With every passing week, it looks like the goal posts are being adjusted for when fans can expect to see Conor McGregor return to the Octagon.

He made the decision to withdraw from his planned comeback fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June to a broken toe that he wished to recover from.

Unfortunately, rescheduling a fight like that isn’t as easy as seeing when both men are ready to go, and that appears to have caused some complications.

McGregor appears to be targeting December which is yet to have any fights announced but Dana White’s recent comments clarified where the UFC is at with this right now.

During his post-fight press conference following the return of the Contender Series, he gave this update on his communications with “The Notorious”.

“We talked yeah, we didn’t meet up but we talked and yeah, he wants to fight so we’ll figure it out.”

When asked how soon that may be, White clarified that McGregor will not be fighting in 2024.

“Not this year, he won’t fight this year.”

McGregor responded to these comments via social media with his own post that once again pushed for the fight to take place in December, stating that he has already planned out his preparations for this time frame.

MMA Fans React To Conor McGregor’s 2024 Return Being Ruled Out

This update was obviously disappointing for a lot of fans on social media who appear to be coming to the realization that we might never see McGregor step back inside the Octagon after this long and drawn out process.

It wasn’t ideal to have him withdraw from UFC 303 but the Irishman seemed to be committed to taking some time to heal, before diving right back into his training, postponing the fight rather than cancelling it altogether.

Even Chandler, who has been put through the ringer in the past few months, seems to be ready to move on at this stage.

Fans gave their take on the latest McGregor update from the UFC boss via social media.

“How does he go from a toe injury to not fighting this year… Ridiculous”

“It’s over, he’s never fighting again.”

“Idk why y’all still allowing yourselves to be strung along. McGregor and Dana are playing games. If Conor was serious this would’ve already happened. If he’s not done yet, he’s definitely close to the end. Don’t know what he’s trying to prove but this is getting sad.”

“Unreal. This has become comical at this point. I’d love to know what the excuse is this time.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if this is just a bet between Dana and Conor to see how long Mikey will wait.”

The Problem Child’ Jake Paul has some choice words for Conor McGregor and UFC president Dana White. It has come to light that it is doubtful that the UFC star will compete in 2024.

‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is the biggest name in the history of the UFC. The Irish athlete changed the landscape of MMA when he became a two-division champion winning the featherweight and lightweight titles both by stunning knockout. Later, he had blockbuster fights against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

However, McGregor has been inactive in combat sports since 2021. Notorious’ was looking to make a comeback but met a knockout loss and leg break both against Dustin Poirier. Since then he has been recovering from his injury and showing quite a lifestyle on social media, depicting a lot of partying and not much training. Michael Chandler coached TUF opposite to McGregor, has given up waiting for the Irish striker to be ready for a match.

Recently, UFC President Dana White said that he doubts McGregor will fight in 2024. To this, the Irish athlete yelled on X for a December match. In a now-deleted Tweet, he said:

“Ah, Dana, December is the date! Bring the calendar year home with a winning event! Come on now, what is this? I am off to altitude next month to prepare. DECEMBER! Tell Dana and the UFC WE WANT DECEMBER! WE DESERVE DECEMBER!”

Former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor will not make his return to fighting by the end of this year at least, according to CEO, Dana White – amid continued links to a December comeback in the main event of UFC 310 against Michael Chandler.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion, has been out of action for the last three years, amid a fractured left tibia and fibula suffered against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in 2021.

However, officially booked to headline UFC 303 at the end of June during International Fight Week, McGregor was slated to take on the above-mentioned former Bellator MMA gold holder, Chandler over the course of five rounds at the welterweight limit.

Forced to withdraw from the main event return after suffering a fractured toe on the same foot as his prior gruesome leg injury, McGregor remained steadfast in his ambitions to fight before the end of the annum at UFC 310 in December – on the promotion’s final pay-per-view card of the year.

However, McGregor’s pursuit of a comeback at UFC 310 at the end of the annum has been shut down by the above-mentioned promotional leader, White, who confirmed he would not book the Dubliner to compete this year.

“We talked, we talked,” Dana White said of Conor McGregor following the Contender Series overnight. “We didn’t meet up but we talked, and yeah, he wants to fight. So, we’ll figure it out. Not this year. He won’t fight this year.”

Replying to White’s comments on social media in a now-deleted tirade, McGregor urged the fans to pressure the boss to book him at UFC 310.

“Ah Dana, December is the date!” Conor McGregor posted on his official X account. “Bring the calendar year home with a winning event! Come on now, what’s this? I am off to altitude next month to prepare. DECEMBER! Tell Dana and UFC WE WANT DECEMBER! WE DESERVE DECEMBER!”
