Donald Cerrone’s scheduled showdown with Robbie Lawler at UFC 213 is reportedly “likely” to be moved to UFC 214, with the former said to be suffering with an “unspecified injury.”

According to Luke Thomas of MMA Fighting, Cerrone’s problem “prevents competing on the planned July 8 date but doesn’t preclude a relatively short turnaround.” It means the two may finally face off at UFC 214, which will be held on July 29 in Anaheim, California.

As noted by Thomas, these two were initially set to face off in a welterweight bout at UFC 205, but Lawler pulled out.

Any postponement would frustrate Lawler in his attempts to make a return to the Octagon. He’s not been in action since losing his welterweight title to Tyron Woodley in July last year.

When Cerrone does get back in action he’ll be seeking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Jorge Masvidal. The man known as the Cowboy was stopped in Round 2 in January.

If Cerrone withdraws, it will do further damage to a UFC 213 card that’s already suffered due to fighters pulling out. UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt withdrew from a clash with T.J. Dillashaw due to a back problem in what was scheduled to be the main event, per Thomas.

The current headline fight for UFC 213 is the bantamweight title match between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC 213 has taken a serious hit as a result of an injury. The UFC was planning to have a welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone and former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler at the event.

However, the bout has been pulled from the card and likely to be rescheduled for UFC 214, which takes place on Saturday, July 29th at Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will be headlined by a UFC light heavyweight bout between champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.

MMA Fighting is reporting that Cerrone has suffered an undisclosed injury that prevents him from competing at the event. While the injury was enough to pull Cerrone from the card, he is expected to have a quick turnaround.

If the bout is moved to UFC 214, then that will make the third time the UFC has tried to make this bout. If you recall, the promotion attempted to book these fighters against each other at UFC 205 last November, but Lawler pulled out of the bout.

Cerrone (32-8-1) is coming off a second-round TKO loss to Jorge Masvidal in January. On the flip side, Lawler (27-11-1) has been out of action for a year following him losing the UFC welterweight title to Tyron Woodley in July of 2016.

UFC 213 takes place on Saturday, July 8th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by a UFC women’s bantamweight title fight between champion Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko.

The event was supposed to be headlined by UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt against former champion and ex-teammate T.J. Dillashaw, but the bout was put on hold after Garbrandt withdrew due to a back injury.

MMA fighters are used to living life on the edge, knowing that every time they set foot in the cage they risk getting injured, knocked out or choked unconscious.

However, some of these battle-hardened warriors have gone far beyond that in their personal lives outside of the cage, finding themselves in truly terrifying situations where they have stared death straight in the face and yet somehow lived to tell the tale.

In this article we’ll explore 10 such stories, from near-fatal accidents to deadly altercations, not to mention several alarming incidents where it’s the fighters themselves who have been their own worst enemies.

Court McGee

Before he became an MMA fighter, Court McGee enjoyed drinking alcohol far too much for his own good.

It was a problem that got worse during his college years, but things really started to get out of hand when he broke his collarbone and clavicle in 2003 and then began mixing painkillers with the booze.

Over the next two years McGee would fall deeper into addiction, moving on to snorting crushed up Oxycontin, then cocaine, before finally turning to heroin as life began to completely fall apart.

One September 9th, 2005, McGee’s self-destructive behavior caught up with him and he overdosed on heroin, falling limp to the floor in the bathroom of his cousin’s trailer.

When paramedic’s arrived on scene they frantically tried to resuscitate McGee, whose heart would stop beating for eight minutes in total. It was only when an officer found a syringe that they realized he’d overdosed and were able to take the appropriate steps to bring him back to life.

Afterwards, McGee would spend six days in a coma and then had to undergo extensive rehabilitation to re-learn basic motor skills like walking.

Remarkably, just five months later McGee would relapse, emerging after a four-day binge with no pants on looking for a place to score meth.

That was the final straw and McGee sobered up soon after, got into recovery and found a sense of purpose in mixed martial arts, which would eventually lead to him fighting in the UFC, where he remains to this day.
