UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic provided a warning to the Paul brothers.

Logan Paul is set to face Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition boxing match next month while his brother Jake is reportedly slated to box Ben Askren in March.

Jake, in particular, has been calling out a number of MMA fighters for a boxing match ever since his knockout of former NBA point guard Nate Robinson in November. Among the names he has called out since include Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis to name a few.

And while many are favoring him over Askren, Miocic believes Jake and his brother shouldn’t be biting off more than they can chew — even if they are bringing more publicity to the sport.

“I mean, they say social media is a motherf*cker,” Miocic said on the Pat McAfee Show. “They’re doing it right, it’s helping boxing, but also it’s helping everything because they’re calling UFC fighters out, too. Or even the Bellator guys.

“Don’t bite off more than you can chew. I mean, yes, you may be a tough guy, but Askren has been in some scraps. That dude’s been around, you know, fighting and wrestling and all that. I tell people like, you get into a fight on the streets — look at the dude’s ears first. If the dude’s ears are cauliflowers, you walk away. I would walk away!”

That said, Miocic wishes them the best but reiterated his warning.

“I wish them all the best,” Miocic added. “I understand why they’re doing it, it’s all about the money. But at the same time, don’t bite off more than you can chew.”

The next few months will certainly show us if they have indeed bitten off more than they can chew.

Logan Paul was shocked at the criticism directed at him from UFC president Dana White.

White recently hit out at the Paul brothers for venturing into the combat sports with Logan set to box Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition match next month while his brother Jake is reportedly set to box Ben Askren.

“The answer to that question is, who gives a (expletive)? Neither one of those guys can fight,” White said recently when asked of the Paul brothers. “It’s all a big gimmick. Like I said in a (recent) press conference, there’s a market for that. If people are dumb enough to spend their money watching that (expletive), I don’t know what to tell you.

“Good luck to them. I (couldn’t) care less what that guy (does). I get it. He’s trying to make some money and is doing his thing. There are people who want to spend money on that. I’m not that guy.”

White was directing his criticism more towards Jake who has verbally attacked the UFC head honcho extensively on social media in recent weeks.

Logan, on the other hand, is a fan of White and the UFC and did not want to be grouped along with Jake.

“He [Jake] pissed off Dana White,” Paul said on his podcast. “Now Dana has grouped us together which sucks. I love Dana White, I love the UFC. Now Dana thinks we’re the same person.

“We’re so different. I love the UFC fights. I want to do a UFC fight one day. I’m not saying now, let me get my skills up. Dana, take me back. I’m not Jake! Please. Bro, he’s given me tickets to go to UFC fights before. F*ck! F*ck! I love Conor McGregor dude.”

Maybe White will single out Jake in the future but for now, it looks like no more free tickets for Logan.

Anthony Pettis

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis recently revealed his interest in a potential future in boxing. In an interview with TMZ, Pettis was asked for his thoughts on the success of Jake Paul’s most recent victory against Nate Robinson. Contrary to much of the MMA community’s thoughts on the matter, Pettis was primarily complimentary about the younger Paul brother. However Pettis stated that he is extremely interested in entering the world of boxing, mentioning that his love of the sport was what originally got him into MMA.

Upon being asked if he would be interested in a matchup with Jake Paul, ‘Showtime’ stated: “Bro I would love to box. I still haven’t boxed yet, so I’m 0-0.” He also remarked “I’m only 33 and I’ve been doing this MMA thing for so long.” Pettis would undeniably serve as the greatest test for Jake Paul yet, with high level striking and legitimate knockout power. Fights against Dillon Danis and Ben Askren are also potential options for Jake Paul.

Pettis has since signed with the Professional Fighters League, more commonly referred to as the PFL. Whilst this would imply that the former champ is likely to have his immediate future set on MMA, a potential one off boxing match may be an option. Alternatively, Dana White has constantly teased the idea of Zuffa Boxing over the past few years. With Pettis being such an established name, this could serve as an excellent future option for him.

