UFC Suggesting Fighters and Coaches Purchase Fight Pass Instead of Sending Them Fight Tapes.

Cheap Shot

We all know UFC is on the hunt for economy. After the UEM-ING’s 4 billion dollar purchase of the promotion from the Fertita brothers things have been a bit tight to say the least. We’ve seen a myriad of “big money” fights and interim titles to garner interest in the casual fan. However there are some amenities a professional sports organization must provide, and tape of their rival individual/ team is one of them.

In a recent twitter post Brandon Gibson (coach at JacksonWinkMMA) let the social media community know that the UFC will no longer be providing coaches and fighters with fight tape and want fight team to purchase UFC fight pass instead.

While we all love UFC fight pass, professionals who are in the sport need tape to properly prepare their fighters. Tape provides things like slow motion, the ease of rewind, and other tools fight camps need to adequately study the competition. Now coaches will either have to DVR and edit or hire someone to do it for them.

The UFC use to provide zip drive links to download which lead Brandon Gibson and the Jackson Wink fight team to 3 of the top 10 knockouts of 2016, so we’d like to think they know what they’re talking about.

The question you have to ask yourself is do the ends justify the means? Do a couple of thousand dollars justify making it harder for coaches to prepare their fighters for quality fights? You would think as a business the UFC would want to put out the highest quality product for the least amount of give. The most return for your invest. If you’re viewing it from that sense then this latest move is a real head scratcher. Is the promotion really bleeding that bad?

Hit us up in the comments section below on your views of the latest UFC changes. Should the fighters and coaches just get over it or is this just a little ridiculous.

Talks of a potential super fight between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, which have been ongoing for nearly a year now, reached new heights today when a report surfaced indicating that the two stars had reach a verbal agreement for a bout.

UFC President Dana White and Mayweather then responded to this report, however, making it seem as if the news wasn’t true.

The day was certainly filled with many rumors and a plethora of speculation and to end it off, McGregor, who happens to be in Las Vegas, took yet another shot at Mayweather on social media:

I am in Las Vegas. Floyd has retired on my arrival.

A post shared by Conor McGregor Official (@thenotoriousmma) on

McGregor hasn’t competed since brutally knocking out Eddie Alvarez to become the 155-pound champion at this past November’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Mayweather, on the other hand, has been in a retirement since scoring a unanimous decision victory over Andre Berto in Sept. 2015. Prior to that, he had outpointed Manny Pacquiao in May 2015 in a fight that turned out to be one of the biggest in boxing history from a financial standpoint.

Do you expect Mayweather and McGregor to ever actually lock horns, or will the rumors continue to be nothing more than just that: rumors?

UFC President Dana White shot down the reports of a mega fight between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor happening on Tuesday in a brief statement to TMZ.

He noted there’s currently no deal in place:

Later, Mayweather took to Twitter to “set the record straight” after the reports started to surface online. For those who have may missed the news, the story by “The Sun,” which cited a source close to McGregor, noted that both fighters agreed to terms for a mega fight but that it hasn’t been formally signed because of a “hold up” from an unnamed 3rd party:

Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) executive director Bob Bennett told USA TODAY Sports that he doesn’t “anticipate any issues” with the commission sanctioning the bout.

Although White and Mayweather shot down the latest report, McGregor continues to be adamant that his next fight will be a boxing match against Mayweather.

Time will tell if the fight actually happens.

Joe Rogan Admits Huge Mistake In Praising Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey was once considered to be the very best 135-pound female fighter on the planet. Rousey was so dominant that at the height of her UFC title run, UFC commentator Joe Rogan said that she was capable of beating some of the male bantamweight fighters competing inside the Octagon.

Over the last year, however, Rousey has suffered a brutal fall from grace. She was shockingly knocked out by Holly Holm at Nov. 2015’s UFC 193, which led to her sitting out the majority of 2016. She then returned at Dec. 30, 2016’s UFC 207 only to be stopped by champion Amanda Nunes in 47 seconds.

Because of her recent losing skid, Rogan said on his podcast that he was wrong to make the comments he did:

“I’m not happy that Ronda Rousey lost but in a way, it makes things easier because there was a bunch of f**kin’ people going, ‘Oh yeah, what about Ronda Rousey?” And I made the mistake saying – hyperbole. I’m the master of hyperbole, I exaggerate all the time – I was like, ‘She could probably beat half the men bantamweights in the UFC.’

“That’s definitely not true. I shouldn’t have said it at the time, now it’s definitely not true. She could beat a few that aren’t good outside the sport. Look, if she gets guys on the ground she could f**k a lot of people up. Her Judo is 100 percent legit, her armbars are amongst the best in the business but people were always saying that… Thank god now that she’s lost everyone’s relaxed with that.”

Rousey’s fighting future is currently unclear, although UFC President Dana White recently said that there’s a good chance we may have seen the last of the “Rowdy” one inside the Octagon.

Do you expect to see the ex-champion fight again?

Report: Conor McGregor & Floyd Mayweather Reach Bout Agreement For Boxing Superfight

After almost an entire year of hype, ‘The Notorious’ vs. ‘Money’ could actually be extremely close to happening.

A report surfaced from UK news outlet The Sun revealing that McGregor and his associates have agreed upon the terms of the deal and now all that remains is to officially sign the contract with a third-party issue (being the UFC) the last hold-up to making the long-proposed super fight happen.

The dollar amount has apparently been set and agreed upon:

“Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have agreed a deal to fight and have both settled on their respective fees.

“The contract hasn’t officially been signed yet because of a third party hold-up but all the details have all been agreed on.

“The fight could even be announced within two weeks.”

Adding fuel to what is certainly to become a fire, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto also reported Mayweather had informed his network colleague Stephen A. Smith that the fight was “very, very close” to being signed. Okamoto also confirmed with there were real discussions ongoing with the NSAC:

The two sides have gone back-and-forth in the media over the past couple months, with Mayweather initially offering McGregor a paltry $15 million before Dana White offered them both $25 million plus pay-per-view (PPV) points to throw down in what could most certainly be the biggest combat sports bout of all-time.

McGregor recently made headlines by canceling an event in his hometown of Dublin, instead flying to Las Vegas to clear up his business with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for his now-infamous UFC 202 bottle-throwing incident with arch rival Nate Diaz and his ‘Skrap Pack.’

He’ll film an anti-bullying video as part of his consequences, and while in Vegas, his team will reportedly continue working towards getting the super fight with Mayweather worked out. Will this onetime far-off possibility become reality in Las Vegas soon?
