Conor McGregor made history at last weekend’s (Nov. 12, 2016) UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to become the first fighter in promotional history to hold two titles at one time, but not everyone was impressed with the Irishman’s achievement, especially Nick Diaz.

Apparently McGregor was at 1 Oak Nightclub earlier this week celebrating his victory at the same time as Diaz was in attendance. The Stockton native documented the experience on his snapchat, courtesy of TMZ Sports, and he had some choice words for the “Notorious” one:

“I was already a two-weight world champion, bitch,” Diaz said.

Diaz, a former Strikeforce welterweight champion, recently finished serving out a suspension handed him to him by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) after testing positive for Marijuana in January 2015, but he does not currently have a fight booked. His younger brother Nate does indeed have a history with McGregor, however, as the two have done battle twice thus far with the younger Diaz brother submitting the Irishman back at UFC 196, and McGregor scoring a majority decision victory in the rematch at UFC 202.

With the “Notorious” one now holding the lightweight title, a trilogy bout between him and Nate Diaz is a real possibility. Would you like to see the two run it back once again?

Khabib Nurmagomedov Won’t Fight In The UFC If Not Granted Title Shot

No. 2-ranked undefeated UFC lightweight contender Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov furthered his case for a lightweight title shot with a dominant submission victory over No. 6-ranked Michael Johnson at this past weekend’s (Nov. 12, 2016) UFC 205. Conor McGregor, who won the 155-pound title in the main event, doesn’t feel as if “The Eagle” deserves the next shot at the title.

Nurmagomedov took his official Twitter account early tonight to make it clear that he was willing to take extreme action if not given a title shot:

Prior to the UFC booking Eddie Alvarez vs. McGregor for the title, Nurmagomedov claimed that he had been sent two bout agreements for a title fight with “The Underground King”, but it seemed as if the UFC temporarily used him as a ‘pawn’.

As far as who may realistically receive the next shot at McGregor, the situation remains a bit cloudy especially given the fact that he now holds titles in two different weight divisions. A featherweight title defense could be next for the Irishman, as well as lightweight title fights with No. 1-ranked Tony Ferguson or No. 4-ranked Nate Diaz, who McGregor has already fought twice. On top of that, the outspoken Irishman has touched on the possibility of fighting welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley.

Does Nurmagomedov have a reason to be angry here?

Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has already criticized himself quite a bit for his title losing performance against Conor McGregor at this past weekend’s (Nov. 12, 2016) UFC 205 from New York City, and now he’s hearing it from a fellow 155 pounder.

Kevin Lee, who meets Magomed Mustafaev at this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 99 from Belfast, recently told MMAJunkie that Alvarez ‘embarrassed’ the whole division with his performance against the “Notorious” one:

“It’s definitely frustrating,” Lee said. “I was frustrated as hell the night of the fight. Eddie embarrassed the entire division. I don’t understand why he could come out with a game plan like that. Conor’s shown that he don’t get emotional in there. He makes these guys get emotional and I don’t understand, it’s not an emotional game.

“You can’t get sucked into that. To lead with a power strike every time against – Conor’s got great timing, he’s got great movement. You got to come up with a good game plan to beat him and Eddie just embarrassed the entire division.”

After being dropped multiple times in the first round, Alvarez ended up falling in the second at the hands of a brutal combination from McGregor. “The Underground King” admitted in the aftermath of the bout that he strayed away from his game plan.

Continuing on, Lee said that Alvarez fought like an ‘idiot’, and that if ever saw the ex-champion he would ‘slap the hell out of him’:

“I was embarrassed for him,” Lee said. “If I ever see Eddie I’ll slap the hell out of him. It was embarrassing and it embarrassed us all. I’m 100 percent confident I’m going to get that chance. We’re just bigger men up here. (McGregor) ran into a good one in Eddie. Eddie came out like an idiot. He’s supposed to fight good against guys like that.”

What do you make of Lee’s comments?

After a historic victory at this past weekend’s (Nov. 12, 2016) UFC 205, Conor McGregor has a plethora of options awaiting him, and one of the most often talked about, yet least likely options is a potential boxing match between McGregor and retired all-time great Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

Apparently some are also comparing the Irish superstar to Mayweather, a comparison “Money” isn’t too pleased with. In fact, the former pound-for-pound king recently spoke on the topic with TMZ Sports:

“I didn’t know Conor McGregor was undefeated, or that he had reigned in MMA for 20 years undefeated, and was world champion in five different weight divisions,” Mayweather said. “That’s something I didn’t know, so I guess you guys are telling me something new. If you say he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA, I’m trying to find out. Have you ever made $300 million in one night? Have You Ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night?”

