Belal Muhammad Fires Back at 'Junkie' Conor McGregor After UFC 310 Withdrawal Mockery 'We are not the same'

Belal Muhammad didn’t take kindly to being mocked by Conor McGregor.

Earlier this week, news broke that ‘Remember The Name’ would no longer defend his welterweight title against Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 as advertised. Muhammad later confirmed the report on social media, revealing that he had suffered a bone infection in his foot that would require six weeks of antibiotic treatment.

“Caught a bone infection in my foot .. had to put a picc line in my arm for iv antibiotics the next 6 weeks with no physical activity … Allahs plan is the best plan I’m sorry to everyone that were coming to see me Ill be back soon inshAllah,” Muhammed revealed on X.

Not long after Muhammad confirmed his withdrawal from the final pay-per-view event of the year, former two-division titleholder Conor McGregor chimed in with a pair of laughing emojis to seemingly mock Muhammad’s misfortune.

Belal Muhammad, Conor McGregor

True to form, McGregor quickly deleted the comment, but by then Muhammad had already seen it and was quick to snap back at the Irishman.

“I have this for antibiotics.. you use needles because you are junkie .. we are not the same,” Muhammad replied.

Conor McGregor takes joy in Belal muhammad’s Injury

Never one to let anyone get the last word, McGregor responded to the slight.

Belal Muhammad, Conor McGregor

“Scutter talk just like your fighting,” McGregor wrote. “You lambasted ufc world champions multiple times on having to reschedule their bouts thru injury and now it has come down on you like a bomb from the sky, it is glorious to see! No fight. No money. But staph infection hahahaja LOL! BUM! Stripped! Instantly. Zero Knockdowns/any excitement or traffic or views or ticket sales in bout, and now also non reliable to show? Strip. Cut. Infected fighter. You have infections.”

We’re not sure what’s worse — McGregor laughing at another fighter for suffering a serious infection, or the fact that the Irish megastar is picking a fight with someone over withdrawing from a matchup five months after he pulled out of his UFC 303 headliner against Michael Chandler for, of all things, a broken pinky toe.

Daniel Cormier: McGregor Had ‘Great Power’ At 145, But Not The ‘Skills’ Of Topuria

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is full of praise for featherweight kingpin Ilia Topuria following this weekend’s pay-per-view event. Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is full of praise for featherweight kingpin Ilia Topuria following this weekend’s pay-per-view event.

Topuria cemented his grip on the crown at 145 pounds on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, where he headlined UFC 308 opposite fan-favorite legend Max Holloway eight months on from his knockout of Alexander Volkanovski.

Despite being faced with a previously indestructible chin, “El Matador” vowed to put Holloway down for the first time. And against the predictions of many, the 27-year-old did just that after connecting with a vicious left hook in round three.

With the result, Topuria has added a successful defense to his reign, remained undefeated in MMA, and staked a strong claim for 2024’s Fighter of the Year accolade.

Among those running out of superlatives for the Spaniard is Cormier, who analyzed where the champ sits among the all-time featherweight greats during a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.

Plenty of comparisons have been made between Topuria and Conor McGregor in recent times, and the Irishman has even dismissed the reigning titleholder’s talents compared to his featherweight iteration.

“DC,” however, sees parts of “El Matador’s” game that go above and beyond McGregor’s.

“I don’t know if we have ever seen a guy at 145 that punches like this dude. He hits like no one I’ve ever seen before,” Cormier said. “Conor McGregor had great power at 145, but Conor McGregor I don’t think had the skills that Ilia Topuria has in terms of his pure boxing, without going and fighting a pure boxing match.

“I was talking to some of the people in the back and they told me, ‘He’s like GGG (Gennadiy Golovkin),’ and I agree. Remember GGG just used to starch dudes early in his career? Topuria’s like that. Topuria is that guy,” Cormier continued. “He has that power to knock you out and just do it in absolutely devastating fashion. You try to find the words to describe him, but it’s proving very, very difficult. I never thought that anybody would be able to knock out Max Holloway.”

While getting McGregor back to the cage to fight Michael Chandler proved too much of a challenge in recent years, talk of him doing battle with Topuria has suddenly gained strength in the aftermath of UFC 308.

Volkanovski will evidently have something to say about that, however, having been confirmed as next in line for Topuria by UFC CEO Dana White following the Abu Dhabi-held PPV.

Volkanovski Responds to Conor McGregor vs. Ilia Topuria Drama: ‘That's Not Happening’

Alexander Volkanovski is not concerned by Conor McGregor’s recent online rivalry with reigning featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.

Even before his incredible third-round KO against Max Holloway at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, Topuria and the Irishman had been trading barbs on social media and in recent interviews, setting the groundwork for a potential clash inside the Octagon someday.

Conor McGregor

Volkanovski, who was revealed to be the next man in line for Topuria following Saturday’s pay-per-view in the UAE, addressed the recent drama between McGregor and Topuria and whether or not he was concerned with the former champ-champ trying to steal his spotlight.

