Kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa unsuccessfully challenged Floyd Mayweather inside the ring recently.

On New Year’s Eve in Tokyo, Japan, “Money” stepped into the ring against Nasukawa for an exhibition bout at RIZIN FF 14. The fight did not count on either man’s record and was scheduled to go three three-minute rounds. Instead, Mayweather finished the action early in the first round after knocking Nasukawa down three times.

After the third knockdown, Nasukawa’s corner threw in the towel to protect their fighter from suffering further damage. Shortly after his defeat to arguably the greatest boxer who has ever lived, Nasukawa released the following statement on Instagram (translated via Google Translate):

“It was a challenge to fight with being said to be reckless. Although the result has been knocked down I do not regret it. I did not reach Mayweather at my own 20 years. In case.

“But I came out with courage. In case. Thank you very much, Mayweather players who fought. In case. Thank you very much for everyone who supported me.

“In case I could not shape your thoughts, but I will continue to challenge from now on. Everyone, thank you again this year. In case.”

It was an amazing performance from Mayweather, who came out very aggressive, which is uncommon for the 41-year-old. Also, “Money” claims he didn’t even have a training camp for his fight with the Japanese star, making his performance all the more impressive.

However, his lack of preparation was likely due to the fact that, regardless of the result (win or lose), it would not affect his perfect 50-0 boxing record. Perhaps even more impressive, Mayweather claims he made nine million dollars for his destruction of Nasukawa in Japan.

Floyd Mayweather had no trouble making quick work of Japanese kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa at RIZIN 14 on New Year’s Eve.

Mayweather was the bigger, stronger, and more experinced fighter heading into exhibition with Tenshin. And according to the 50-0 pugilist, he did very little training for this fight.

“Did I have a training camp for this fight? No,” Mayweather said during the post-fight press conference via Bloody Elbow. “I went to the gym a few times and moved around with Daquan (Mays), a young champion on the rise. Now, I’mma call him a champion now — he could be a champion, which I believe he can, with experience, and if he listened. He’s young, he has a lot to learn, but he will be okay.

“I’m just happy he was able to move around with me, just a little bit, just to get the kinks out, so I can come out here and perform for you guys.”

Many fans have criticized the fight saying it was fixed. Regardless, Mayweather dropped the 20 year old three times and finished off the kickboxer in under one round.

In typical “Money” Mayweather fashion, he then went on to flaunt his earnings.

Tenshin Nasukawa will be Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s next challenger.

The kickboxing star and undefeated boxing legend will step into the cage for the RIZIN promotion. It’s set to go down from the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on New Year’s Eve. Mayweather vs. Nasukawa will headline RIZIN 14. Speaking to media at his family’s Teppen gym in Northern Japan, Nasukawa spoke of his interactions with Mayweather.

Nasukawa sounds to be annoyed with “Money,” who he says he wants to kick (via ABS-CBN Sports):

“I can change the world with my fist,” Nasukawa said. “I sensed no aura about him. He says such provocative stuff I feel like kicking him. He is the best so I can’t let my guard down.

“I’m sure his punches are fast but I’m sure I can see them. I feel excited, although some days I still feel afraid. But when the day comes, I want to fight with confidence.”

Nasukawa and Mayweather will compete in a three-round exhibition bout that will not count on their combat sports records. Also, Nasukawa will not be able to use, arguably, his greatest weapon – his kicks. Instead, they’ll fight in a bout with only punches being allowed.

Perhaps Nasukawa could be the one to finally best Mayweather inside the ring. Whether he does or not, however, it won’t count on either man’s overall record.
