The Professional Fighters League is back this week, with the championship finals at light heavyweight and lightweight set to be be decided inside the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.

In the 205-pound main event, 2023 PFL kingpin Impa Kasanganay returns for the next step in his pursuit of back-to-back titles. And to reach a second consecutive final, “Tshilobo” must get again the better of his championship opponent from last year, Josh Silveira.

The 2024 PFL Playoffs will resume this Friday with matchups from the light heavyweight and lightweight divisions. Before the bouts can be official, the fighters must weigh in today.

PFL will host the continuation of the playoffs at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. The main event is a light heavyweight rematch between Impa Kasanganay and Josh Silveira.

In their first clash, Kasanganay won by unanimous decision to become the 2023 PFL light heavyweight champion. The former UFC fighter found success by outpacing Silveira for five rounds to get the judges’ approval. Kasanganay comes into the fight after amassing 11 points to qualify for the playoffs and will target a win to secure a second straight championship finale. That said, his opponent will be motivated to avenge last year’s result and keep his hopes of moving on to the championship alive.

The co-main event, meanwhile, will feature Rob Wilkinson taking on Dovlet Yagshimuradov in another light heavyweight semifinal. Both fighters are on impressive win streaks and qualified for the playoffs tied with nine points in the regular season. Currently, DraftKings has 2022 champ Wilkinson as a slight favorite to advance to the next tournament round.

The PFL 8 preliminary card is expected to kick off the event at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT on ESPN+. The main card will air on ESPN and stream on ESPN+ at 9 PM ET/ 6 PM PT.

Bellator 268 takes place live tonight from the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The World Light-heavyweight Grand Prix continues and if the fights in that tournament aren’t intriguing to you, then the lightweight bout on the main card should be, and it does not seem to be getting enough attention.

Two former lightweight champions are squaring off on this card and the matchup is so good, picking a winner might be difficult. The #3-ranked lightweight Benson Henderson faces off against former lightweight champion Brent Primus. It can be easy to forget how good of a grappler Primus is, so their jiu-jitsu just might cancel each other’s grappling out. It’s a hard one to call, but it should be fun to watch.

In the main event, former Bellator lightweight champion Brent Primus locked up Tim Wilde with a gogoplata in the first round. The finish only took Primus just over a minute to pull off.

Check it out here:

Primus came off the first loss of his career, dropping the 155-pound strap to Michael Chandler via unanimous decision in December. Now, the 34-year-old is back in the win column, hoping to get back to the lightweight title picture as soon as possible.

Michael Chandler met Brent Primus in the main event of Bellator 212 on Friday (Dec. 14, 2018) night. “Iron” Mike did not disappoint.

Also known as “USO’s Salute to the Troops”, Bellator 212 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii was headlined by the anticipated lightweight title rematch between Chandler and Primus.

The rematch was 18 months in the making but it lived up to the wait.

Chandler wasted little time stalking Primus and clipped the champion with a big left hand early in the first. The champ regained his composure on the ground and nearly finished the fight in the second round via rear naked choke.

The third and fourth round would see Chandler batter the champion for the majority of the frames.

The fifth and final round would see the champion scramble for a submission as he is most likely going to lose a decision. However, Chandler’s top game was much too dominate for Primus.

Chandler beats Primus and becomes the only three-time champion in Bellator history.
