Tyron Woodley thinks former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor is coming for him once he gets done with his next fight and is healthy enough to fight once again.

Woodley is fresh off a submission win over Darren Till in the headliner of UFC 228 to retain his welterweight title. However, he won’t be fighting former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington right away. The UFC welterweight champion revealed to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani that he would be sidelined for 8-12 weeks due to a hand injury.

Tyron Woodley Thinks Conor McGregor Is Coming For Him

It should be noted that prior to this news coming out, Woodley went on record by stating on his show that is on TMZ’s platform that he thinks McGregor is coming for him next. The reasoning behind his belief is due to historic purposes. McGregor’s UFC 229 fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title is quickly approaching as this fight goes down next month.

Woodley’s Explanation

The UFC welterweight champion believes that if McGregor can beat the UFC lightweight champion then he would try to move up to 170-pounds. This would give him the chance to win three UFC titles at three different weight classes.

He beat Jose Aldo to win the UFC featherweight title, Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title then potentially Woodley for the welterweight title.

“If Conor wins, the only fight that makes sense for him is to fight me,” Tyron said on ‘The Hollywood Beatdown’ … “[he’ll] try to get a 3rd belt.”

Conor McGregor’s Whiskey So Popular That Stores Put Purchase Limit On It

Conor McGregor is making some serious bank with his latest business venture.

Conor McGregor’s whiskey was literally selling off the shelves that it forced Tesco Ireland stores to make a big decision that impacted how people could buy it.

Conor McGregor’s Whiskey

The Proper No. Twelve drink is a top seller for Tesco Ireland stores and is flying off the shelves. For those who don’t know, the whiskey is named after McGregor’s hometown Crumlin situated in Dublin 12.

Thus, the stores were forced to put out signs that told people that they were limited to the number of bottles that can be bought at a time.

Purchase Limit

A photo of the sign in one of the stores read like this, “Due to popular demand unfortunately Proper 12 whiskey is limited to two bottles per customer per day.” This led to Tesco spokeswoman confirming with Irish Sun that this news was indeed true by issuing the following statement:

“To ensure availability for all customers we’ve introduced a limit on the number of bottles that can be sold in a single sale.”

Eire Born Spirits, which is founded by the former UFC champion, launched the whiskey in Ireland and the US earlier this week. The belief is that it will be further expanded next year. McGregor previously went on record by stating that the reason behind the name of his branded whiskey was due to his hometown.

“I come from a place called Crumlin, in Dublin 12. It’s a place dear to my heart. It’s where I learned how to fight, it made me who I am today. It’s a place I’m still very much a part of every single day of my life. So, that’s where the name came from. It’s proper Irish whiskey and twelve is my hometown.”

McGregor is slated to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title will end at the UFC 229 pay-per-view event.

Yesterday, the mixed martial arts (MMA) world was subject to one of its biggest-ever spectacles with New York City’s UFC 229 presser featuring Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

The first media event for October 6’s megafight between the current and former lightweight champions was an odd one to be certain. McGregor came out guns blazing just like he did throughout his promotional World Tour opposite Floyd Mayweather last year. The Irish star unveiled his motivation for coming back to battle ‘The Eagle’ before blaming his infamous UFC 223 bus attack on the Russian champ.

McGregor was also seen guzzling his brand-new Irish Whiskey Proper Twelve. So much so, in fact, that several onlookers among the wide reactions on social media thought he was overcompensating for perceived fear. The normally stoic Nurmagomedov had his own views of McGregor’s alcohol use, predictably choosing to stay focused on the fight. Buoyed at least in part by his own brand of the hard stuff, McGregor went off on a litany of personal topics from making death threats to ripping Khabib’s father.

Overall, it was a press event that was called the “darkest he’d ever been to” by UFC President Dana White. That’s saying a lot.

What’s In The Staredown?

So after the somber, strange UFC 229 presser, who is actually in whose head?

Fans seem to be torn down the middle on social media. They have their separate claims and justifications why McGregor or Khabib now holds the distinct mental advantage. Khabib and McGregor came face-to-face in the traditional UFC 229 presser staredown. Again Khabib was statuesque while McGregor as animated as always. Again people had polar opposite views on what that meant.

We knew McGregor would be looking to return with a bang. However, it may have seemed like he was trying too hard like he was during the final legs of his World Tour with Mayweather.

True, his whiskey will be one of the official sponsors of UFC 229. It’s a fine line to walk between focusing on promoting your new booze and fighting the man who many feel is the most dominant force in MMA right now. There’s the school of thought that McGregor is focused after staying out of the media until now.

We also knew Khabib would be as stoic as a rock. Trash talk has never been his forte or focus. He simply stared right through McGregor during the staredown. He’s done that with all of his previous opponents. Each opponent went down in a similar fashion, regardless of his perceived deficiencies in the cage. “The Eagle” appeared a bit miffed at McGregor’s comments at times; it’s true.

That could just serve to galvanize his resolve, however. That, of course, is the last thing McGregor needs. Overall, it just looked like McGregor was trying too hard as he was during the Brooklyn leg of his Mayweather tour.

If that comes back to bite him when they finally throw down, we’ll have to wait and see. Who – if anyone – is in whose head after the UFC 229 presser?

Dana White Calls Khabib vs. Conor Presser ‘Darkest Of All-Time’

Things got outlandish between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov in their UFC 229 press conference.

The post Dana White Calls Khabib vs. Conor Presser ‘Darkest Of All-Time’ appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Yesterday (Thurs. September 20, 2018) Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov came face-to-face at the initial UFC 229 press conference.

The pair will be competing in the main event of the awaited pay-per-view (PPV) on October 6th from Las Vegas, Nevada. “The Eagle” is defending his lightweight title against the returning Irishman, who hasn’t fought inside the Octagon in nearly two years.

Things got heated between the rivals during their press conference. McGregor threatened Nurmagomedov’s life several times and made some outlandish statements. “Mystic Mac” was simultaneously drinking whiskey and boasting about his new business venture.

UFC President Dana White said it was the darkest press conference he has ever been a part of (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“It was dark, man,” White said. “It was the darkest press conference I’ve ever been a part of. But Conor McGregor is the master of mental warfare. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: He’s better than anybody.

“Even (Muhammad) Ali. You don’t want to say anybody’s better than Ali, but I think when it comes to the mental war game in this sport, or any other sport, Conor McGregor is the best ever.”

The Best Ever?

McGregor came prepared, to say the least, against Nurmagomedov. He brought up some issues with the Russian that go far beyond fighting. White credited “The Notorious” for doing his research into his opponents, as it’s not the first time he has done such a thing:

“Here’s the thing about McGregor, too: He’s so good at it – he studies,” White said. “He studies every little thing, he talks to people, he finds out stories inside of a guy’s camp.

“Look at the whole thing he did on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ with Urijah Faber, with T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt and all those guys. At one point he had Cody Garbrandt jumping up trying to fight him.

“He is the master. He is the best ever to do it. Nobody does it better than Conor does.”

Initially, Nurmagomedov didn’t seem to be falling for McGregor’s mind games. He sat idly by and let the Irishman play out his schtick. As things progressed, however, Nurmagomedov seemingly got more emotionally invested:

“You’re not human if that doesn’t affect you,” White said. “It’s not possible for that not to affect you. Conor knows that. Conor came in, and Conor did what Conor does.

“That’s why I say it: He’s the best ever. There’s never been anybody better at the mental warfare game than Conor McGregor. He’s the absolute best of all-time.”
