his biggest win, and Silva has been left with a case of especially sour grapes. No one’s calling for an immediate rematch of an incredibly close and controversial bout, but what really could be next for both fighter?
