Eddie Alvarez is not deserving of a title shot. However, Angela Lee is willing to look past that as far as her brother Christian is concerned.

Christian is the current ONE lightweight champion with Alvarez recently calling him out.

Christian, however, was dismissive of the callouts given Alvarez has only won once in four ONE outings with his last fight being a decision defeat to Rae Yoon Ok.

However, Christian’s sister Angela acknowledges that it’s the biggest fight that can be made — which is why she isn’t opposed to Alvarez getting a title shot next.

“If you look at Eddie’s record on paper since he joined ONE, it’s not too impressive,” Angela said (via MMA Junkie). “Just looking at what fights he’s had in ONE, you’d think he’s undeserving of a title shot, but given that Eddie comes from a history of being previous UFC champion, being previous Bellator champion, and he has a huge following, and a lot of fans want that fight then I think that would be the only reason for Christian to take the fight against Eddie, is that’s the fight the fans want.

“That’s the fight that’s gonna be the biggest draw. So I don’t think that Christian owes Eddie this title fight, I don’t think Eddie’s deserving of the title fight, but just because it’s in such high demand by the fans that I think, yeah sure, why not? Make it happen.”

Even with Alvarez winless in his last two, it’s hard to deny that him against Lee would be one of the biggest fights the Singapore-based promotion can put out.

J’Leon Love continues to stir the pot with MMA fighters, this time taking aim at ONE Championship star Eddie Alvarez.

The 33 year-old Love is a super middleweight boxer who has put together a 24-3-1-1 record throughout his career. While he hasn’t fought since getting knocked out by David Benavidez in March 2019, he has become more notable recently for serving as Jake Paul’s trainer. Love was in Paul’s corner when he knocked out Ben Askren, and rose to fame when cameras caught him in a confrontation with Tyron Woodley before the fight.

While there were preliminary talks to put together a fight between Love and Woodley, the former UFC welterweight champion has since signed on to face Paul himself. This left Love without an opponent and looking for a fight. He took to social media to claim that Alvarez had called him out recently, and claimed he did so because he was in need of money.

Not wanting to let Love set a false narrative, Alvarez was quick to respond.

Love was willing to admit that he may have tagged the wrong fighter, but didn’t take too kindly to the extra shots Alvarez threw in. However, ‘The Underground King’ didn’t appear too eager to engage in the Twitter spat.

The flames between the two were once again ignited when Alvarez agreed with a fan who said that Love wouldn’t fare too well against the MMA star in a cage.

This of course ended up with Love officially offering to fight Alvarez in the squared circle. The former UFC lightweight champion declined the invitation, and left Love with a reminder of who would win in a real fight.

But, if Love is so desperate to get back into the ring, Alvarez does have a suggestion as to who Love can fight: his friend and fellow Philadelphian Ray Robinson.

Eddie Alvarez: Justin Gaethje Is A ‘Terrible’ Matchup For Michael Chandler

Former UFC lightweight champion and current ONE Championship lightweight contender, Eddie Alvarez, has offered his thoughts on the likely matchup between ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler and Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje following Chandler’s unsuccessful attempt to claim the UFC lightweight title from Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira at UFC 262.

Despite both fighters suffering losses in their most recent title fights, UFC President Dana White still appears keen to match Chandler and Gaethje together, possibly as a title eliminator matchup. One man who has faced them both is Eddie Alvarez. Both of his Bellator encounters with Chandler were legendary in their own right, whilst his brutal slugfest with Gaethje at UFC 218 was a strong Fight of The Year contender.

Speaking to Chisanga Malata, Alvarez offered his two cents on their potential fight, he said. “I think Gaethje is a terrible match-up for him, and I think he should probably stay away from Gaethje. That’s not a good matchup for him. But we’ll see, man. It’s really up to him and his desire. We’ll only know on fight night.”

Alvarez does make an interesting point. Whilst Michael Chandler is as tough as they come (proving that in the first round against Charles Oliveira), Gaethje is violence personified. He loves the stand-and-bang, rock-em sock-em approach, and he has world class amateur wrestling as well, so it’s very clear that this would be no simple, bloodless affair for Michael Chandler.

Ultimately though, as Alvarez himself said, it all comes down to fight night. And there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that there is not a fighter alive more qualified to produce such an opinion than Eddie Alvarez; he managed to overcome Chandler in their second match-up at Bellator 106, and he managed to get a TKO finish over one of the toughest fighters on the planet at UFC 218, who’s only other losses were to Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

This fight will undoubtedly be a wild affair, and it is extremely interesting to consider how it will turn out if it does eventually occur. One thing is for sure though – neither fighter is going to take a step backward, and both fighters will leave it all in the Octagon come what may.

Do you agree with Eddie Alvarez? Is Justin Gaethje a terrible match-up for Michael Chandler?
