Two-time PFL champion Kayla Harrison thinks Cris “Cyborg” Justino is the greatest women’s featherweight, and not her teammate Amanda Nunes.

Harrison has been linked to potential future matchups against both Justino and Nunes, most recently appearing at a Bellator event to watch Justino knock out Sinead Kavanagh. She’s teammates with Nunes down at the famous American Top Team gym in south Florida.

Harrison is a free agent and was recently asked to give her thoughts on Bellator and claimed that Justino is the greatest women’s featherweight of all time.

“I’ve heard nothing but good things (about Bellator).” Harrison said in a recent interview on the ‘Weighing In‘ podcast. “I don’t think I’ve heard a fighter go to Bellator from another promotion and complain. That’s across the board from Austin (Vanderford) to Johnny (Eblen), to Kyoji (Horiguchi). Everybody seems happy there.”

“They also happen to have one of the greatest female featherweights,” Harrison continued. “I think [Justino’s] the greatest featherweight of all time. One of the greatest fighters of all time.”

Kayla Harrison Is Currently A Free Agent

It’s unclear what could be next for Harrison in her MMA career. After winning the PFL lightweight championship over Taylor Guardado earlier this year, she’s on the free-agent market for the first time. Harrison has expressed interest in signing with the UFC, Bellator, and even re-signing with the PFL.

Fans have long clamored for a potential matchup between Nunes and Harrison. UFC featherweight contender Felicia Spencer also went out of her way to say that Harrison is “definitely a threat” in the featherweight division if she chooses to sign with the promotion.

Nunes is slated to face Julianna Peña at UFC 269 next weekend and could have virtually cleaned out both the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. She could potentially be on a collision course with her teammate Harrison if the UFC comes to terms with the reigning PFL champ.

Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg made her latest title defense against Irish contender Sinead Kavanagh in the main event of Bellator 271. Let’s see how it all played out.

The fight opens up with the two combatants meeting in the center of the cage. It doesn’t take long for Cyborg and Kavanagh to push the pace as both throw blistering fast combinations on the feet. Cyborg goes for the takedown and is stuffed by Kavanagh. Cyborg is landing some heavy knees in the clinch and is finding a home for the right hook.

After forcing Kavanagh to the fence, Cyborg lands a heavy 1-2 combination that puts Kavanagh out instantly. Referee Jason Herzog intervenes and Cyborg leaves south Florida with another win in the Bellator cage.

Cris Cyborg Knocked Out Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 271

Check out the incredible knockout below.

With the finish over Kavanagh, Cyborg continues her reign as the Bellator featherweight champ and is arguably the most dominant fighter in the promotion. Despite being 36 years old, she looked like the best she’s ever been to this point in her illustrious career.

Before her latest title defense against Kavanagh, Cyborg earned the Bellator title by defeating Julia Budd in her first fight in the promotion. She signed with Bellator after a rocky tenure in the UFC which included strained relations with UFC president Dana White.

After losing her featherweight title in the UFC and earning a win over Felicia Spencer, Cyborg opted to sign with Bellator for a new chapter in her career. Entering Bellator 271, Cyborg defended her belt in dominant performances against Leslie Smith and Arlene Blencowe.

Cyborg has largely cleaned out the featherweight division just as fast as she rose to the Bellator throne. Now, she’ll wait for a contender to rise, which could include the possible signing of PFL champion Kayla Harrison.

Fight fans and fighters had a lot to say about the impressive win that Cris Cyborg put on when she beat Felicia Spencer.

As seen in the fight, which served as the co-headliner of the UFC 240 pay-per-view event, Cyborg managed to get the unanimous decision win but it was not looking good for her early in the fight.

This fight took place on Saturday night (July 27, 2019) from the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In the early going, Spencer busted open Cyborg on her forehead with an elbow strike and continued to work her over with the clinch. Spencer looked good early and teased that she had a chance to upset the former UFC featherweight champion but Cyborg pulled away in round two and three.

Cris Cyborg is finally a UFC champion.

This past weekend (Sat. July 29, 2017) the Brazilian knockout artist added yet another finish to her record when she stopped Invicta FC bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger in the third round of their UFC featherweight title fight at the UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV). After landing a slew of hard shots throughout the first and second round, Cyborg was finally able to finish Evinger off in just under two minutes.

Cyborg is considered one of the greatest female mixed martial arts (MMA) practitioners of all time, alongside former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. “The Rowdy One’s” reign over the 135-pound division came to an end in 2015 when she was knocked out by Holly Holm in the second round of their title meeting. She attempted to return last December against current champion Amanda Nunes, but was made quick work of after being put away in just 48 seconds.

Prior to her loss, Rousey had amassed a 12 fight undefeated streak since the beginning of her MMA career, winning each fight via stoppage and only making it out of the first round once. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz recently joined Submission Radio following his longtime friend Cris Cyborg’s UFC title win, and claimed that the Brazilian is a far better champion than Rousey who was ‘hand-fed opponents’ (quotes via MMA Mania):

“Ronda was a flash in the pan. And nothing against her, she was a great champ at the time, but when you’re getting hand-fed opponents, it is what it is. But Cris is not a person to submit people and give them an opportunity to do it again, she’s a person to knock people out. As you heard tonight at the press conference, people comparing her to a Mike Tyson.

“But now she’s a confident person, is keeping her hips low and yeah, she swings like Mike Tyson. All of her sparring partners, they’re all men. We don’t have any women sparring partners with her, and when they do it’s just a confidence booster for her, and I’ve got to thank all of them for coming in and working with her. Cris is finally the UFC world champ.”
