These odds suggest that bookmakers and bettors see this as a very evenly matched contest, with Blanchfield having just a slight edge. The close odds are likely due to Blanchfield’s recent success and rising star status in the division, against Namajunas’ experience and championship background. However, the narrow margin indicates that oddsmakers believe Namajunas has a very real chance of pulling off the win, making this an unpredictable fight for fans.

Rose Namajunas calls for dream title fight in Lithuania after UFC Denver win

Former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is looking to fight Erin Blanchfield next time out.

Namajunas is coming off a decision win over Tracy Cortez to improve to 2-1 at flyweight, and now ‘Thug’ is hoping to get in a No. 1 contender fight at flyweight. The hope for Namajunas is to fight Blanchfield at Madison Square Garden in November.

“I know I said a bunch of different things, but now what’s sort of making sense in my mind is Erin Blanchfield,” Namajunas said on Bruce Buffer’s YouTube Channel (via SI). “And if there’s Madison Square Garden in November, I would love that.”

A fight between Rose Namajunas and Blanchfield would make a lot of sense, as the winner could very well get a title shot. It would also help boost up the pay-per-view card as both are big names.

Namajunas is ranked fifth at flyweight while Blanchfield is ranked third.

Erin Blanchfield accepts Rose Namajunas’ callout

Following Rose Namajunas calling out Erin Blanchfield to fight next time out, however, she would prefer it being a main event.

Blanchfield is coming off her first UFC loss, and she thinks the perfect fight for her is against Namajunas, as she also called for the bout.

“I definitely feel like (the perfect next fight) is Rose,” Blanchfield said to MMAJunkie. “She’s a very good fighter, so it’s someone great to test my skills against and get better fighting her. I mean, she’s a former champ. That could easily be a main event of a Fight Night. I think that makes perfect sense.”

Although Blanchfield does prefer fighting as the main event, she isn’t ruling out fighting at MSG.

“The taxes are definitely not great, but I did love fighting at MSG last time,” Blanchfield said. “Obviously, it’s close to home and all my family and friends can come. It’s just obviously an iconic place. I’d just love to fight there as much as I could. So if that works out, I’d love to fight at MSG.”

Blanchfield is 12-2 as a pro and coming off a decision loss to Manon Fiorot.

Manon Fiorot kept her ‘O’ inside the Octagon intact with a decisive unanimous decision victory over rising contender Erin Blanchfield in the UFC Atlantic City headliner.

Fiorot found herself in a bit of trouble in the opening round as she went for an early takedown and ended up in a tight guillotine attempt. Despite Blanchfield’s best effort to squeeze out an early win, ‘The Beast’ was able to fight her way out of danger. From there, it was all Fiorot as her distance management stifled much of Blanchfield’s offense throughout the five-round affair.

Blanchfield attempted to pick up the pace in the fourth and even landed a big head kick in the fifth, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to secure a win over the No. 3 ranked contender.

Blanchfield, the current number two ranked flyweight contender, most recently turned in an impressive unanimous decision win over one-time title challenger, Taila Santos back in August in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night Singapore – improving on her so-far promotional-perfect run.

And touted to challenge for flyweight gold at the very least in the future, Blanchfield, who boasts an impressive 12-1 professional record, has been entertained as a potential opponent alongside Manon Fiorot by undisputed champion, Grasso, following her split draw decision against Valentina Shevchenko over the course of the weekend at Noche UFC.

Furthermore, despite suggestions of a trilogy title fight between Grasso and Shevchenko amid their controversial draw, New Jersey native, Blanchfield has claimed she should “definitely” compete for flyweight spoils next.

“I feel like I definitely should be next,” Erin Blanchfield told The Schmo during a recent interview. “I feel like trilogies sometimes can clog up the divisions. Putting in some new blood for the title would be super helpful. I know Manon (Fiorot) is right behind me, so if anything, I could beat her up, too, if they [the UFC] did a trilogy next. But i want to be next.”

“That was a crazy fight,” Erin Blanchfield continued. “Sitting there, I thought Valentina (Shevchenko) won. I thought she did enough, I’ll definitely have to watch it back and see, but crazy fight. I think she did [win]. I’d have to watch it back to kind of remember what happened each roun and see what girl capitalized on what. But in the moment, I thought Valentina won.”

Prior to her decision win over Brazilian contender, Santos, former Invicta FC standout, Blanchfield had turned in consecutive submission win overs Molly McCann, and a hugely-impressive stoppage of former undisputed strawweight champion, Jessica Andrade in her premiere headlining clash.
