Fedor Emelianenko may be walking away after his fight with Tim Johnson, or he might fight out his Bellator contract.

There is not much to be said about Fedor that has not already been said. The Russian MMA legend has been competing since the turn of the century, and despite more than two decades and nearly 50 pro fights, he is still set to return to the cage against Timothy Johnson at Bellator 269 this weekend, having won three of his last four fights.

Obviously, with this much fight time and the fact that he is 45 years old, there are lingering questions about how much longer he wants to compete before retiring. Speaking on The MMA Hour, he made it clear that retirement was not off the table after this fight, explaining that he wants to see how he feels while knowing that he still has another fight on his Bellator contract.

“There’s is such a chance. Certainly, that would depend on my health, on my physical condition after the fight. Certainly, we’ll discuss, we’ll discuss that with the family as well,” Fedor said, through a translator.

“No I haven’t made any decision. Everything will depend on my performance, everything will depend on this fight, and certainly on the plans of Bellator, because according to the contract I still have another fight.”

This would not be the first time that Fedor Emelianenko decided to retire from MMA, initially calling it a career in 2012 before making a comeback three years later. With that in mind, it seems likely that when he ends his career this time around, it will almost certainly be for good.

In the meantime, you can catch his fight with Timothy Johnson, set to go down in Moscow, Russia, this Saturday, October 23rd, at Bellator 269. The fate of the Russian legend’s fighting future likely depends on the outcome of this fight.

Fedor Emelianenko Bashes Dana White, ‘He Has No Respect For Fighters’

Fedor Emelianenko is getting ready to get back in the Bellator cage, but first has some words for Dana White.

The Russian heavyweight will most likely go down in history as one of the best to ever step in the cage. He will once again grace the Bellator cage on Oct. 23 as he steps into the cage against Tim Johnson at Bellator 269.

Emelianenko’s run in Bellator followed a long and successful career with Pride and other organizations. He never had his opportunity with the UFC, and when asked, expressed some strong feelings toward UFC president Dana White.

“A very unfavorable impression. Money means everything to him, he has no respect towards fighters, no respect for any human being. Only money and that’s all,” Emelianenko said in an interview with TASS.com.

Emelianenko and White have had a difficult relationship over the years. Many believe that the bad relationship between the two was what essentially kept Fedor out of the UFC all of these years. There was a time when it seemed the UFC and White did want to sign Emelianenko, but the deal never went through.

“There is nothing humane about him and I found that quite revolting,” he continued. “Money, of course, is important for living and for the family. But trading human relations for money is unacceptable.”

At 45 years old, Emelianenko is nearing the end of his long career. This fight with Johnson could be a farewell tour. The fight will be held in his home country of Russia. Despite his age, Emelianenko is still one of the best around. He has only lost two fights in his last ten outings. If this bot against Johnson turns out to be his last, the legacy of “The Last Emperor” will go done in the history books.

Do you wish that the UFC had signed Fedor in his prime?

Fedor Explains Why He Chose To Fight Tim Johnson Over dos Santos

Even as his career comes to a close, “The Last Emperor” still wants to test himself.

Fedor Emelianenko was once considered by many as the best fighter on the planet. At 45-years-old, it seems Emelianenko’s fighting career should be coming to an end soon. Yet, even as the curtain closes on a historic run that saw the Russian win 27 bouts straight, Emelianenko doesn’t want easy wins.

Speaking with MMA Junkie, Emelianenko details why he chose to fight Tim Johnson.

“Tim Johnson had quite a winning streak going on,” Emelianenko told MMA Junkie at a virtual news conference. “That obviously shows he’s quite a good fighter. Fighting someone who is spearheading the (division) is always a great opportunity.”

One man whose name was tentatively linked to a bout with the former PRIDE heavyweight champion is Junior dos Santos. After parting ways with the UFC, dos Santos began calling to fight Emelianenko in Russia. The match-up briefly seemed like a possibility, but it was soon announced that Johnson would be the man flying to Moscow.

Johnson, at least for Emelianenko, made more sense as an opponent.

“Aside from Tim Johnson, Dos Santos, for example, had a serious streak of losses alongside,” Emelianenko said. “He was also fighting for the UFC, as well. That is why I don’t think it would’ve been much suitable to fight him compared to Tim Johnson. Not to mention the fact that Bellator came up with a bunch of options and Tim was the obvious choice.”

dos Santos ended his long tenure with the UFC with four straight losses. While Johnson doesn’t have a “serious streak of losses,” the heavyweight has gone 3-3 since signing with Bellator. His most recent outing ended in a loss to Valentin Moldavsky.

Emelianenko finds himself 3-2 since signing with Bellator in 2017. In 2019, Emelianenko knocked out Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the first round. Since the victory, he’s been absent from the cage due to border closings and his own bout with COVID.

Bellator 269: Fedor vs. Johnson takes place this Saturday, October 23, 2021, from Dinamo Lev Yashin Stadium in Moscow, Russia and will air live on Showtime.

