Tito Ortiz is widely regarded as one of the great light-heavyweights in UFC history, and he thinks he would’ve given Jon Jones some issues when both men were in their primes.

In an interview with Sports Matters’ Jerry Coughlan, Ortiz was asked for a prediction for a fight between the two legends in their primes and predicted a split-decision victory.

Ortiz’s final fight in his tenure in the UFC came just months before Jones submitted Vitor Belfort at UFC 152. Ortiz suffered a unanimous decision loss that year to Forrest Griffin at UFC 148.

“What-if” scenarios are nothing new for fight fans and pundits alike. Jones has been the center of predictions involving UFC legends Brock Lesnar, Chuck Liddell and Ortiz.

‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ went into greater detail in late 2019 in an interview with TMZ Sports.

“You stay in that angle, the outside reach of him, you’ve got problems with him,” Ortiz said. “I push myself harder than I pushed myself through my whole career. I’m doing amazing. My mind is in the right place, my body is in the right place.”

Ortiz last competed at Combate Americas 51 against Alberto El Patron, earning a submission victory in the first round by rear-naked choke. Before that, he battled to a trilogy win over Liddell in an event hosted by Golden Boy Promotions.

After Ortiz defeated Chael Sonnen at Bellator 170, Jones took aim.

“That man better enjoy his JV Victory and stay in his lane, I’d make him look like a white belt,” Jones tweeted.

With Jones starting a new journey at heavyweight and the 46-year-old Ortiz retired from full-time competition, the matchup is seemingly nothing more than a talking point now. But there’s no doubt a fight between the two legends in their primes would’ve been extremely entertaining.

How do you think a Tito Ortiz-Jon Jones fight would’ve played out with both men in their primes?

Tito Ortiz Hoping to Return in October for UFC 121

Remember that 90’s television show “Sliders”(no one would be terribly shocked if you don’t), where Jerry O’Connell and his crew used wormholes to slide between parallel universes and alternate histories? Remember that 90’s television show “Sliders”(no one would be terribly shocked if you don’t), where Jerry O’Connell and his crew used wormholes to slide between parallel universes and alternate histories? Extreme nerdiness aside, it was kind of cool, you know- what if the Soviet Union had conquered the U.S. etc? What if the Allies had lost WW II? That kind of ‘yeah I wonder’ stuff.

So where in the unholy hell are we going with this? Well, remember earlier this year when the internet was ablaze with speculation regarding the health of Tito Ortiz, and yadda, yadda, yadda, he was booted from TUF and didn’t fight Chuck Liddell? Well, what if that fight had happened in June? Would Chuck have handed Tito another ass whooping instead of being KTFO by Rich Franklin? Would Tito’s latest UFC stint already be on the ropes? Would people be talking about Chuck making another run instead of how he should retire? Alas, we’ll never know….(if you’re thinking about writing some sort of alternate MMA history script slowly move away from the keyboard now).

While Liddell still has yet to make a final decision as to whether or not he’s going to finally hang up the gloves, Ortiz has announced on his Twitter account, that it looks like his back could be ready for a return sometime this fall.

“Can I be ready by Oct 28th UFC at the Honda center? We will know in 10days!”

It’s going to be interesting to see who “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” will meet up with next. Would you be willing to bet the house it won’t be Liddell?

Rich Franklin KO’s Chuck Lidell In Exciting First Round

Near the end of the round, Chuck had Franklin against the cage and was pressing after landing some looping punches. When Chuck over committed to his attack, he walked into Franklin’s right hook. Out cold. Franklin wins in the first with little time left on the clock.

Joe Rogan mentioned it might be the last time we see Chuck in the Octagon, but I gotta say, this is the best Chuck looked in quite awhile. He looked very good in his attacks, his takedowns, I didn’t expect him to fight as well as he did. Chuck really hasn’t thrown body kicks like that since his very early days in the UFC. I’m talking about when he wore shoes!
