Knockout of the Day: David Loiseau KO’s Mike Kent Three Times in Fifteen Seconds at ECC 18 – Road to Glory

David Loiseau is what you’d call a “Jekyll and Hyde” fighter. In his last four UFC appearances dating back to 2006, “The Crow” hasn’t exactly looked like the guy who once made Charles McCarthy shit out his own intestines, to put it revoltingly. You could even go as far as to say that he’s looked like “a canned dog shit sundae.” Yet when Loiseau’s paired against some young gun on the local circuit, like he was against Mike Kent at ECC 18 – Road to Glory last weekend, he manages to not only come away with a vicious KO victory, but technically three KO victories, in under fifteen seconds.

You can check out the above video to see what we mean, but on the off chance you live in one of those strange countries where Youtube videos aren’t easily accessible, allow me to break down the fight in the style of Bas Rutten:

“OK, here we go. David Loiseau is good with the kicks so let’s see what he’s gonna do ‘ere. Right straight and BONG! De left hook catches Kent right on his whoopsie-daisy! He’s down…David following up with some ground and pound and BING! BANG! DANGADADANG!! It’s over.

Personally, I would have let Kent back up and broke his liver to teach him a lesson but that’s just me. ZABADA-DABADA Brian Urlacher’s a pussy.”

With the win, Loiseau notched his fourth straight victory since being ousted from the UFC during his third tour of duty in 2010. Anyone see him making a fourth run at the big time?

Knockout of the Day: Taekwondo > Muay Thai?

(Video courtesy of YouTube/WhatsOnVideos)

Typically you don’t many instances that demonstrate the effectiveness of Taekwondo in combat sports.

Sure, guys like Anthony Pettis and David Loiseau (back in the day) have shown just how flashy and exciting the art can be, but as far as knockouts go, Muay Thai has become the weapon of choice for most fighters who want to finish opponents like Anderson Silva did Rich Franklin.

This kickboxing competition video out of Japan flipped that theory on its head in a matter of seconds when the Taekwondo dude immediately ran out to the center of the ring and spin-kicked the muay thai stylist into dreamland.

I’ve been wary of Taekwondo guys ever since this one day five years ago when a Korean teenager with jeans and socks on proceeded to tear the mounting straps of of and fold in half two heavy bags with consecutive roundhouse kicks at my kickboxing gym. He apologized, put his shoes back on and walked out as quickly as he came in as we all stared at him in awe wondering what the hell style the guy trained in.

This makes me feel a little bit better about my irrational fear of Taekwondo experts.

After taking a rather ugly TKO loss against Mario Miranda during the UFC 115 preliminary card earlier this month, Canadian veteran David Loiseau has been officially released by the UFC. The firing represents the fourth time that Loiseau has parted ways with the UFC since 2003, as well as his fourth-straight defeat in the Octagon — a losing skid that began with his unsuccessful shot at Rich Franklin’s middleweight title at UFC 58.

Following UFC 115, Dana White was openly disappointed with the way Loiseau performed: "David’s been in this sport a long time, and again tonight he got dominated on the ground. That’s his problem…I’m sure (UFC matchmaker) Joe (Silva) is probably going to cut him after this fight, and David will probably have to work his way back up again…He’s been around the game a long time, like I said, but he keeps getting dominated on the ground."
