BKFC 22

A thrilling night of action at BKFC 22 is in the books as Miami, Florida, hosted the heated rivalry between MMA veteran Hector Lombard and Lorenzo Hunt, which was warmed up by the ten previous fights that went down beforehand.

It was always destined that Lombard and Hunt would meet inside the ropes and trade leather after their viral confrontation at BKFC 18. Following Hector Lombard’s victory over Joe Riggs, Lorenzo Hunt proceeded to bull-rush into the ring. He confronted Lombard, which resulted in the former Bellator MMA champion throwing a combination at Hunt.

The bad blood spilled into the BKFC 22 main event, giving Bare Knuckle boxing enthusiasts the entertainment they paid for.

Lombard and Hunt got after it right from the off-set, throwing with bad intentions, giving each other no time to settle into the fight.

After the chaos calmed, Hunt was able to download the data of Lombard, utilizing his lead hand to gauge the distance and capitalise on his reach advantage. Which lead to the thirty-nine-year-old wearing on the scar tissue of Lombard, landing multiple clean shots resulting in several cuts. Hector Lombard’s experience was on display as he stayed in the fight, continued to walk forward, and landed heavy shots of his own. In the end, it wasn’t enough as the judges settled the bad blood crediting Lorenzo Hunt with a unanimous decision victory, recording his sixth win as a Bare Knuckle boxer, and capturing the BKFC cruiserweight championship.

Lorenzo Hunt walked over to Hector Lombard to grab his belt and then proceeded to smash it on the ground before being escorted out of the building at the BKFC 22 pre-fight press conference.

The ongoing events caused by Hunt grabbing the cruiserweight belt was the UFC veteran Lombard being restrained as well as the whole press conference being in a state of shock.

This is a fight that seems to be long overdue between both fighters with their first encounter coming after Lombard’s title victory, now with this final meeting leading carnage.

Hunt was fined an undisclosed fee for his actions, BKFC officials told MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin

Hector Lombard and Lorenzo Hunt have a long history

Dating back to BKFC when Lombard captured the cruiserweight title for the first time causing Hunt to storm the ring

This resulted in Lombard hitting Hunt with a two-punch combination while the area security and everyone surrounding tried to separate them.

With all of the pre-fight build-up with already a couple of near fight situations there seems to be no love lost between the two fighters

Hunt currently holds a record of 6-1 in BKFC and is riding a three-fight win streak with all finishes being by knockout.

Since joining BKFC Lombard is undefeated and has captured the cruiserweight title, the UFC veteran will look to add to the success he has had since joining the organization with a win over Hunt.

Mike Perry Julian Lane

With Mike Perry signing to BKFC he has a lot of options in front of him, but Julian Lane may not be one of them.

Perry shocked the MMA world with the announcement that he was leaving the UFC and had signed to BKFC. Sure, he had only won three of his last ten fights, but he is always an exciting fighter to watch with a unique personality to boot.

Nevertheless, Perry is set to make the transition to BKFC, with some notable names in the bare-knuckle circuit already calling him out. One of these people is two-time Ultimate Fighter alum Julian Lane, known better as the “Let me bang, bro” guy, who has a 3-4 record in bare-knuckle boxing and called out the former UFC fighter on Instagram.

“Mike platinum Perry signs to @bareknucklefc ?????? Should I let him bang? ????????” Lane wrote.

However, it seems that Mike Perry is not particularly interested in this specific matchup. When asked about it on The MMA Hour, he gave the most on-brand response imaginable, saying that he was not interested in facing someone who would want to do the things that Lane does.

“I don’t know a sensitive way to say it. I’m a little homophobic when it comes to MMA fighting callouts. I don’t want my opponents to want to bang, bro. So I’m a little hesitant with that one. I mean, we can make any fight happen, though. Whoever Bare Knuckle (makes) happen, but I want to get slim pickings because that’s one fight, and there’s other guys too,” Perry said.

At this point in time, there is no indication on when Mike Perry will make his BKFC debut or who it will be against. That said, BKFC President Dave Feldman has said he is willing to give the former UFC fighter an immediate title shot, so a fight with Julian Lane seems unlikely at this point.

Sanchez and Malignaggi

Former boxer Paulie Malignaggi says that Bare Knuckle Fighting championship has offered him a fight against Diego Sanchez.

Malignaggi last had a bare-knuckle fight against Artem Lobov back in 2019 when he lost via decision. The former boxing champion is saying that his second fight with the promotion may be against Diego ‘The Nightmare’ Sanchez.

