The founder and president of BKFC, David Feldman, has revealed today that he’s sold the majority stake of his bare-knuckle fighting promotion to the popular sports brand Triller.

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship made its start in 2018 and was treated with laughs and jeers at the thought that Feldman was bringing back such an ancient concept. However, clever marketing and key free-agent signings have done nothing but grow the brand, despite the doubters.

David Feldman Talks BKFC Triller Deal

Appearing on The MMA Hour, Feldman discussed his venture, his hard work growing the brand, and just what this Triller deal means for everyone involved in BKFC.

“Triller will acquire the majority stake in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship to allow more opportunities, more resources, more funding, just everything that we really need to vie for that No. 1, No. 2 spot in combat sports,” Feldman said (transcribed by MMA Fighting).

“We grew this thing to a point where we thought that we got it as far as we could take it by ourselves right now… We needed to make a partnership that was going to take us to the next level, create more opportunities, more resources, more funding, more things like that to acquire some more fighters, take care of the fighters that are already there, and just create more opportunities for everybody… Nothing is really going to change in the operations of BKFC, we’re just going to have more assets, more resources, and more possibilities.”

Since its inception, MMA fans have sneered at Bare Knuckle FC. However, with fighters like Mike Perry and Chad Mendes debuting with the promotion and partaking in exciting fights, is it time to start cheering?

It’s hard to tell how BKFC will run under Triller, and how the acquisition will affect its brand. Triller doesn’t have the greatest reputation itself, so this could water down its image or instead make it even more mainstream, with a potential for a Paul brother crossover even.

Paige VanZant

Paige VanZant is expected to make her BKFC debut on November 14.

VanZant left the UFC after her UFC 251 loss to Amanda Ribas to sign with the sans gloves promotion. It was expected she would have her debut fight later this year and now David Feldman says it will take place on November 14 on a stacked card with two title fights.

“It should be the debut of Paige,” Feldman told MMA Fighting about her debut with the card currently expected on Nov. 14. “I know she was sick recently, so we’re going to see if she’s going to be able to get back into training, or if we have to push it.

“That will also be Jim Alers vs. Luis Palomino and Johnny Bedford vs. Dat Nguyen. So we’re going to have at least two world championship fights on that card and I think we’re also going to have a women’s championship fight on that card as well. It’s going to be a tremendous couple months for us.”

Feldman is quite excited for this card as he knows it will be a massive one.

“It’s going to be sick,” Feldman said about the November card. “We’re so looking forward to that one.”

Although VanZant had COVID-19, her manager Abe Kawa says the worse case scenario is she fights in December. But, November is the targeted date.

“She’s doing better – she’s feeling way better,” Kawa said regarding VanZant’s health. “It looks like it’s going to be November. Worst case scenario it will be December, but it’s really going to be more up to if the team feels she’s ready for the fight and picked up all the bare-knuckle boxing nuances, that she’s learned how to do all that and gets it. But November’s the time frame.”

Currently, no opponent has been announced for Paige VanZant’s BKFC debut.

BKFC To Offer Mike Tyson More Than $20 Million To Fight Wanderlei Silva

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship will approach boxing legend Mike Tyson for a second time in the hopes he’ll make his comeback with their organization according to the promotions president David Feldman

Tyson announced his intention to return to fighting a few weeks back and it has caused mass hysteria in the world of combat sports. Fellow boxing legend Evander Holyfield has also announced his return to the ring at 57 years old. MMA veterans such as Andrei Arlovksi, Ken Shamrock ad Tito Ortiz have also offered themselves up as potential opponents for ‘Iron Mike’.

BKFC previously offered Tyson $20 million to fight for them – the offer was rejected. They will now return with an offer that exceeds that amount. Feldman told MMA Fighting he is unable to confirm the exact amount because that is still being finalized, he said.

“I think I know what we need to do to make this thing happen.”

BKFC Will Not Make Mike Tyson vs. Tito Ortiz

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Ortiz seems to be the most optimistic about being matched against Tyson. ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ has even put together a promo video for the potential fight. He says a promoter offered him the fight. Feldman though denies he is the man who has approached Ortiz with the fight offer.

“I didn’t offer that (to Ortiz),” Feldman said. “I don’t know that it really draws. I think a Wanderlei Silva, someone of that nature. No matter how old Silva gets, he’s dangerous, and I think that would be an intriguing matchup. Something like that, but I don’t actually have anything in mind right now.”

Feldman isn’t really focused on who will be facing Tyson in BKFC right now. The promotion’s president is more concerned with trying to convince the former heavyweight king to entertain there offers as he admits his previous one was immediately rejected by Tyson.

“First, I want to see if we can make the Mike thing happen, period, and then we’ll start talking opponents,” Feldman said. “We’re not successful yet in making that Mike thing happen. But I don’t think the door’s shut. He did say no immediately. But I think there’s room there.”

Do you think Dave Feldman will be able to convince Mike Tyson to sign with BKFC?