McGregor did indeed win his second title in a second weight class last weekend with a brutal second round knockout victory over Eddie Alvarez, but “Money” simply feels as if the “Notorious” one shouldn’t be compared to him:

“I’m a legend, a living legend. I gave to the sport of boxing years and years of hard work. It was blood, sweat and tears, I had a tremendous team, a tremendous run. I think it’s time for Conor McGregor to do what he do, but never compare Conor McGregor to me, that’s total disrespect. I’m an elephant and elephants don’t beef with ants. Elephant is so large he don’t even see ants.”

Coach: Alvarez Had To Bring A Hell Of A Lot More

Conor McGregor made history this past weekend (Nov. 12, 2016) at UFC 205 when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez in the second round of their main event bout to become the first fighter in promotional history to simultaneously hold two titles at one time. The “Notorious” one was dominant, but that’s not because Alvarez took him lightly, at least according to McGregor’s longtime head coach John Kavanagh:

“I think it’s more talk,” he said on “The MMA Hour” earlier this afternoon. “I think there is no doubt these guys did whatever they could in training — they absolutely killed themselves. You see Eddie with a black eye eight days out, that’s sparring hard, so the work was put in. I just think it’s a major surprise to them when the first shot lands.”

Despite the work Kavanagh assumes Alvarez put in, he did admit that he simply felt as if the contest was a ‘mismatch’ in terms of the two fighters skill sets:

“To be honest, and I was thinking about how I was going to say this because I know it will be taken out of context, and it’s absolutely no comment on Eddie’s personality as a person — he seems like a great guy, solid fighter. But, if we are just looking at skill sets, going in — and it was a reason I was able to take it all in during the week — but this was a massive mismatch,” declared Kavanagh.

“Again, that’s nothing against him as a person, I’m just saying skills-wise. I really felt this would look worse than the (Marcus) Brimage fight. I knew it’d be that style of fight that he would always be too late, always getting hit and fall apart. I did think his toughness would take him into the second round. But, skills-wise, I just thought it was a massive mismatch. And I will humbly offer the evidence of the fight that it warranted that. All of our people back home, all of our sparring partners we all saw this thinking, ‘This is going to be a bad fight. This is going to look terrible.’”

At the end of the day, Kavanagh simply felt as if McGregor was too comfortable with Alvarez’s style as opposed to the Irishman’s past opponent, Nate Diaz, who offered different challenges:

“Where as Nate (Diaz) was so interesting because style and size wise. It wasn’t a massive size difference, but, it was enough to make it interesting and enough to offer new problems. But, this one, unorthodox, head down kind of brawler with a simple style of wrestling, not very complicated. I just felt like you have to bring a hell of lot more than that to the plate to trouble what I think is the best fighter on the planet right now.”

Do you agree with the head trainer’s assessment of his star pupil’s performance?

The “Notorious” Conor McGregor had a lot to celebrate after UFC 205, which took place on Saturday (Nov. 12, 2015) night from the famed Madison Square Garden in New York.

After all, the motor mouthed Irishman put on a spectacular performance in the evening’s main event, demolishing Eddie Alvarez in the second round to become not only the undisputed lightweight champion, but also the first fighter in promotional history to hold two titles in different weight classes at one time.

After his historic victory, McGregor hosted his after party at a club in New York City according to MMAJunkie, and apparently McGregor’s old rival Nate Diaz took the time to show up. The two seemed to avoid each other, but TMZ was able to capture footage of Diaz making an appearance.

Check out the clip below:

McGregor and Diaz first met back at UFC 196 in March 2016 when Diaz shocked the world by scoring a second round submission victory over the “Notorious” one. McGregor was then obsessed with a rematch and the two ran it back at August 20’s UFC 202 when McGregor was able to score a majority decision victory.

After the rematch, the Irishman said that a trilogy bout would take place down the line, and perhaps there’s no better time given the fact that he now holds the 155-pound strap. After all, Diaz is ranked No. 4 at lightweight, and he sure did his part in drumming up interest for a third bout.

Would you like to see McGregor and Diaz square off once more?
