Ryan Hall has suffered another setback.
The featherweight contender was set to battle Dan Ige in the UFC’s upcoming March 13 event. However, that will no longer be the case following an injury in training that has ruled him out of the contest following multiple reports.
As per Hall, the injury was a torn hip flexor during his training camp and despite his best efforts to compete through the injury, he ultimately had to drop out. He is now looking to compete in May or June.
It’s a big blow for Hall who hasn’t competed since 2019. Part of that is because of injury issues but another major factor was his struggle to land a ranked opponent as he had repeatedly claimed that the rest of the top 15 were avoiding him.
Ige was the one to step up but in the end, Hall will have to wait even longer before he can compete. His last outing was a unanimous decision victory over Darren Elkins back in July 2019.
As for Ige, he will require a new opponent though it isn’t known if he will remain on the card.
The Hawaiian is coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Calvin Kattar in July and will be looking to return to the win column. Prior to that, Ige was on a six-fight winning streak.

As originally reported by BJPenn.com, Ryan Hall’s opponent for his return bout will be #11-ranked featherweight Dan Ige. With Hall ranked #13, the winner of this bout will, in all likelihood, crack into the top 10. Of the seven […]

Hall hasn’t competed since his unanimous decision win over Darren Elkins back in July 2019. He was set to face Ricardo Lamas next only to pull out due to injury. He has since had trouble landing a ranked opponent as he would label himself the most ducked fighter in the UFC.
Most recently, Hall had been calling out The Korean Zombie and was frustrated with the former title challenger not responding to him. However, he previously called out Ige as well.
“Dan Ige is a warrior who always puts on a great show, has clearly demonstrated a willingness to test himself against the best, and we’re next door in the featherweight rankings. What do you think, @dynamitedan808? Fight Island in January?”
It appears Ige is game.
Ige last competed in July when he was outpointed by Calvin Kattar. It was his first loss since January 2018 and he will be looking to return to the win column soon.
Currently ranked No. 11, it is also a big chance for Hall — ranked No. 13 — to further move up the ranks. All in all, it promises to be a great fight and the biggest test of Hall’s career.

Kattar took on Dan Ige in the event’s headliner in what was a back-and-forth encounter early on.
However, “The Boston Finisher” soon started taking over and although he couldn’t get the desired finish over a durable Ige, he did do enough to get a clear-cut unanimous decision victory.
That puts him at four wins in his last five as he is now seemingly among the contenders for a potential featherweight title shot.