He also mentioned that he may venture into kickboxing. Recent performances against Thompson and Morono prove that Pettis is still a very real threat in regards to striking prowess. Throughout his career Showtime has consistently shown his best when fighting a kickboxing style fight.

Should Showtime not face Paul in the ring, he may still have an impact on his boxing career. As MMA MANIA reported, Pettis has volunteered to help Askren train to fight Jake.

Do you think that Anthony Pettis would defeat Jake Paul?

Paige VanZant

Paige VanZant is set to make her Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut opposite Britain Hart on February 5 according to MMA Fighting.

The report came soon after VanZant took to social media to confirm she has signed a bout agreement but stopped short of revealing who her opponent will be or what date her BKFC debut will fall on.

“Best of 2020 is this picture right here,” VanZant wrote on Instagram. “Bout agreement signed for my @bareknucklefc debut. February 5th baby!!!! Let’s go!!”

‘PVZ’ shocked many in the MMA world by turning her back on the sport to pursue a career in bare-knuckle boxing. The popular fighter has previously insisted her decision was not motivated by money rather a desire to prove her toughness.

“It wasn’t strictly financial for me,” Paige VanZant said. “I actually had three or four big players when it came to negotiating contracts. So I had four awesome offers to look at. I think everyone kind of expected me to go to Bellator cause that’s where my husband [Austin Vanderford] fights. And of course, that aspect did intrigue me, I’d love to fight for the same organization as him. It makes sense career-wise, I guess. But, the passion in me wanted to go to bare-knuckle.

“I feel like looking at my fight career, yeah I have an equal amount of submission finishes, knockouts, and like a decision. So for me, it was more about when you look at my whole fight career, the one thing that stands out above anything is how tough I am and I carried that through every single fight and I think the people who really make it in bare-knuckle boxing are the people who are tough. It’s a sport for only the toughest of the tough. And that’s where I want to show my worth and my value. At the same time, I get to utilize and sharpen what I feel is one of my best weapons and that’s my striking.”

“I may go back to MMA, we don’t know,” VanZant finished. “But right now I’m truly passionate about this bare-knuckle boxing and I’m excited to see where it takes me.”

Do you think Paige VanZant will be victorious in her BKFC debut?

Dana White: Amanda Nunes Will Put Jake Paul In A Coma

Dana WhiteDana White has warned Jake Paul against fighting dual weight UFC champion Amanda Nunes as she’d literally put him in a coma. Dana White

Dana White has warned Jake Paul against fighting dual weight UFC champion Amanda Nunes as she’d literally put him in a coma.

Paul transitioned to boxing in 2020 and has looked impressive against poor opposition. In November he stretched his professional record to 2-0 by knocking out former NBA player Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.

Post-fight the internet celebrity issued a call out to Conor McGregor and his SBG teammate Dillon Danis. Paul has since been trolling pretty much every high-profile MMA fighter in or around his weight class but is yet to find an opponent for his next fight.

Meanwhile, his older brother Logan Paul has secured perhaps the biggest fight available. Despite having next to no boxing experience he will square off against Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout on February 20.

White gave a fiery response when asked about the Paul Brothers on a recent episode of the SHOUT! Buffalo podcast, he said.

“The answer to that question is, who gives a (expletive)? Neither one of those guys can fight. It’s all a big gimmick. Like I said in a (recent) press conference, there’s a market for that. If people are dumb enough to spend their money watching that (expletive), I don’t know what to tell you. Good luck to them. I (couldn’t) care less what that guy (does). I get it. He’s trying to make some money and is doing his thing. There are people who want to spend money on that. I’m not that guy.”

White previously threatened to set his female double-champ on the younger Paul brother who shied away from the fight claiming “no-one knows” who Amanda Nunes is. The UFC boss praised Paul for making the right decision by avoiding a fight with the Brazilian knockout artist who would do serious damage to him in the ring.

