Last night (Feb. 18, 2018) welterweight contender Curtis Millender made his UFC debut on the main card of UFC Fight Night 126, which took place at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, and it was a successful one to say the least, as Millender scored an impressive second-round stoppage victory over longtime veteran Thiago Alves.

Following the big win, Millender has an idea of who he’d like to fight next:

“I would like to beat up Mickey Gall,” Millender told MMAjunkie. “I’m a huge WWE fan, big CM Punk fan, so I’d love to beat up Mickey Gall for that.”

Punk, a former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar, made his mixed martial arts debut at UFC 203 in September 2016, but it didn’t go his way, as he was famously dominated and stopped by Gall just minutes into the first round.

Since then, Gall has gone 1-1, finishing Sage Northcutt in December 2016 and then dropping a decision loss to Randy Brown at UFC 217 last November in New York City.

In regards to Millender, it certainly appears as if he has a bright future ahead of him, and although he may have been a relative unknown prior to last night, he claims as if he saw all of this coming:

“I knew this was coming,” Millender said. “I worked really hard. I have a canteen of water that I drink every day, and every fight I write my goals on it. And it says that I’m going to knock him out in the second round. I’m going to tweet it when I get home and see that the marker is fading. I work hard, and when I say I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it.”

And while he has his sights set on Gall, Millender’s goals are sky high and he said that ‘anybody can get it next’:

“Easy breezy; I want to fight everybody,” Millender said. “I want to be the best in the world, and to do that, I’ve got to be up there. I’ve got my welterweight hit list. Thiago’s first; anybody can get it next.”

Where would you like to see the 30-year-old go from here?

UFC Fight Night 126 emanated tonight (Sunday, February 18, 2018) from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. The main event saw perennial contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone attempt to right the ship against all-action fighter Yancy Medeiros. He did so in dramatic and devastating fashion, winning by last-second TKO in the first frame. But it wasn’t enough to earn him a post-fight bonus.

Co-main event winner Derrick Lewis was one Performance of the Night recipient. His opponent Marcin Tybura did not make it easy on him. Tybura scored with repeated takedowns and advanced to dominant positions on several occasions. A visibly fatigued Lewis struggled to shake him off, but Tybura failed to mount the offense he needed for the finish. When Lewis was able to extricate himself from Tybura in round three, he did not miss his opportunity. Clubbing hooks sent Tybura to the canvas at the base of the cage, and “The Black Beast” closed the show with follow-up ground-and-pound. He’ll go home an extra $50,000 for his efforts.

The other Performance of the Night went to Curtis Millender for his impressive UFC debut against veteran welterweight Thiago Alves. Millender dropped and badly rocked Alves in the first round, even prematurely celebrating what he thought was a clean knockout. Alves survived and began taking the fight to the long, powerful debutante, looking like he was on his way to winning the second frame. But a knee strike from Millender put Alves down, and after a long look, referee Jacob Montalvo waved it off. Millender had a lucrative first outing, banking an extra $50,000 with the highlight-reel victory.

The Fight of the Night went to main card sluggers Brandon Davis and Steven Peterson. The two featherweights engaged in an entertaining brawl for all three rounds. “Ocho” Peterson was the aggressor for the duration, pushing forward and throwing hands. But Davis’ superior head movement, footwork, and countering ability helped him outland the UFC newcomer. Davis badly rocked Peterson toward the end of the fight, but the ultra-rugged Texan survived, recovered, and threw back until the final bell. The two Contender Series vets each banked an extra $50,000 for their spirited performance.

Curtis Millender is probably best remembered for his Bellator bout against Brennan Ward back in 2014. While Millender ended up losing that fight, he appears to be back on track after scoring a massive head kick knockout at LFA 30, his second head kick KO in a row.

Millender starched Nick Barnes on Friday night in a bizarre exchange. Barnes landed a leg kick, sweeping Millender off balance, but he threw up a head kick to put Barnes out cold.

See the knockout for yourself:

Millender won his last fight by headkick KO as well, finishing Matthew Frincu in 38 seconds of the first round in October. Barnes and Millender threw down during the main event Legacy Fighting Alliance 30.

Millender is now riding a six-fight win streak, with an overall record of 14-3.

Mismatch Alert: Welterweight Phenom Michael Page to Beat Up “Curtious” Curtis Millender at Bellator 133

(Props: UCMMA)

English welterweight Michael “Venom” Page (7-0) has become one of the most consistently thrilling MMA fighters in the world. This is the dude who won his pro MMA debut via tornado kick, in the world’s first-ever “just gonna stand here for a while” knockout (see above). He won his Bellator debut in just 10 seconds. In his second Bellator fight, he did this to Ricky Rainey. His decision win last month over Strikeforce/UFC veteran Nah-Shon Burrell marked the first time that one of Page’s fights made it out of the first round.

Michael Page is a friggin’ monster, and he’s earned a step up in competition. And so, he’s just been booked to compete at Bellator 133: The British Invasion (February 27th; Uncasville, CT) against fast-rising up-and-comer…uh…wait a minute, who the hell is “Curtious” Curtis Millender?

No, we’ve never heard of the guy either, and his nickname deserves its own post. (“My 3rd-grade teacher gave me that name, and it just stuck” — made-up quote from Curtis Millender.) Apparently, he’s a 7-0 fighter from San Berdoo, with all of his fights taking place in the OC Fight Club promotion. He’s a coach at the UFC Gym in Fullerton, and comes from a wrestling background. He only has two stoppage wins to his name, including a 48-second doctor’s stoppage TKO of TUF 16 castmember James Chaney last month.

Okay, maybe it’s not fair to write this dude off as dead meat before we’ve even seen him. Watch the promo video below, and you’ll see Millender throw some flashy attacks that we might describe as “Page-esque in their execution, Joe.” Plus, at the 0:36 mark, he makes his opponent do the stankiest stanky-leg we have ever seen in sanctioned competition. So that’s pretty cool.

(#BeCurtious is never going to happen.)

In short, Michael Page is being brought along verrrrrry slowwwwwly by Bellator. And I guess that makes sense from a promotional standpoint. If fans are tuning in to watch this guy tornado-kick people to death, you might as well give them what they want.
