Ramsey Nijem is a contestant on this season of the Ultimate Fighter. When Ramsey Nijem showed up to take his place as one of the cast members on Season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter, he was battling a case of bronchitis. So when the 14 fighters on the show were asked to work out for coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos, Nijem was operating at less than 100 percent.

So when dos Santos made Nijem the fourth choice on his seven-man team, Nijem breathed a sigh of relief — at least he wasn’t picked last.

In an interview with MMAFighting.com, Nijem discussed his thoughts on getting chosen to Team Dos Santos, what it was like hearing a speech from UFC President Dana White on the first day of taping, and what he thought about the first fight of Season 13, between Shamar Bailey and Nordin Asrih.

Nijem also talked a bit about his background and his recent work as a sparring partner for Jake Shields. The full interview is below.

Junior dos SantosDuring the 12-season run of The Ultimate Fighter, many of the most memorable moments have involved the show’s coaches. Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz wanted to kill one another. So did Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson. Josh Koscheck spent most of his time on the show trying to get under Georges St. Pierre’s skin. Multiple coaches have broken the door that leads into the Ultimate Fighter gym.

But from the way Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos are talking, moments like those are going to be lacking on the 13th season of the show, which begins on Wednesday night. On a conference call to promote their show, Lesnar and dos Santos were nothing but respectful toward each other, and they indicated that they both prefer to save any negative energy they feel for each other until they fight in June.

It was only a few months ago that speculation was rampant as to whether or not Brock Lesnar would ever fight again, following his ‘that’s it?’ defeat to Cain Velasquez in October. According to some, the UFC was about to lose one of, if not, its biggest draw.

Well, of course, not only is “The Minnesota Monster” not ready to hang up the 4 oz gloves, Lesnar has jumped square in the middle of the scalding spotlight, coaching the upcoming season of TUF, appearing on Jimmy Fallon, and writing a book. All this before the usually grumpy, ‘don’t talk to me’ former champ is set to fight Junior Dos Santos in June. People are talking lots of Brock again and Dana White couldn’t be happier.

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, Lesnar finally talked about the vicious pounding he received from Velasquez at UFC 121, and he didn’t sugar coat what happened .

“I just watched the fight a week ago, and I think it boils down to last year I had a lot going on in my life. I fought through diverticulitis; made my comeback and fought through Shane Carwin, and then fought Cain Velasquez. As I watched the fight I could see that there was probably, I wasn’t able to overcome Cain’s…I really don’t know what happened. He beat my ass; that’s what happened. If I put it that way. It’s one of those things; I don’t like to lose and you dust yourself off, get back on the horse and here I am.”

Things are always interesting when Brock’s around no? Lesnar also discussed that whole bit with The Undertaker and coaching TUF; check out the entire interview here.

Last night Brock Lesnar appeared as a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and he came across nicely well-spoken. The only thing we can think to poke fun of is that he doesn’t seem to regret that giant penis sword on his chest, saying “Somewhere in my mind, I thought, that would look good on my chest.” As we maturely refrain from any homosexual jokes here, we’ll just say… Hey Brock, it doesn’t.