Fedor Emelianenko Explains Why He Turned Down Junior Dos Santos

The MMA community was a bit perplexed when it was announced that heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko would fight Tim Johnson for his Bellator return at Bellator 269, and favored matchups with Junior dos Santos and others.

But Emelianenko has explained why the dos Santos fight was never really in the cards for his return bout.

Emelianenko will make his return to the Bellator cage in front of his hometown crowd in Moscow, RU, in the promotion’s first-ever event in the country. He hasn’t fought since Bellator 237 when he knocked out Rampage Jackson in the first round.

Fedor Emelianenko will make his highly-anticipated return at Bellator 269

Once it was announced that Emelianenko was going to make a comeback this year, there were many opponents who were expected to be in the running for a fight. Dos Santos was a name that made sense to many MMA fans but not to Emelianenko.

“Fighting someone who is spearheading the [division] is always a great opportunity,” Emelianenko said during Bellator 269 media day. “Aside from Tim Johnson, [Junior] dos Santos for example had a serious streak of losses alongside [his record] and he was also fired from the UFC as well.”

“That is why I don’t think it would be very much suitable to fight him compared to Tim Johnson. Not to mention Bellator came up with a bunch of options and Tim was quite an obvious choice.”

Before getting the fight with Emelianenko, Johnson had lost in an interim title bout against Valentin Moldavsky. Dos Santos was among a few big names, including Alistair Overeem, who was cut from the UFC earlier this year due to big losing skids.

Despite his recent struggles, fans wanted a fight between Emelianenko and either dos Santos or Overeem for the name value. But, the promotion ended up booking a fight with Johnson instead.

How do you think a Fedor Emelianenko vs. Junior dos Santos fight would’ve gone?

Dustin Poirier divulges who would be engraved in his MMA Mount Rushmore.

Poirier has become a superstar in recent years. From his all-out wars with Justin Gaethje and Dan Hooker to his rivalry with Conor McGregor, the American Top Team standout has become must-see TV whenever he steps into the Octagon. But who inspired “The Diamond” to ascend to the top of the MMA world? Speaking to Valuetainment in a recent interview, Poirier detailed his favorite MMA athlete of all time.

“I used to be a huge fan of Georges St-Pierre. He’s one of the guys who can do it all. And back around when he was really starting to rise up, a guy was a grappler, or a guy was a wrestler, or this guy’s a kickboxer.  He was one of the first guys who could really put everything together and was a complete mixed martial artist, world champion, spoke well, and I was a big fan of Georges.”

Not only is Poirier a fan of GSP, but he also believes that the Canadian would warrant a spot on a hypothetical Mt. Rushmore for MMA Fighters. When rounded out his monument to the greats, Poirier mentioned a few other fighters that often come up in G.O.A.T debates, including one of his former opponents.

“Khabib’s up there, Fedor is up there. Fedor’s gotta be up there. Jon Jones has to be up there, too.”

In December, Dustin Poirier will look to build on his own legacy. The former UFC title contender will once again go for the gold when he meets Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.

The title bout will be Poirier’s first challenge since earning a TKO over Conor McGregor back in July.

Who would be in your Mount Rushmore of MMA?

Fedor Emelianenko Talks Ring Girls In MMA: ‘Dress Them More Decent’

Fedor EmelianenkoFedor Emelianenko has given his opinion on the presence of ring girls in MMA after Khabib Nurmagomedov called them the most “useless” people in the sport. “Look, I don’t want to offend anyone, ring girls are the most useless people in martial arts,” Nurmagomedov said at a recent press conference in Moscow, Russia. “What is […]

Fedor Emelianenko has given his opinion on the presence of ring girls in MMA after Khabib Nurmagomedov called them the most “useless” people in the sport.

“Look, I don’t want to offend anyone, ring girls are the most useless people in martial arts,” Nurmagomedov said at a recent press conference in Moscow, Russia. “What is their purpose? I have a question. You can show that it is the second round on the screen.”

“I realize that is a history. History knows many mistakes. We read history to avoid mistakes of the past in the future. If we look in the history, it says they are useless. That is my personal opinion.”

“For example, I sit with my father. Every person has his own preferences, the culture and values. I come to Fight Night, sit with my father. These people are passing by and showing that it is the second round. But no one looks at the plate,” Nurmagomedov added.

“I feel uncomfortable with my father. I am not against it. If you want you can do it, but don’t impose it to me, do it aside. There are the designated places for it. I think we must not mix all of it. This is my private opinion.”

Emelianenko was asked if he agrees with Nurmagomedov during a recent interview with Fighting Flashback ahead of his Bellator 269 match-up with Timothy Johnson on October 23,

“The girls are showing the number of the round…[Round shaped] plates. The only [thing] is to dress them more decent.”

When pressed on the subject of ring girls in MMA, Emelianenko seemed unconcerned about the debate and tried to bring the interview back to relevant subject matters.

“You know I don’t have [anything to do with it]. I have enough problems and affairs of my team and my family to not fill my head with stupid things.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

Do you agree with Fedor Emelianenko? Should ring girl dress more decently?
