Anthony Pettis teases a potential showdown against a top title contender in the UFC’s welterweight division.

Prior to his latest fight, the former UFC lightweight champion was able to score submission win in the second round over Michael Chiesa to put him back to his winning ways. This fight went down the UFC 226 pay-per-view event.

However, he suffered another defeat when he lost to Tony Ferguson at UFC 229 by second-round doctor stoppage. This put him in a 2-3 MMA record in his last five bouts.

Now, he’s considering to make the move to welterweight and already has a potential fight in mind. That would be against top contender Stephen Thompson. He dropped the teaser when he wrote the following on his official Instagram account:

“Heard somebody is looking for a fight. What you guys think? Take my talents to WW and take on the boy? Comment. Let me know if y’all get excited for this one. #showtime #lovethis #forthefans #teampettis.”

It’s possible that UFC officials make this fight official as Thompson doesn’t have his next fight lined up yet. He was seeking a fight against Robbie Lawler in the first quarter of this year but that appears not to be happening. Ben Askren is expected to fight the former UFC champ.

The UFC 229 medical suspensions are in for last weekend’s (Sat., October 6, 2018) pay-per-view event from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 229 was a card full of blood and violence inside the cage and chaos outside of it. By now, you know that Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dominant submission win over Conor McGregor was marred by a hectic post-fight brawl.

You’d think McGregor may have received a significant medical suspension for the beating. The Irish superstar can resume fighting quite soon in actuality. In the fully released medical suspensions obtained from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) via MMA Fighting, McGregor is only suspended until November 6.

He must refrain from contact until October 28. Overall, it’s great news for McGregor as he campaigns for a rematch with “The Eagle.”

Five fighters received the full potential six-month suspension for their match-ups at UFC 229. The most notable is former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. ‘Showtime’ threw down with Tony Ferguson in a bloody war. A broken hand forced his corner to call the co-main event off between the second and third rounds.

Pettis is actually out for 180 days pending clearance of a nasal fracture.

Khabib Should Be Arrested And/Or Stripped

By all accounts, UFC 229 was the biggest and most-watched fight card in company history. Yet Khabib Nurmagomedov decided to act a fool.

It’s a shame that such a masterful performance will be marred in controversy. But unfortunately that’s the situation with Khabib, and the sport of MMA finds itself in. What was he thinking as he scaled the cage and dove at Dillon Danis?

UFC President Dana White was noticeably subdued during the post-fight press conference when he explained that he doesn’t know what the future holds for the unbeaten champion. Several media members asked White if Khabib would be stripped of his lightweight title.

White chose his words carefully while addressing Khabib but did reveal that the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is going to most likely slam the Dagestani for this actions on Saturday night.

Making matters worse for Khabib, Nevada’s governor was in attendance for UFC 229. Per White, the governor went running for his life when the brawl broke out. The governor oversees the athletic commission. That can’t bode well for the Dagestani.
