Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir has been notified of a USADA test that came back positive for a banned substance.

Mir posted a message online, stating that he “did not take” the substance and that he doesn’t “know how that is possible as I did not take any performance enhancing drugs to compete.”

The Las Vegas native lost to Mark Hunt in Australia recently. Mir is 18-11 overall in his career and 16-11 with the UFC.

Please read my statement regarding USADA test:

The UFC released a statement regarding the possible violation:

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Frank Mir of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an in-competition sample collected the day of his fight on March 20, 2016 in Brisbane, Australia.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Mir. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.

Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

Miesha Tate’s first title defense will come at UFC 200, as the reigning UFC female bantamweight champion takes on Amanda Nunes.

The bout was announced with Tate in attendance on Wednesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight.”

Tate vs. Nunes will join a lineup that includes Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight title.

Tate (18-5) finds herself on a five-fight win streak, including her March victory over Holly Holm for the belt. The former Strikeforce champion scored a technical submission in the fifth round of their bout, joining a select few to hold titles in both promotions.

Her run includes decision victories over Jessica Eye, Sara McMann, Rin Nakai and Liz Carmouche.

The 27-year-old Nunes (12-4) has won three in a row since a 2014 loss to Cat Zingano. Overall, the Brazilian is 5-1 inside the Octagon, including victories over Valentina Shevchenko, McMann and Shayna Baszler.

An injury to Tony Ferguson has scratched the planned UFC on FOX 19 main event. The card will now be headlined by Rashad Evans vs. Glover Teixeira, according to a report by FOXSports.com.

Ferguson was set to meet Khabib Nurmagomedov in a title-eliminator in the lightweight division. Evans-Teixeira will be five rounds in the light heavyweight division.

Evans (19-4-1) is a former UFC light heavyweight champion, but is just 2-3 over his last five. He was bested last October by Ryan Bader, snapping his two-fight win streak that included victories over Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson.

Teixeira (24-4) was a replacement for Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in this bout, as the ex-UFC champion suffered an injury of his own. The former title contender is on a two-fight win streak, having bested Patrick Cummins and upcoming interim title fighter Ovince Saint Preux after back-to-back decision defeats at the hands of Phil Davis and Jon Jones.

It remains to be seen if officials will find a replacement for Ferguson or keep Nurmagomedov – who has battled injuries of his own over the past couple of years – off the card completely.

One possible replacement would be Donald Cerrone, as “Cowboy” does have a fight lined up, but is always willing to step in on short notice.
