Canelo Alvarez Mocks Turki Alalshikh's Rant with a Laugh

Canelo Alvarez and Turki Alalshikh’s relationship is off to a rough start.

Hours after Terence Crawford defeated Israil Madrimov to become a four-weight world champion, Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, expressed an interest in booking a bout between Crawford and Alvarez, who is also a four-weight titleholder.

Canelo Alvarez

However, Alvarez quickly poured cold water on the idea, noting that his focus was squarely on a clash with Edgar Berlanga scheduled for September 14 in Las Vegas. ‘Canelito’ also made his thoughts on Alalshikh quite clear.

“My response to Turki is this: Yesterday they texted me, and they said, ‘We can talk about the fight in February with Crawford?’ They text me yesterday,” Alvarez told Fight Hub TV. “I said, ‘Look, I don’t want to talk about any other fight. I’m focused 100 percent on this fight.’ Look, I don’t like the way he talks. I’m not in this position because of anything. If he wants to work with me, it’s in my way, not in their way. I don’t need it.”

Since then, Alalshikh claims to have lost interest in working with Alvarez, instead opting to focus on some of this year’s big events, including a Wembley Stadium card headlined by Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois and an anticipated rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Still, that didn’t stop Alalshikh from snapping back at Alvarez, accusing the Guadalajara native of chasing easy fights in a lengthy post on social media.

“I heard what Canelo said, that he respects me but doesn’t like the way we do business,” Alalshikh wrote on X. “As for him respecting me, it doesn’t matter to me if he does or not. As for the way I do business, I know why he doesn’t like it, because I only target big fights at fair prices, so of course anyone who likes easy fights won’t like that. And I know how he feels after losing to Bivol, so he’s been looking for easier fights ever since. Also, I’m not the one who’s afraid of fighting Benavidez or Crawford.

“Therefore, I knew he was wasting our time and making excuses with big amounts of money that can’t be paid. So I’m continuing my way to make big fights that serve the boxing world, and he’s on his way to making easy show-only fights.”

Canelo Alvarez reacts to Alalshikh’s latest online jab

Alvarez has since reacted to Alalshik’s latest dig online, utilizing only a pair of laughing emojis.

Canelo Alvarez is 61-2 overall with 39 of his victories coming by way of knockout. His only losses have come against Floyd Mayweather in 2013 and Dmitry Bivol in 2022. Since the loss to Bivol, ‘Canelito’ has won four straight, including unanimous decision W’s against Gennady Golovkin, John Ryder, Jermell Charlo, and Jaime Munguía.

Next, Alvarez will defend his WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles against Berlanga at T-Mobile Arena.

Canelo Alvarez Hits Back at Conor McGregor’s Taunts with Cold Response: "He’s my son"

Boxing icon Canelo Alvarez recently responded to Conor McGregor’s claim that he’s no longer a draw.

On September 14, Alvarez will return to the squared circle for a clash with Edgar Berlanga in Las Vegas, the same night as UFC 306 when the promotion makes its big debut at Sphere.

Ahead of his showdown with Berlanga, Alvarez shared some insight into why his long-rumored fight with undefeated sensation David Benavidez still hasn’t come to fruition. Alvarez clarified that he’d only sign on the dotted line if it guaranteed him a $200 million payday — a demand McGregor found quite humorous.

“Canelo is a cornflake,” McGregor said in a since-deleted post on X. “He has about 300k buys in him. He does not generate nothing near what he seeks to be paid. UFC NOCHE is going to run them from the strip. Sheik Turki was right moving on. CANELO DOESN’T SELL.”

Conor McGregor on Canelo Alvarez

‘Canelito’ responded to McGregor’s comments following the recent Alvarez vs. Berlanga pre-fight press conference.

“What’s happening is that he’s helping Dana White to sell for the UFC,” Alvarez told Abraham Gonzales. “That’s why he’s saying that, but he knows he’s my son.”

Canelo Alvarez has fought six times since conor McGregor’s last Octagon Appearance

Since coming up short against Dmitry Bivol in 2022, Canelo Alvarez has won four straight, including wins over Gennady Golovkin, John Ryder, Jermell Charlo, and Jaime Munguía. Overall, Alvarez is 61-2 with 39 of his wins coming by way of knockout. His last finish came against Caleb Plant nearly four years ago.

Meanwhile, Conor McGregor has continued to work towards his Octagon return following a devastating leg break against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Originally, ‘Mystic Mac’ was scheduled to headline UFC 303 in June, but a broken pinky toe took him out of his main event matchup with Michael Chandler.

Rumors suggest that their scrap will be rebooked for UFC 310 in December, but no official announcement has been made.

Set to make his return to the ring next month in a super middleweight title fight against the unbeaten, Edgar Berlanga, defending champion, Canelo Alvarez is unlikely to set the world alight with pay-per-view numbers – according to UFC star, Conor McGregor.

Set to make his return to action next month in Las Vegas, Alvarez puts his undisputed WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles on the line against the unbeaten New York challenger, Berlanga in the pair’s heated grudge match.

