Many fans have continued to question when we will see the Octagon return of former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and emerging mainstream celebrity “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey.

During his appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” this week, UFC President Dana White spoke about Rousey’s UFC return status.

“I would really like her to fight this year,” White said. “I hope she does. That’s up to Ronda, Ronda is coming to come out and let us know when she’s going to fight again. That’s up to her.”

White continued, “If you look at, from when I decided to bring fighters into the UFC, no fighter has worked harder than Ronda Rousey over the last three years, other than probably Conor McGregor. So, she deserves the time off.”

Rousey last competed at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia on November 14, 2015, where she lost the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship in her first and only professional MMA defeat to Holly Holm via second round knockout.

By now, everyone has heard the rumors regarding a potential boxing match between UFC Featherweight Champion “The Notorious” Conor McGregor and former boxing pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Unfortunately, UFC President Dana White doesn’t see things quite the same as the fighters themselves.

“Conor McGregor is under contract with the UFC,” White said Wednesday during his appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show.” “Listen, if Floyd wants to fight Conor, call me Floyd.”

Last night (Tues., May 10, 2016), the somewhat shocking news arose that the UFC was apparently in ‘advanced talks’ for a potential sale to a group of four possible buyers in a report from ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

UFC President Dana White quickly denied the report and blasted Rovell to The Las Vegas Review-Journal, but Rovell noted that a company that is not up for sale most likely would not enlist the help of financial giant Goldman-Sachs.

White then appeared on ESPN’s The Dan Patrick Show this morning to address the report, affirming that while the UFC is not up for sale as of now, they are always fielding offers, and if they were to indeed sale the promotion, that would probably be when he stepped down.

It’s a lot to digest, and foreseeing what the UFC would become under new ownership without White is a tough proposition as of now. With that said, many have been griping about how the UFC has been doing business in recent years, mainly in the areas of fighter pay and the Reebok sponsorship deal.

What do you think? Would a UFC sale to new ownership be good or bad for the sport of MMA?

Many have been wondering about the communication status between Conor McGregor and Dana White following the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion’s recent fallout with UFC management regarding the upcoming landmark UFC 200 event.

This week, UFC President Dana White appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show,” as seen above, to clear up the situation.

“Conor and I have been talking every day,” White said on Wednesday. “We’re gonna have dinner next week. Our relationship is great. We’re gonna put the little speed bump in the road behind us and move forward. Everything is great.”

White continued, “McGregor is ready to fight on 200. The thing that has made Conor McGregor a massive star and why people love him is this kid loves to fight. He’ll fight anybody, anywhere, any time. He goes in and goes for broke. His fights are exciting and fun, leading up to them, during them and after them. McGregor is ready to fight.”

White would go on to clarify that nothing is official regarding the rumors of a McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rematch at UFC 202.

UFC President Dana White appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday to promote Saturday’s UFC 198. However, UFC 198 was the least talked about topic during his appearance.

ESPN recently published a story stating that the Zuffa is once again considering selling the largest MMA promotion in the world. Currently, there are four bidders looking to buy the promotion. Dalian Wanda Group, WME/IMG, China Media Capital, and The Blackstone Group. Zuffa is asking between $3.5 and $4 billion for the UFC.

White denied the report, dubbing it “overblown” last night, and he reiterated that the promotion was not up for sale to Patrick today:

“We’re not up for sale,” White said. “We’re always working on deals and expansion globally. If someone shows up with $4 billion, we can definitely talk. The day we decide to sell I probably don’t want to do this anymore.”

White was then asked about his relationship with current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and the rumor that McGregor will fight at UFC 202 in August.

“Conor and I have been talking every day. We’re going to have dinner next week. No Conor deal is done for UFC 202.”

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has not fought since losing to Holly Holm at UFC 193. White stated that he hoped she will fight later this year.

“I would really like her to fight this year. I hope she does… She deserves this time off.”

Expect to see White make more media rounds this week to promote UFC 198.

Dana White Comments on Relationship with Conor McGregor

UFC President Dana White stated Wednesday that he’s worked to repair his relationship with Conor McGregor after a period of verbal warfare that led to a brief retirement for one of the promotion’s biggest draws, who now won’t appear on the UFC 200 card.

MMA Junkie passed along comments White made about the situation during an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show. He even pointed out they are planning to meet in the near future.

“Conor and I have been talking every day,” White said. “We’re going to have dinner next week. Our relationship is great, and we’re going to put the little speed bump in the road that happened there behind us and move forward. So everything is great.”

He added: “He will not be on (UFC) 200. We’re going to get together next week and see what card he’s going to be on. We’re going to get together next week and see what’s next.”

The ordeal began last month when McGregor posted a cryptic tweet about potentially walking away from the sport for good, which set the sports world abuzz:

White later explained they had a disagreement about the Irishman making his way to Las Vegas to help promote UFC 200, per Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com. He noted the disagreement left him with little choice but to remove the popular fighter from the card:

I didn’t prevent Conor from fighting at UFC 200. Everybody, if you look at [last week’s] news conference—Joanna Jedrzejczyk came in from Poland. Claudia Gadelha came in from Brazil. This is what we do. This is how it works.

I didn’t prevent him from fighting at UFC 200. He knew what the deal was. I told him what the deal was. He opted to do that.

Meanwhile, while the UFC president is focused on getting back on the same page with McGregor, rumors have popped up about a possible boxing match between The Notorious and undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who called the fight “possible,” according to Luis Sandoval of Fight Hype.

A hyped rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship will now headline UFC 200. That said, the company needs to get McGregor back in the mix, as evidenced by his impressive gate totals for recent events.

Nate Diaz, his expected opponent at the milestone event, handed him his first loss in six years in March. So another battle between them figures to remain on the docket, but it’s unclear when or where that’s going to happen.

White’s comments make it sound like any lingering issues between the pair are beginning to fade away. It will be interesting to see if that’s still the case after they meet next week with the unexpected Mayweather talk receiving so much attention.
