Francis Ngannou, the Cameroonian heavyweight who currently holds the UFC lineal world title, claims that MMA fighters hit harder than boxers. Ngannou has competed at the highest levels of both MMA and boxing but explains that it’s not quite as simple as saying one is over the other.

Francis Ngannou

Cameroon’s Francis Ngannou has had an incredible life journey. He started working in sand mines as a child to pay for his schooling and support his family. Later, he left home and crossed the continent of Africa only to spend months in a camp in Morocco. Later, he was arrested and was homeless in Paris, France.

Just a few years after that, he would become the UFC heavyweight world champion, earning the title by stunning knockout, and even defending this crown. Due to contract disputes with UFC brass, Ngannou vacated his title and walked away from the organization.

Against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Francis Ngannou took on the best of the best in the world of heavyweight boxing. He also signed with the PFL and will fight the towering Brazilian knockout artist, and champion, Renan Ferreira on October 19 at the PFL Battle of the Giants.

Who Hits Harder? MMA or Boxing?

Speaking in an interview with Piers Morgan, Francis Ngannou explained which athletes hit harder, MMA fighters or boxers? He answered:

“I would say MMA [fighters]. It depends on the punch, it depends on how. But remember, MMA fight is like 4oz glove. Sometimes you get hit, not by the gloves, but by the knuckles. So, the sensation is different even if the punch isn’t very hard, the sensation is very different because it’s like bone to bone.”

The heavyweight fighter added that he will continue to compete in both boxing and MMA in the future. Ngannou said:

“You can be sure I’m not done here. It wasn’t my day. He was way better than me today. It sucks but it’s the game. We all know that.” [Ht Mirror]

"Mike can really hurt Jake" Boxing Icon 'Sugar' Shane Mosley Predicts Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson

Boxing icon ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley thinks Mike Tyson still has the power to do some serious damage to Jake Paul.

On Friday, November 15, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ will return to the boxing ring for his first professional fight in nearly two decades. Emanating from the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, ‘Iron’ will scrap with ‘The Problem Child’ who goes into the bout 31 years younger than the former unified heavyweight world champion.

That factoid has frustrated a lot of pundits who believe Paul is just setting himself up for another easy win against a combat sports legend who’s past his prime.

But even at 58 years old, some believe that Mike Tyson still has his signature power and if he manages to land one good one, it could be lights out for Paul in The Lone Star State.

Shane Mosley thinks Tyson has the power to put Paul’s lights out

One of those believers is Mosley, who spent some time training ‘The Problem Child’ for his pro boxing debut in 2020 and his showdown with Nate Diaz last year.

“If Mike really hits Jake, Mike can really hurt Jake, and I know what Mike can do and what Jake can do,” Mosley told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I don’t think Jake really understands how hard Mike can hit. Mike is 58, but these are two-minute rounds and all fighters have pride. I don’t think Mike will be going in there to lose to Jake Paul. Jake thinks he can take a shot.

“In the first five or six rounds, and what makes this so fun, is that getting hit by Mike Tyson is dangerous, very dangerous. Jake will have to tire Mike out. Jake will need to understand how these punches will come at him. People need to understand that a bar fight between two guys is one thing, a professional fighter, especially a former world champion, regardless of age, is still a very dangerous man who can seriously hurt you. I don’t know how long they would be able to hurt you [laughs], but these are punches from people who have been throwing punches all their lives” (h/t talkSPORT).

Jake Paul goes into his 12th career boxing match with a 10-1 record, his lone loss coming against Tommy Fury via split decision in February 2023. Since then, Paul has earned a unanimous decision win over Nate Diaz, a couple of first-round KOs against Andre August and Ryan Bourland, and a sixth-round finish over the BKFC’s ‘King of Violence’ Mike Perry.

Meanwhile, Tyson has been largely absent from the world of boxing since a June 2005 loss against Kevin McBride. Iron’ did return to the ring in 2020 for a charity boxing bout with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. that went a full eight rounds before being declared a draw.

In the interim, Tyson has been cashing checks via his Tyson 2.0 line of premium hemp products.

Turki Alalshikh Laughs off Jake Paul vs. KSI Fight: "I do boxing, not shows."

Turki Alalshikh has zero interest in promoting a fight between Jake Paul and KSI.

Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, has put his stamp on the sport of boxing in recent years by booking some of the biggest bouts fight fans have been clamoring to see. Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua’s recent scraps with Francis Ngannou and Daniel Dubois, and the upcoming clash between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, just to name a few.

Turki Alalshikh

In February 2023, Saudi Arabia also played host to Jake Paul’s showdown with Tommy Fury, though it sounds like His Excellency is not chomping at the bit to get back into business with ‘The Problem Child’ anytime soon.

Addressing the possibility of a long-rumored fight between Paul and fellow YouTube star KSI going down in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Alalshikh made it clear that he’s only interested in hosting another Paul fight once the 27-year-old decides to become a real boxer.

Turki Alalshikh

“I think he doesn’t like me right now and hasn’t for the past two months,” Alalshikh said. “I’ll be honest, I like him as part of the younger generation, and he has a lot of fans. My kids are among them. But I think he needs to decide what he really wants. “If he wants to be a real boxer, he needs to take on big fights against boxers, not treat it like a show. That’s my opinion because it’s damaging to boxing. I know he doesn’t like this, especially what I said about his last fight. I said it wasn’t boxing, and I’m not joking.

“If he wants to continue in this field and be part of Riyadh Season, he needs to fight real boxers. That’s my opinion. If he does that, I’ll support him.” When asked if he would ever support a fight between the two social media stars, Alalshikh said: “No, I would never support something like that, even if it’s popular with people. I do boxing, not shows” (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Currently, Jake Paul is gearing up for a fight with legendary heavyweight pugilist ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. The two are scheduled to tussle on Friday, November 15 live from the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Turki Alalshikh has no interest in the Influencer boxing scene

Alalshikh did make it clear that his objection is not just with Jake Paul, but with the entire influencer boxing scene. In short, Alalkshikh wants no part of it.