Canelo Alvarez Targets Eighth-Round KO of Edgar Berlanga: 'I Make Them Pay When They Piss Me Off' Scheduled to defend his super middleweight crowns next month in Las Vegas, dominant champion, Canelo Alvarez has plans to stop incoming foe, New York native, Edgar Berlanga inside eight rounds in their title grudge match in ‘Sin City’. Set to return to action next month in Las Vegas, Mexican favorite, Alvarez will put his WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight crowns on the line on September 14. in a showdown against unbeaten contender, Berlanga. And sharing the stage at a pre-fight press conference this week ahead of their title matchup next month, Alvarez claimed he would stop Berlanga in the eight round in a brutal knockout with security officials keeping distant between the duo throughout. “You hit like my son,” Canelo Alvarez replied to Edgar Berlanga. “You don’t bring anything to me that I haven’t seen before. Eight rounds – mark my words. I’m not going to have compassion. These kind of motherf*ckers keep me motivated.” https://x.com/Canelo/status/1821006266686435718 “I don’t want to f*ck you up right now because money will be gone,” Canelo Alvarez explained. “I love it [when my opponent p*sses me off]. When someone gets under my skin, I make them pay the hard way. He thinks’s he has more intelligence than me and everyone I’ve fought. Come on, bro. He’s not gonna be able to touch me/. I wanna see him try.”

Last featuring in April, Guadalajara native, Alvarez turned in a unanimous decision win over compatriot, Jaime Munguia over the course of 12 rounds in Nevada – extending his winning spree at the weight class to four fights following an unsuccessful move to light heavyweight, where he lost to Dmitry Bivol in a title charge.

As for McGregor, the former undisputed UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, has been heavily linked with an end-of-year return at UFC 310 in December, in the form of a welterweight fight with rescheduled foe, Michael Chandler.

McGregor was scheduled to headline UFC 303 at the end of June during International Fight Week, however, withdrew from the matchup with former three-time Bellator MMA champion, Chandler after fracturing a toe on his left foot.

Conor McGregor hits out at Canelo Alvarez

Hitting out at Alvarez as the UFC prepare to host a Noche card on the same date at the Las Vegas Sphere, McGregor has looked to quell potential concerns of a pay-per-view clash on the same night – claiming Alvarez “doesn’t sell”.

Paddy Pimblett Posts Reaction To UFC 304 Main Event, Belal Muhammad Becoming Champion

A video posted on Paddy Pimblett’s YouTube channel gives fight fans a behind the scenes look at his fight night experience this past weekend.

“The Baddy” delivered one of the performances of the night at UFC 304 in Manchester when he submitted King Green in the first round to earn a lightweight ranking.

The main event, however, did not end on such good terms for the UK fighters and fans as Belal Muhammad defeated Leon Edwards to become the welterweight champion.

In the video, Pimblett is seen reacting to the official decision before going on to label Muhammad as the “most boring champion ever.”

Turki Alalshikh Not Worried About Saudi-Backed UFC 306 Going Up Against Canelo Álvarez

It’s incredibly rare to see any major sporting events going up against the UFC, but that is exactly what Canelo Álvarez will look to do on September 14 with his fight against Edgar Berlanga.

Alvarez has a track record for fighting on Mexican Independence Day, but he missed out on this last year after the UFC booked the T-Mobile Arena for the first Noche UFC card.

The MMA leader will instead be hosting UFC 306 this year at the Sphere, which is being built up to be an event like no other.

Part of the reason that both events are going head-to-head in Las Vegas is because UFC 306 is being sponsored by Riyadh Season and the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority, which has allowed the UFC to go big on this particular card, meaning Álvarez could run the T-Mobile on this occasion.

Speaking to ESPN, Turki Alalshikh gave a short response to how he believes the Saudi-backed Sphere event will compete with Álvarez.

“We will eat him,”

Chael Sonnen Says Tom Aspinall Is Doing Something That Even Mike Tyson Struggled With

Tom Aspinall’s incredible ability to end fights early on means that he has unbelievably low amounts of Octagon time despite being a world champion.

The interim heavyweight champ has said it himself that he wants opponents to test him in deeper waters but nobody can take him there.

Following his one-minute finish over Curtis Blaydes this past weekend, Chael Sonnen was full of praise for the Brit in a recent YouTube video.

He compared Aspinall to arguably the greatest knockout artist combat sports has ever seen and said that he is even capable of finishing fights in ways that Mike Tyson couldn’t even accomplish.

“Mike Tyson had a hard time putting down the heavyweights that were 240, 250, 260 [pounds]. These are the guys that Tom is touching one time; this is shocking power. Tom is getting guys out of here so quickly. I don’t love the reality that in three years, Tom has been in the ring for about three minutes, but the other side of it is, what are you going to do? How are you going to stop him?”

Video - Boxing star Canelo Alvarez unleashes brutal body shot on foolish fight fan

Canelo Alvarez didn’t hold back when one foolish fan asked the boxing icon to hit him.

In recent years, fight fans have wanted to know what it feels like to take a shot from some of the most well-trained athletes in the world. So anytime someone bumps into a professional boxer or a mixed martial artist, they immediately ask to be hit.

In many cases, the fighters oblige, offering up maybe 50% of their power — just enough to let the fans know what separates them.

Clearly, Canelo didn’t get the memo.

Fresh off a dominant unanimous decision victory over Jaime Munguía in Las Vegas, Canelo was attending an event when a fan approached him, asking to be hit in the body by the undisputed super middleweight world champion. In the clip, which you can see below, Canelo doesn’t hold anything back, uncorking a vicious body blow before turning around and walking away like nothing had happened.