“I got offered to fight Diego Sanchez in BKFC,” Malignaggi claimed while on The Schmo on YouTube. “Actually, me and Diego were in contact, discussing even a gloves fight. It’s possible. I personally have a preference that I’d rather not, but if the money gets really good, you start to make me consider it. We’ll see. I never say never.” (MMANews)

Sanchez has been in rumors to fight in a bare-knuckle league a few times now. His most recent has been the possible matchup against Dillon Danis at Gamebred FC. Sanchez did say earlier this year that he would be open to signing with BKFC. He called the possibility of joining the league fun and something he’d be down for.

Sanchez was released from the UFC in April. He had lost four of his last seven fights before being released from the UFC. One of those wins being a DQ win over Michel Periera at UFC Fight Night 167. Although Malignaggi had stated he retired after the Lobev fight, but it seems as if he is considering coming back.

Sanchez stated before that he would need at least one boxing match before he got in there to fight bare knuckles. He wants to get his hands going and make sure he is 100% ready to go. The margin for error in a bare-knuckle brawl is a lot thinner than a fight with gloves.

Paige VanZant To Have Final Fight On BKFC Contract In Early 2022

Paige VanZant will be returning for a bare knuckle contest at the beginning of the year, says BKFC President Dave Feldman.

PVZ has had a tough go of it recently, including her first two bouts in her bare knuckle career. She lost her debut to Britain Hart, before falling short on the scorecards in a rematch of her UFC fight with Rachel Ostovich, getting thoroughly beaten in both outings.

Now, Paige VanZant is looking to return to action in the first couple of months of 2022, says Bare Knuckle FC President Dave Feldman in an interview with BJPenn.com. Here, he revealed that VanZant is on the final fight of her contract, and he hopes that she can right the ship after her tough start.

“We are in talks with Paige and we will be bringing her back in early 2022. It is heartbreaking for her to lose her first two fights, but she is putting her heart back into this thing. We will work out a deal in the next week or so, and you will see Paige VanZant back in the BKFC ring,” Feldman said.

Feldman did not reveal any details of who they would like to see Paige VanZant face, although he did make it clear that the promotion is not interested in booking another fight with Rachel Ostovich, as some have suggested. With that in mind, there are really a wide array of matchups that could be made with her in mind while trying to salvage their investment into her star potential.

It is rather unfortunate to see how Paige VanZant has suffered in her recent run, with just one win in her last six fights. It is going to be worth paying attention to, and seeing if she re-signs with BKFC when her contract is up, or if she chooses to explore other natures.

30-year-old striker, Perry cryptically tweeted this evening, “Guess WTF I’m about to do?!” before the promotion issued a press release confirming he had put pen to paper on a multi-fight deal to compete under the BKFC banner. MMA Fighting reporter, Damon Martin was first to report the news of Perry’s signature to the promotion.

We’re thrilled to bring Mike [Perry] aboard to our vast stable of exciting fighters,” BKFC leader, Feldman said in a statement. “Over the last seven years he’s proven to be one of the toughest fighters in mixed martial arts and his skill set along with his aggressive style works very well for our growing international fanbase.

In a statement released by Perry himself, the Flint, Michigan native claimed that he was excited to demonstrate his skills to fans of bare knuckle fighting.

Mike Perry claims the BKFC will award him with a “platinum crown” and carry him on the back of his “rivals”

Let’s skip all the formalities!” Perry said. “This sport (bake knuckle fighting) is evolving and I am here to strike fear into the hearts of my competitors! I plan to intimidate the world when I show what a truly skilled combat specialist is capable of with his bare hands.

I will dismantle the opposition and reach the glory I have longed for my entire life,” Perry said. “I will be crowned king of the streets and king of combat sports. They will make me a platinum crown and carry me on the bloody backs of my defeated rivals. I am here to go straight to the top and make anyone think twice about entering my world. BKFC is my world.

Boasting a 14-8 professional record from 22 separate outings, Perry is currently in the midst of a two fight losing skid against both Tim Means and Daniel Rodriguez, the last of which came at UFC on ABC 2 in April in a main card opener.

The outspoken Perry has managed to take home 11 knockout victories from his 14 total wins, taking triumphs against the likes of Mickey Gall, Alex Oliveira, Paul Felder, Alex Reyes, Jake Ellenberger, Danny Roberts, and Hyun Gyu Lim.

Perry is also a one-fight professional boxing veteran, suffering a fourth round knockout loss against Kenneth McNeil back in March of 2015 at an event in Pensacola, Florida.
