Pat Barry may be the only fighter in the UFC who’s willing to admit it, but he’s pretty sure he’s not the only one who feels it.

When his impending fight against Joey Beltran at the UFC’s Fight for the Troops 2 finally began to seem a little more real this week, he wasn’t exactly feeling eager to get in there and slug it out. More like eager to get it over with.

“Honestly, I don’t think it’s anything new or particular to me,” Barry said. “I think most guys feel this, but they won’t tell you. Hell man, I can admit it. It’s the week of the fight; I don’t want to fight no more. You know? [Laughs] It’s like all of a sudden, the idea of fighting is very stupid.”

Melvin Guillard woke up one morning and realized that he had to change his life. Then he did. It’s as simple as that, the UFC lightweight told MMA Fighting.

“I made a lot of mistakes after my father died,” said Guillard. “I made a lot of excuses for myself, and that’s something I don’t do now. I don’t make excuses. Everything I did, I did because I wanted to do. Nobody ever forced me to do anything. I used my dad’s death as a scapegoat to be able to get away with things I was doing, and that was wrong. My dad taught me not to make excuses, and using his death as an excuse is one of the most hurtful things I could have done.”

Some of Guillard’s personal problems are already a matter of public record, such as when he tested positive for cocaine following a loss to Joe Stevenson in 2007. But beyond just that, Guillard said, was a core problem with his attitude toward life.

Evan Dunham: Guillard’s New Style Is One Way to Fight, but Not My Way

Of all the people who were outraged over the judges’ decision that gave Sean Sherk a win over Evan Dunham at UFC 119, the first one to let it go and move past it might have been Dunham himself.

Others – including UFC president Dana White – can put a mental asterisk next to the defeat in the record books if they want, but don’t expect Dunham to join in.

“I definitely had a period where I thought a lot more about it, but it’s over. It’s done,” said Dunham. “I don’t think [Sherk] won that fight, but I see it for what it is. I don’t think about it too much anymore. I’ve got better things to do, like get ready to fight on the 22nd. It was a good experience, and it felt good to perform well against someone of his caliber, but when you look at it on paper, whether it’s now or five years from now, it’s a loss.”

You’ve seen him serve a monk, an old lady, and his boss. You’ve seen him wreck a punch-machine with high kicks. But son, you ain’t ready for a hulked-up Pat Barry with a full head of hair. The above photo was part of a blog post called "THUNDA CAT TRAINING!" that Pat recently put up on Alienwarearena.com. As the UFC heavyweight writes, "SuckerPunch has set me up at Complete Clinics where I have been doing sessions in the CVAC machine and my new Strength and conditioning coach, Eric Gramza, is turnin me into a GORILLA!"

Barry is set to scrap with Joey Beltran at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 on January 22nd. Unfortunately for the Mexecutioner, gorillas do not hug their enemies. Some more alarming pics of Pat Barry are after the jump…

We’ll let Kenny break the bad news himself:

It is with deep regret that I will not be able to compete in my scheduled fight against Evan Dunham on January 22nd, due to a knee injury I sustained during training this morning. Although I have not had an MRI as of yet; the doctors are cautiously optimistic that it will not require surgery. I want to express my sincere apologies to the fans, the UFC and Evan for not being able to compete at UFC Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2. Since early September, I have been training for this fight. Evan is a great fighter and has undoubtedly been working very hard towards this fight as well. Plus, it is a big disappointment that I will not be able to fight in the octagon for the brave soldiers that fight for us. I am determined to return to the octagon in the first half on 2011. Accordingly, I will keep you all updated.

The Fight for the Troops 2 main event was to be Florian’s return to the cage after his tough unanimous decision loss against Gray Maynard in August. Dunham most recently dropped a controversial split-decision to Sean Sherk at UFC 119 — but luckily, he already has a replacement opponent lined up for January…

UFC lightweight and Fight for the Troops 2 headliner Kenny Florian has been forced out of his scheduled January 22 bout with Evan Dunham after suffering a training injury.

Florian confirmed the news on his blog. Though he didn’t detail the injury, a source close to the fighter told MMA Fighting that Florian suffered a torn knee ligament.

The UFC veteran noted on his blog, however, that his doctors are “cautiously optimistic” that the injury will not require surgery.