“Amanda Nunes will knock that kid out,” White said. “To even think about that guy fighting, he’s like, ‘I’m never going to fight a woman.’ You shouldn’t. You shouldn’t because she’ll put you in a coma. That guy is just some kid off the street. One of the big problems with him right now, he’s lucky there’s a pandemic. He’s talking smack about real people – real people that he could run into at a restaurant some night and things like that. This isn’t a real guy. This is just some kid on YouTube.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Do you agree with Dana White? Would Amanda Nunes put Jake Paul in a coma if they fought?

Victor Ortiz Believes Logan Paul Will Give Floyd Trouble

Ortiz

Former WBC Welterweight champion Victor Ortiz recently stated that he believes Logan Paul can cause Floyd Mayweather Jr. real trouble in their upcoming fight on the 20th of February and explains what sparring with Paul is like.

Speaking with MMA Fighting Ortiz said “holy crap” when speaking about how Paul knocked out three of his sparring partners. “Mind you, these are full-on professional boxers,” Ortiz stated. “I sat back in shock and awe. He was so composed and relaxed. He used his reach perfect – took a little step, hook down the middle, sleep. Night-night. My only complaint there is that he didn’t read him a bedtime story.”

“I know what I know, and I know what I see,” Ortiz said. “What I’m saying, in a sense, is that he will give Floyd trouble.”

Then Ortiz went on to talk about his relationship with Paul and the advice he offered him, “He’s a dear friend, and I believe in him, I’m telling you, it’s going to be an interesting fight. I’ve talked to him about Floyd a few times. … I give him the simple things: ‘Floyd is Floyd, but you’re unstoppable. You’re on another level.’ I strongly believe Floyd will have trouble. Logan can box, and he has power, reach speed, and he can move now.”

When asked about how fight fans have reacted to the fight Ortiz said, “I can absolutely see 110 percent why they would be upset, I can agree to a certain extent. But honestly, realistically, today’s society is about numbers. You can be one heck of a boxer, but if you’re not putting butts in seats, you ain’t getting paid.”

The 33 year old also believes that Paul is a bigger threat to Mayweather than UFC star Conor McGregor, “Conor couldn’t do nothing,” said Ortiz. “I don’t mean to speak bad. Conor’s a heck of a UFC fighter in the octagon, but he has no business in a ring, as opposed to someone like Logan – Logan learned in a ring. So his stuff is all standup. Everything about Logan is boxing, angles, moving, so it’s two different worlds. I couldn’t tell you what someone like Logan or myself could do in an octagon, but stick to what you know. And Logan, he knows boxing right now.”

“McGregor’s a hell of a boxer, I’m a huge fan of McGregor. I’ve always pulled for Conor, except for when he fought Floyd.” Ortiz said, “Floyd shut it down when Floyd was done playing. He said, ‘OK, I just gave the world a show. I’m going to put you night night.’ Did he catch him a couple of times? Absolutely. It’s a fight, for god’s sake. But Floyd was going to shut it down when Floyd wanted to.”

Talking about the fight itself Ortiz talks about how Mayweather sees it, “[Mayweather] found a YouTuber – that sounds easy enough for a 20-time world champion, alright, let’s beat him up. But what I’ve been watching and seeing is a YouTuber gone professional boxer who puts in hours and hours of work studying films. He’s very disciplined, and he’s working his butt off, and he listens. He has a heck of a coach [in Milton Lacroix] who’s very knowledgeable and very experienced. I believe it’s a dangerous combo.” He then goes on to say, “from what I see at the gym, I can honestly say Logan can probably hit harder than [Mayweather], now, who’s more accurate? We’ll see Feb. 20.”

Ortiz previously faced Mayweather in 2011 and lost via KO in the fourth round. When speaking about their fight Ortiz said “I literally had my hands down in front of him, and I took four straight rights in the middle of the ring [I said], ‘C’mon champ, show me how hard you hit.’ I took them flush in the mouth. Which one dropped me and which one ‘knocked me out?’ When I was looking outside the ring, waiting for a time-in, he went back to the corner, ran up, unloaded a right. My three-year-old could drop me, too, if I wasn’t looking.”

Do you think Logan Paul has a change against Floyd Mayweather Jr?
