Earning an extra $50,000 for their performances were Travis Browne for “Knockout of the Night,” Daniel Pineda for “Submission of the Night,” Cat Zingano and Miesha Tate for “Fight of the Night.”

The TUF 17 Finale took place on April 13, 2013 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card aired on FX while the prelim card was split between Fuel TV and streaming video on Facebook.

At the post fight presser, White announced an attendance of 5,549 fans for a live gate of $569,000.

Browne took 71-seconds to finish opponent Gabriel Gonzaga by knockout in their bout. The Brazilian would pin the Hawaiian against the cage looking for a takedown, Browne would respond by dropping elbows to the side of Gonzaga’s head dropping him to the mat.

Pineda also finished his opponent quickly, needing 95-seconds to submit opponent Justin Lawrence with a kimura in the opening bout of the event on Facebook. Pineda would take Lawrence to the mat a couple of times in the opening minute, and with the second takedown Pineda would secure the arm to finish the fight.

The second women’s bout in the Octagon began and ended with a flourish of action as Zingano and Tate looked to knockout the other. The two fighters would battle back-and-forth through the first two rounds, with Zingano finally taking charge in the third after connecting with a series of knees. The stunned Tate wasn’t able to recover and after falling to the mat the referee jumped in to stop the match.

UFC on FUEL TV 9 posterUFC president Dana White awarded bonuses of $60,000 to fighters Conor McGregor, Reza Madadi, Brad Pickett and Mike Easton following today’s UFC on FUEL TV 9 event.

White broke his promotions new rule of awarding $50,000 bonuses by telling the media at the post-fight press conference that the “Fight Night” winners should award part of their bonuses to Diego Brandao. Brandao had apparently successfully negotiated for bigger bonuses with the UFC president during his ‘pre-game’ speech to the fighters.

UFC on FUEL TV 9: Mousasi vs. Latifi took place at the Ericksson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

The UFC pres announced an attendance of 14,506 and a live gate of $2,710,530. The attendance was slightly lower than the UFC’s first visit one year ago at UFC on FUEL TV 2 which drew 15,428 fans with a slightly lower gate of $2.23 million.

“Knockout of the Night” went to McGregor, with “Submission of the Night” going to Madadi, and “Fight of Night” went to Pickett and Easton.

Irish fighter Conor McGregor made his Octagon debut versus Marcus Brimage and wasted little time by picking up a TKO finish at 67-seconds into the first. McGregor took a few punches from Brimage before finding his range and following it up for the finish.

Madadi faced off with Michael Johnson in a back and forth battle. Madadi would take a kick to the head in the first and was almost finished by Johnson but managed to survive the round. The two would battle into the third and Madadi would find himself in top control toying with Johnson. As Johnson would move to defend himself, Madadi would sink in a D’Arce choke to force the tap earning his second straight victory.

Pickett and Easton battled for three rounds, trading on their feet and on the ground. The hard hitting Englishman would earn scores of 30-27 and 30-27 from the judges while Easton was awarded a 29-28 from the third judge. Picket picked up the split decision, erasing a split decision loss to Eddie Wineland in his last fight.

With the Ultimate Fighting Championship standardizing “Fight Night” bonuses at $50,000 for all events all that was left to do following Saturday nights UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz was to name the recipients.

Earning “Knockout of the Night” was Jake Ellenberger for his first round finish of Nate Marquardt, while co-main event welterweights Johny Hendricks and Carlos Condit walked away with the “Fight of the Night” bonus.

With no submission finish taking place, no “Submission of the Night” bonus was handed out.

UFC 158 took place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and drew a reported attendance of 20,145 for a live gate total of $3.71 million. Those totals were greater than the promotions last visit to Montreal this past November at UFC 154 with an attendance of 17,249 for a gate of $3.143 million.

Ellenberger welcomed former Strikeforce champ Nate Marquardt back to the Octagon on the main card of UFC 158. ‘The Juggernaut’ earned his eighteenth (T)KO finish of his pro-career by finishing ‘The Great’ in the first round. Ellenberger landed with a flurry of punches and as Marquardt attempted a single leg to save himself, ended up taking more punches which left him temporarily unconscious. Marquardt would get back to his feet in protest but the replay showed that he was visibly unconscious.

Co-main event welterweights Hendricks and Condit were battling for a No. 1 contender spot. The two battled for three rounds with Hendricks utilizing his wrestling, along with attempts at the ‘one-punch’ finish, to take Condit to the mat. While ‘The American Pyscho’ used his striking to keep things interesting throughout the fifteen minutes. In the end, it was Hendricks wrestling that proved the decision maker with scores of 29-28 across the board.

Former PRIDE star Wanderlei ‘The Axe Murderer’ Silva had fans on the edge of their seats at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan in his UFC on FUEL TV 8 main event bout with Brian Stann.

His performance earned him the “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night” bonus for the television event walking away with an extra $100,000 in bonuses.

Also earning an extra $50,000 was Stann for “Fight of the Night” and to co-main event heavyweight Mark Hunt for “Knockout of the Night.” With no submissions taking place on the card no “Submission of the Night” bonus was handed out.

UFC president Dana White announced the “Fight Night” winners on Twitter (@danawhite) following the live event.

FON=Wandy vs Stann KO= Wandy and Hunt!!!! Both win 50k

Silva and Stann stole the show after throwing caution to the wind in the first round of their bout. Both men came out swinging with knockdowns by both fighters. An errant kick to the groin of Silva caused a short stoppage but simply allowed both fighters a chance to catch their breaths and resume where they left off. Into the second and both fighters began to slow down looking to pick their shots rather than throwing punches with abandon. As many expected, things would come to an end as Silva would land a combination with a clipping right followed by a big left hand sending Stann to the mat. ‘The Axe Murderer’ would follow up with a few more punches knocking Stann out at 4:08 of the round.

The co-main event saw heavyweights Hunt and Struve square off in a size mismatch with the ‘Skyscraper’ standing a foot taller than the ‘Super Samoan.’ The first round saw both men trying to find their range and a successful takedown by Struve. This is where many thought Struve would take the fight as the Dutch fighter would attempt to secure a submission but Hunt looked impressive by fighting off the attacks. Hunt found himself in full mount in both the first and second rounds, with shots reigning down from Struve and would manage to escape. Into the third round, it was very visible that both men were tired with hands down and mouths open. The two would trade a few punches and it would be Hunt who would land a couple of looping punches landing a stunner from his right hand which was followed by a huge left hook which sent Struve to the mat. Without waiting to see the results of the punch Hunt simply turned and walked away. Referee Herb Dean told Struve to keep fighting but the ‘Skyscraper’ wasn’t able to continue because of a broken jaw. The end came at 1:44 of the second round.
