SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Michael Chandler is one of the highest profile fighters to hit MMA free agency in some time. The former lightweight champ is expecting a quick resolution and a boatload of money.

Chandler, 32, has been without a Bellator MMA contract since earlier this year when he successfully fought out his deal. There is no shortage of suitors for Chandler who called the free agency process “exciting” but also knows that this is one of the biggest decisions of his professional career.

“Business is business,” Chandler told LowkickMMA and other media in attendance. “No. 1, I know my worth. No. 2, I know exactly what I’m fighting for. No. 3, I know exactly how good I am. I truly think I’m the best lightweight in the world, and I don’t think there’s anybody that can convince me otherwise. With that comes a lot of layered decision-making.”

Chandler is one of the most prolific fighters in Bellator’s history. He has the second most fights in promotion history with 19, and he is tied for the most wins in the promotion’s history with 15. Despite Chandler’s accolades, Bellator has not been able to take advantage of the exclusive negotiation period with him. However, a person with knowledge of the situation stated that the promotion is taking the necessary steps to resign Chandler.

“At the end of the day, nothing is more important to me than my wife and my son and my legacy,” Chandler said. “I’ve always said that. Whoever was going to take better care of me, whoever is going to be there and taking care of me better was going to be who I was going to end up getting a deal done with. At this point, there are no deals done, and we will see what happens.”

“It all goes back to knowing your worth, realizing that I have been in this organization longer than anybody. I do have the most wins in Bellator history. I have been in the hands-down the most exciting fights in Bellator history. Bellator would not be where they are without the fights that I’ve had, without being one of the faces of the promotion, being one of the guys who goes out there and literally never disappoints. … With that and with the damage that I’ve taken and with the value that I bring into each and every second stepping into the cage, whether with Bellator or another organization, I have to take that into account.”

Chandler believes he is the best 155-pound fighter in the world. A claim that will be easier to prove if he signs with the UFC. However, Chandler has stated that his family comes first and as such, will ultimately determine where he fights.

James Gallagher Reacts To Stunning Bellator 204 Loss

Conor McGregor’s teammate has broken his silence on this defeat.

The post James Gallagher Reacts To Stunning Bellator 204 Loss appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

James Gallagher reacts to a loss that he won’t soon forget as it marks his first loss thus far in his pro-MMA career that is still in the early stages.

It’s rare in MMA that a fighter remains undefeated while competing and the mass majority taste the bitter defeat that will either break or make a pro-MMA fighter going forward.

As seen on the main card of Friday’s (August 17, 2018) Bellator 204 event that went down at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on the Paramount Network, Gallagher faced that fate. In the fight, he suffered a stunning knockout loss against Ricky Bandejas in a bantamweight bout.

The Finish

The finish of the fight came once Ricky dropped him with a straight right hand but Gallagher got back to his feet. Ricky stunned him with some sweet chin music and finished him on the ground with strikes.

This fight marked the long-awaited return for the rising prospect as he had been on the sidelines for 14-months. The reason for it was due to multiple injuries and fight withdrawals during the break.

Thus, this led to him making the move down from featherweight to bantamweight for this fight. Despite not getting the result he wanted, he did own up to his mistakes and still looks to not only have a long future in the sport. But, to have a successful one at that.

James Gallagher Reacts

Moments after the fight, Gallagher took to his official Instagram account where he broke his silence and noted that he makes no excuses for that finish.

“He caught me I got beat fair a square. I’m 21 years old I’m still a ******* animal I will be back!! I love this game. It’s what I do. I’m down but not broke he caught me lucky I got clipped I went In on my Shield I’ll go out on it. I’m an animal. Fair play to him the whole game knows him now. Let’s go again. I’m coming back! Thank you everyone for all the support. To everyone glad **** you haha I just got paid your years salary for doing something I love. I put my money where my mouth is! Thanks for the support I’ll be back December. There’s no one who has done what I have at 21 years old. I’m still that cocky ************* I am when I win and I’m still that cocky ************* when I loose. Thank you to everyone whose behind me.”

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Logan Storley is a wrestling legend in these here parts and he continues to shine in the Bellator cage.

Storley remained unbeaten and improved to 9-0 with a win over A.J. Matthews at Bellator 204 which took place last night (Aug 17, 2018) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Matthews opened the fight with good lateral movement. However, Storley timed a perfect takedown just as Matthews threw a punch and was able to get the fight to the canvas. Try as he might, Matthews just could not figure out a way to keep the relentless Storley off his back. Referee Jason Herzog looked mighty close to stopping the action on several occasions, however, the crafty Matthews managed to defend just enough to keep the fight going.

Herzog would stop the action for a few minutes in the first round when Storley accidentally hit Matthews with an illegal knee to the head. Although a clear hematoma was developing on Matthews’ forehead he soldiered on.

Matthews fired off some kicks to start round two but Storley bulldozed through his offense and quickly ended up in side control. From there it was academic. Storley methodically reigned down elbows and fists till Herzog mercifully stepped in to end the onslaught at 3:56 of round two.

Speaking to LowkickMMA and other media following his victory at Bellator 204 Storley explained how working with the likes of Robbie Lawler has helped his game.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Reigning Bellator bantamweight champion Darion Caldwell was successful in his move up in weight as he scored a second-round TKO victory over Noad Lahat last night (Aug 17, 2018) at Bellator 204.

Caldwell looked every bit the part of a featherweight in his division debut. He landed several nice leg kicks and effortlessly gained positional advantage on Lahat. Easily having his way with the Israeli born fighter. The champion would even tease a top side guillotine before continuing his ground and pound assault.

Caldwell would close the show in the second round with a barrage of ground and pound strikes that prompted the referee to jump in and halt the action. Although Caldwell looked great in his featherweight debut, this wasn’t the fight he was hoping for.

Speaking with LowkickMMA and other media after his main event victory, the champion would explain how he wants the ‘Pitbull’ brothers next.

Watch Darrion Caldwell’s full post-fight interview scrum here:

It’s clear who Caldwell would like to fight next. But it seems he would settle for either ‘Pitbull’ brother at this point. However, one thing is clear, that is ‘The Wolf’ has clear intentions on becoming the latest dual champ.

Highlights: Conor McGregor’s Teammate Gets Destroyed At Bellator 204

Conor McGregor’s teammate James Gallagher lost in brutal fashion tonight.

James Gallagher spent a lot of the week leading up to tonight’s (Fri., August 17, 2018) Bellator 204 buying into the hype.

He planned on getting a title shot against Bellator champion Darrion Caldwell. Gallagher also hyped up teammate Conor McGregor for his pending UFC return.

Gallagher did not, apparently, focus on his opponent Ricky Bandejas due to the jaw-dropping result of the bout. Bandejas stopped Gallagher’s hype train in brutal fashion in just one round. He nailed Gallagher with a huge right hand that had him on skates.

Bandejas followed with a vicious side kick to the face that made Gallagher a sitting duck. A barrage of ground punches then knocked Gallagher out cold. The win was legitimately one of the most impressive and brutal stoppages of 2018 so far.
