The finale of “The Ultimate Fighter 27” went down tonight (Friday, July 6, 2018) from the Pearl Theatre in Paradise, Nevada. The night was headlined by hot middleweight prospect Israel Adesanya taking on longtime staple and Top-10 185er Brad Tavares. The New Zealander passed the biggest test of his career, beating Tavares from pillar to post for the entire 25 minutes.

In the lightweight final of “The Ultimate Fighter 27”, Mike Trizano outlasted Joe Giannetti. Their fight was a weird one. Giannetti seemed relaxed to a fault. His flowy, kick-centric style worked for a round. Trizano got his wrestling going in round two, leading to some weird and awkward positions. “The Lone Wolf” then stayed busy, composed, and moving forward in the decisive round to seal it.

The featherweight final saw Jay Cucciniello’s bid for a remarkable comeback halted by a smart, workmanlike performance from Brad Katona. A steady diet of hooks and leg kicks backed up by takedowns and top control later buoyed the Canadian to a clear-cut decision victory.

A potential star was set to rise when touted middleweight prospect Israel Adesanya met longtime vet Brad Tavares in the main event of last night’s (Fri., July 6, 2018) The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 27 Finale from the Pearl Theatre in Paradise, Nevada.

And when the dust settled, Adesanya had proved why he rates as one of the UFC’s biggest prospects by impressively dominating the No. 8-ranked middleweight in the UFC from pillar to post.

“The Last Stylebender” looked nothing short of amazing with his varied striking offense, landing fast low and body kicks, laser-like punches, and vicious Muay Thai knees and elbows for five full rounds. Tavares could mount little offense, throwing several wild shots and missing on all but 1 of his unofficial 11 takedown attempts.

Adesanya started his parade of massive significant strikes by nailing Tavares with a body kick that appeared to rock him momentarily:

Adesanya then wobbled Tavares with a sharp two-punch combination featuring an exclamation point of a right hand:

Finally, “The Last Stylebender” scored with a move that looked like it was straight out Anderson Silva’s playbook, grabbing Tavares’ wrist and hitting him with a perfect short elbow that gave him a nasty cut for the rest of the fight:

Adesanya was then declared the clear-cut winner in by far his biggest UFC fight to stay undefeated and continue his rise up to the top of the UFC 185-pound class:

Right away in the fourth round, Adesanya connected with a combination. Tavares shot in and he was finally able to take his opponent down. Adesanya locked in a triangle, but couldn’t hold it. Tavares took the back of Adesanya, but he was too close to the fence. Adesnaya got back up and used a kimura to get his opponent on the ground. The fight stood back up and Adesanya had Tavares’ nose leaking blood. Herb Dean called time for the doctor to look at a cut above the eye of Tavares. It was from a short elbow. Time resumed and Adesanya continued to look as fresh as he did in round one. Adesanya landed a knee to the body.

The final round was underway and Tavares couldn’t get a takedown. Adesanya stuffed another takedown atteempt and ended up in top control. Tavares went for a kneebar, but there was nothing there.