“Nah, I mean if he [Topuria] wanted it… But he’s [McGregor] not getting down to featherweight [and] by the time that happens that will be two years… So it ain’t gonna happen,” Volkanovski told Ariel Helwani. “I don’t know what he meant by “call me.” Whether they do that in a different division… We all know that’s not happening anytime soon anywhere.”

Topuria captured the title last February via a second-round knockout of Volkavnovski at UFC 298 in Anaheim. Since then, ‘The Great’ has taken some much-needed time away from the Octagon but looks primed to return in 2025 and run it back with ‘El Matador’ in hopes of reclaiming the crown he carried for more than four years.

Conor McGregor’s ‘Call me’ post has everyone scratching their heads

Immediately after Ilia Topuria became the first fighter to ever knock out Max Holloway in MMA, McGregor curiously posted a message on social media stating, “Call me.”

Initially, everyone believed that it was the Irish megastar once again feigning interest in a fight with Topuria.

However, McGregor may have been targeting Holloway for a potential BMF title tilt. Blessed’ is still the holder of the bragging rights belt even after his brutal loss at UFC 308 over the weekend. Given their built-in history, McGregor vs. Holloway could be a perfect return match for McGregor now that Michael Chandler has opted to move on.

It’s not uncommon for Conor McGregor to be extremely active on social media during a big UFC card and though he was seemingly present during UFC 308, he wasn’t quite as prominent throughout the night.

Following this past weekend’s action in Abu Dhabi, one post actively targeted him by referencing the injury that Robert Whittaker suffered in his loss to Khamzat Chimaev in the co-main event of the evening.

The post reflected on how McGregor has already achieved so much and gotten out of the sport without taking too much damage so he doesn’t need to risk returning when he’s already achieved success both inside and outside of the Octagon.

This part-tribute and part-caution to “The Notorious” did catch his eye which isn’t surprising given the graphic nature of Whittaker’s injury. McGregor responded to the post and though it’s unclear whether he’s serious or not, he once again flirted with the idea of riding off into the sunset and hanging the gloves up for good.

It’s certainly not the first or last time that the Irishman has told fans that he’s ready to call it a day but with his long awaited UFC return still up in the air, who knows whether we will ever see him back in action.

“Ya know what, you’re right, good bye.”

Fans reacted to the post with somewhat mixed emotions underneath McGregor’s reply.

“we said goodbye years ago bro”

“‘I’m willing to wait for that fight’ – probably Michael Chandler”

“Bro acting like we didn’t say bye after the Khabib fight. Nothing wrong with being done. You did more for the UFC than any fighter and became one of the best there ever was, while sorting generations of Mcgregors for years. You won life. move on and enjoy what you worked for.”

“blud saw topuria knock out holloway and retired”

“I guess we won’t see Chandler at the top. Bro wasted 3 years of his life for this bro.”

“Please be a joke”

“No one expected you back anyway”

“We need the comeback”

“be back in two weeks Like Ozzy tours”

“Delete this”

The English-born Paddy Pimblett is looking to have a showdown against MMA megastar Conor McGregor. Paddy ‘The Baddy’ is a currently top fifteen ranked lightweight while ‘The Notorious’ is a former two-division UFC champion but has been inactive for the past few years.

Paddy Pimblett vs. Conor McGregor

‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is one of the most popular figures in UFC history. With stunning knockouts, he captured the featherweight and lightweight titles then had a blockbuster boxing match against all-time great Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018, Ireland’s Conor McGregor has put together a 1-2 record in MMA overall. His most recent matches were back-to-back TKO losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021. ‘The Notorious’ has kept busy with acting, BKFC, court cases, and other distractions.

Liverpool’s Paddy Pimblett was a champion in Cage Warriors before transitioning to the UFC. He has become a popular figure largely due to his demeanor. Currently, he is unbeaten in the UFC with six bouts. Most recently, he submitted King Green in the first round to earn a top 15 ranking.

In a recent interview, Paddy Pimblett believes that a matchup against Conor McGregor would be the biggest fight in history. He explained:

“It would be around the world. It would be unbelievable. It got mentioned to me like eight years ago or something when I won the Cage Warriors featherweight belt. Anyone that would say no to fighting McGregor is just an idiot because you’re never getting a payday like it.

“I’d fight McGregor tomorrow, obviously for the city it would be unbelievable. Me, the biggest star in Liverpool MMA fighting the biggest star in the world when it comes to MMA. I’d take that fight in a heartbeat, I’d love that fight. McGregor is a legend. What he’s done in the sport, it’s unprecedented, especially in the short space of time he did it in. But I back myself against anyone.

“I hope so. I hope I can convince him to go outdoors at Anfield. He needs to come to a footy match to see what the atmosphere is like because I think he thinks it takes away from the atmosphere [going outdoors] But at Anfield it doesn’t, mate, when you’ve got 60,000 scousers in there, it won’t.”
