Back to winning ways in one-sided fashion, former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker scores his first victory of 2022, in a unanimous decision win against Marvin Vettori in the co-main event of UFC Paris.

Utilizing his patented bounce and movement throughout the opening round, former champion Robert Whittaker, found his range on occasion against Vettori. And managed to stuff an initial takedown entry in the opening frame as Vettori looked to bring his own wrestling offense into the co-headlining clash.

Countering once again well in the second frame, Whittaker landed well upstairs once more on Trento aggressor, Vettori — as the Kings MMA staple failed to find his range as of yet. Whittaker twice goes close in this frame with that ducking round kick, however, Vettori successfully evades. Good right hand lands for Robert Whittaker as the round closes.

Urged to up the pace in the third and final round as he likely requires a finish, Vettori was immediately countered with a straight shot off the back of a missed high kick. Landing a high kick of his own, Whittaker forced the Italian to retreat, but is still unable to close the show.

Shooting for a takedown once more, Vettori is unable to crack the defense of the former champion, as Whittaker forces Vettori to fight on the fence for the remainder of the round — before shooting his own takedown successfully.

Nassourdine Imavov edged out Joaquin Buckley in an exciting barn-burner at UFC Paris.

Nathaniel Wood put on a dominant display to defeat Charles Jourdain in the opening bout of the main card at UFC Paris.

Going into the bout after two impressive finishes, Imavov was looking to extend his win streak to three against Buckley on the main card of UFC Paris this Saturday at Accor Arena for the promotion’s debut event in France.

Buckley showed some great lateral movement, keeping on the outside against the seemingly much larger opponent. Imavov knocked Buckley’s mouthguard out of his mouth in the first round with a front kick and showed major aggression. Buckley looked to be in trouble after Imavov caught a spinning kick attempt and took him against the cage but managed to escape.

Imavov’s footwork looked stellar as he remained elusive. Imavov got Buckley on the ground and landed a few strikes before the buzzer in the first. Buckley landed a good shot in the second but got taken down by Imavov, who took his back quickly for a rear-naked choke. Buckley did well to survive the submission attempt. Buckley started swinging hard and wild in the last round.

Nassourdine Imavov defeated Joaquin Buckley after going the full distance via a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Nathaniel Wood put on a dominant display to defeat Charles Jourdain in the opening bout of the main card at UFC Paris.

After a rocky last five outings under the banner, winning two and dropping two, Wood returned to take on Charles Jourdain on the main card of UFC Paris this Saturday at Accor Arena for the promotion’s debut event in France.

Jourdain looked sharp from distance in an exciting affair that saw high-volume action from both men. Wood appeared to get out struck before landing a huge shot that wobbled Jourdain in the first round. Wood asserted his dominance in the second round but Jourdain held his own to keep it competitive.

Nathaniel Wood defeated Charles Jourdain after going the distance by unanimous decision.

Landing one of the most impressive victories of the night so far, Abus Magomedov certainly turned in a performance to remember in his featured preliminary bout fight with Dustin Stoltzfus — flattening the Lancaster native with a timely first round knockout in just 18-seconds at UFC Paris at the Accor Arena.

Magomedov, 32, making his Octagon debut following a prior victory under the Polish banner, KSW — got off to a blistering start in his UFC tenure, striking with a massive front kick in the opening exchanges, notably wobbling Stoltzfus, and sending him retreating.

Following up a series of strikes, the German-born finisher notched his Octagon victory on his debut with a flurry at the fence, turning in professional win number 25 in the process.
