Undefeated UFC welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev has recently taken former division title challenger, Darren Till under his wing at AllStars MMA in Sweden as part of the Liverpool native’s resurgance as a middleweight contender. And according to UFC alum, Mike Perry, the unbeaten finisher also offered him the opportunity to train alongside him during a recent trip to Russia.

Perry, who competed 15 times under the UFC banner since his 2016 landing with the Dana White-led promotion, ended his time with the organization following a unanimous decision loss to upcoming feature, Daniel Rodriguez at UFC on ABC 2 back in April of last year.

In the time since, the Flint striker has switched his focus to bare knuckle fighting under the David Feldman-founded, BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) banner, scoring an impressive 2-0 record.

Headlining the promotion’s visit to the U.K. earlier this year, Perry defeated former Bellator welterweight title challenger, Michael Page in an overtime round decision victory following a debut judging win over The Ultimate Fighter alum, Julian Lane.

Mike Perry reveals Khamzat Chimaev offered him the chance to train with him in Chechnya

Speaking on a potential team-up with undefeated welterweight talent, Chimaev during a recent interview with Helen Yee, Perry claimed that he had received an invitation to train with the former, however, turned down the request due to the volatile nature of the Republic of Chechnya.

“He (Khamzat Chimaev) told me to come to Chechnya when I was in Russia,” Mike Perry said. “I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m probably not going to make it bro.’ I heard that’s no man’s land… shouldn’t go there.”

“I mean, that’s a cool rumor that it’s so dangerous that you shouldn’t go there and it’s probably got some nice views,” Mike Perry explained. “But I’ve heard Chechnya is pretty dangerous and maybe that’s why Khamzat’s so dangerous… and a lot of the other Russian fighters [are dangerous too].” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

Perry’s most recent victory under the UFC banner came in the form of a unanimous decision win over fellow Octagon veteran, Mickey Gall back in June 2020.

Buakaw Banchamek earned his fourth victory over Yoshihiro Sato with a dominant two-minute knockout over the former 2-time K-1 Max Japan tournament winner.

Sato had been the only boxer to stop Buakaw when the pair met in 2008 at the K-1 Max: World MAX 2008 tournament. Since then, the pair had gone down different routes with Sato having not competed since 2015 prior to this matchup whereas Buakaw’s activity had only increased.

The two men had met four times previously before this matchup with the Thai fighter emerging victorious on three occasions having already finished Sato in one of their previous meetings.

And it would be Buakaw who was victorious once again, the bout did not last long with both men exchanging fierce punches and kicks before Buakaw would land a shot that put Sato on the floor.

Buakaw Banchamek Calls For Greater Challenge In His Next Matchup

Speaking to the media post-fight, Baukaw revealed that he had expected himself to be involved in a much tougher matchup and had trained himself in preparation for such a thing.

His opponent Sato had not competed for nearly eight years however he told the media that he had continued to train during this period but unfortunately came up short on the night.

It is unknown where Sato will go from here however it seems that Buakaw already has his next matchup scheduled.

According to Tapology, Buakaw Banchamek will face Saenchai ‘King Star’ Saenpong in a main-event matchup at a Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship card scheduled to take place in March of 2023. Both men are perceived as ‘Muay Thai Legends’ having a combined 600 plus matchups competing within the sport. This will be the first occasion for Saenpong to compete in BKFC.

Whether the Thai legend will have another fight prior to this matchup is still undecided.

Buakaw

Buakow and Saenchai will be headlining a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship event labeled “A Clash of the Muay Thai Legends” on March 18th.

The two legendary fighters are known to be close friends and even training partners, but they will be squaring off in a bare knuckle Muay Thai match. Many fans of the sport are already calling this, the “biggest match in Muay Thai history“.

There has been no word whether the bout will be an exhibition match or not, but many speculate that it will most likely be one. Buakaw fights at a heavier weight than Saenchai, so it is speculated that the matchup will be a catchweight bout as well.

Buakaw recently made his Bare Knuckle Fighting debut in September

Buakaw (40) beat his opponent, Erkan Varol by knockout in just the first round of the bout. He landed a devastating body shot on Varol and dropped him with it. Varol was unable to return to his feet and continue fighting. Buakow has a kickboxing record of 240-24, with 73 of his wins coming by way of knockout.