“Please, we don’t want any YouTuber fights again. I don’t talk about names. I want fighters, real fighters. This is what I support. For me, inside my heart, I want the fighters.”

Turki Alalshikh

Aside from the light heavyweight title fight between Beterbiev and Bivol at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Alalshikh will also deliver the highly anticipated rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday, December 21 in the Saudi Arabian capital.

The first time around, Usyk scored a split decision over ‘The Gyspy King’ to become boxing’s first unified heavyweight world champion in more than two decades.

Boxing King Terence Crawford Rejects Conor McGregor's Fight Offer: "Sometimes it ain’t about the money"

Terence Crawford was not interested in Conor McGregor’s two-fight offer.

During a live stream for the online gambling site Duelbits, McGregor revealed that he had offered the multi-weight boxing world champion a lucrative deal for two fights, one in the sweet science and another in mixed martial arts.

“Crawford is very slick, he also has a wrestling background pedigree,” McGregor said. “You know they’re always talking to me about bouts. I’ve already boxed a boxer, and the best boxer in MMA is me. You know what I mean? I generate the most. We were talking back and forth about a two-fight deal.”

Conor McGregor

McGregor didn’t offer any additional insight into why Crawford never signed the contract, but during a recent interview with Bernie The Boxer, ‘Bud’ shed some light on the situation.

“I told Conor, ‘Hell no.’ They called me and they offered me the fight and me and Conor got on the phone and started trying to figure something out,” Crawford said. “And I told him, ‘Man I ain’t getting into no Octagon with you so you can be kicking me and elbow me and sh*t.’ He started laughing and sh*t and he said ‘Man, I respect it. ‘You respect my sport just like I respect your sport and you understand that if you get in an Octagon you’re going to be at a disadvantage.

“‘Just like if I get into the boxing ring with you, I’m going to be at a disadvantage’. But he was like, ‘We will make a sh*t ton of money.’ I said, ‘Yeah, sometimes it ain’t about the money, I can make money but you ain’t about to be kicking me, dude.’ Kicks and elbows man that sh*t ain’t no joke” (h/t BJPenn.com).

Is Terence Crawford reconsidering Conor McGregor’s Offer?

Just how much money could Crawford have cleared for a two-off with the Irish megastar?

According to a post from McGregor himself, ‘Bud’ could walk away with nine figures by the time both fights are in the books.

Terence Crawford

“Big respect to @tbudcrawford! $100 million dollars a fight, 1 MMA, 1 boxing,” McGregor wrote in Instagram. “$200 million dollars!

After hearing the total number, it looks like Crawford might be starting to reconsider.

Ahead of his third title defense of 2024, UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira put in work with Brazilian knockout artist Igor Adiel Macedo.

On Saturday, ‘Poatan’ will put his 205-pound title up for grabs after netting a pair of back-to-back highlight-reel KOs earlier this year against Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka. This time, Pereira will face another heavy hitter as he meets streaking standout Khalil Rountree in the UFC 307 headliner.

Alex Pereira

Recently, Pereira shared a video on YouTube of him going for rounds with Macedo, a 13-1 professional boxer with all 13 of his victories coming by way of knockout.

It’s certainly not the first time ‘Poatan’ has tested his skills against a world-class pugilist. In 2023, Pereira posted footage of him sparring with Olympic boxer Khalil Coe.

In less than three years with the promotion, Alex Pereira has amassed an impressive 8-1 record, including victories over a slew of former world champions like Sean Strickland, Israel Adesanya, Jan Blachowicz, and the aforementioned Hill and Prochazka.

Hoping to shock the world in Salt Lake City, Khalil Rountree has established himself as one of the promotion’s exciting KO artists, finishing seven of his nine opponents. ‘The War Horse’ is currently riding a five-fight win streak with his most recent W coming against one-time title challenger Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith at a Fight Night event in December.

Jake Paul's mother fears for son's safety in Mike Tyson fight: 'My mum is very scared'

YouTuber and Boxer Jake Paul has found himself in hot water over a bribery defamation lawsuit going down in the courts. Mike Tyson isn’t the only opponent ‘The Problem Child’ needs to worry about.

Jake Paul is Being Sued

Jake Paul is being sued over defamation by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing over bribing a judge named Glenn Feldman to favor certain fighters in major boxing matches. Paul claimed that Hearn bribed Feldman to produce biased scorecards in fights involving Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor and Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk, where Serrano and Joshua both lost on points.

In September 2022, Serrano became the first athlete to sign with Paul’s promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, which aimed to elevate women’s boxing and ensure fairer treatment for female fighters. He was impressed by her performance and recognized her potential to draw attention to women’s boxing, which had been historically under-promoted.

Matchroom Boxing

Matchroom Boxing asked Paul to publicly retract his statement. When Paul refused, they filed a defamation lawsuit seeking over $100 million in damages. Glenn Feldman, the accused judge, joined the lawsuit as a co-plaintiff.

Most recently, a judge denied Paul’s attempt to have the case dismissed, meaning the lawsuit will proceed. The next legal step is a pre-trial conference on October 16, 2024, although Paul is not expected to attend.

Jake Paul will meet heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in a blockbuster boxing match on November 15 which will stream on Netflix. Afterward, sometime in 2025, ‘The Problem Child’ will make his MMA debut in the PFL. Paul has made a name for himself in the boxing world by defeating former UFC fighters such as Aderson Silva, Mike Perry, Ben Askren, and Tyron Woodley, among others.