Saenchai (42) has not had a fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship yet, but carries an impressive kickboxing record into this bout as well. He comes in with a record of 327-41, with 41 knockouts of his own.

“Once we started working with ‘Buakaw’ and ‘Saenchai’ earlier this year, it became very apparent how big of an international, game-changing event this would be for combat sports,” said David Feldman, President of BKFC. “They’ve both had legendary careers and competed in many of the most exciting Muay Thai fights in history. Combat sports fans have always had very strong opinions about who would win, now they’re going to take the gloves off and finally settle their score.” (Transcribed by FightbookMMA.com)

Dada 5000

Dada 5000 will not be competing in his scheduled bare-knuckle boxing match.

Following his showdown in Bellator against Kimbo Slice in 2016, Dada 5000, AKA Dhafir Harris, was transported to the hospital at the end of this bout due to suffering two heart attacks during the fight. Originally, it was a TKO win for Kimbo, but it was later changed to a No Contest due to Kimbo testing positive for nandrolone and an elevated testosterone level.

Since this 2016 fight, the Miami fighter Dada 5000 has not returned to action. However, he booked a date with a BYB Extreme Fighting Series for a bare-knuckle boxing bout. Florida State Fairgrounds on November 19 would host BYB 13: Tampa Brawl For It All featuring the Florida resident fighter against Matthew Stickland, who has a 0-1 record in bare-knuckle boxing. However, despite the announcement, it would not come to pass.

Florida State Athletic Commission Says No to Dada 5000

Dhafir Harris, AKA Dada 5000, was not approved by the Florida State Athletic Commission for this November boxing showdown. Due to his multiple heart attacks during the 2016 Kimbo fight, he is indefinitely suspended. The Florida Athletic Commission explained, “Dhafir Harris is currently indefinitely suspended by the Texas Athletic Commission. Mr. Harris will not be competing at the event in November.” Texas and Florida and different jurisdictions, but athletic commissions normally respect each other’s rulings with the objective to be in favor of fighters’ safety.

Dada 5000 says he still wants to compete. In an interview, he said:

“I have a lot left inside of me and can be a breath of fresh air to what has become a very stale fight game. I’m one of the last of that original breed of modern mixed martial artists. I’m recognizable, and people identify with what they are familiar with. I want to do this for the fans as much as for myself.”

On November 19, BYB 13: Tampa Brawl For It All will proceed as planned, but Dhafir Harris will not be participating.

Mike Perry continued to do Mike Perry things this week, but this time, he took his patented ‘Platinum Heat’ to Moscow.

The former UFC welterweight turned BKFC brawler recently made a trip to Russia to corner his friend and training partner Alex Nicholson as he prepares for a bout at Ren TV Fight Club this week. During a press conference ‘Platinum’ got into a scuffle with Russian middleweight standout Magomed Ismailov, a fighter with more than 10 years of combat sports experience and 17 wins to his credit per Tapology.

Following the incident, Mike Perry gave some insight on the situation while speaking to his Instagram followers.

“I almost got jumped in there but luckily people broke it up,” Perry said. “In Russia, if you call someone a ‘mother f*cker,’ they think you talking about someone’s mom, so then the whole team comin’ to get you. But in America when you say ‘mother f*cker,’ it’s like normal words, mother f*cker. It’s normal, man, I’m not talking about your mama. Chill bro, one on one.”

Mike Perry and Unnecessary Brawls Seem to Go Hand-In-Hand

It’s not the first time Mike Perry has found himself at the center of a brawl. In his first appearance with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, he got into an altercation with former The Ultimate Fighter cast member Julian Lane who was sitting in the crowd. The two later settled things inside the squared circle at the promotion’s second annual Knucklemania event, but not before Perry appeared at the pre-fight press conference with a baseball bat in hand.

Perry’s last appearance inside the squared circle was at BKFC 27 in August. He defeated Bellator MMA star Michael ‘Venom’ Page in an entertaining six-round war. Since then, ‘Platinum’ has been pushing for a boxing match with YouTuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul or a bare-knuckle brawl with the hottest free agent on the market, Nate Diaz.
