Well-known boxing analyst Max Kellerman has been very vocal in regards to his opinion on how UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will do against the legendary Floyd Mayweather in their Aug. 26 boxing match.

Simply put, Kellerman feels as if McGregor has a ‘zero percent chance’ to beat Mayweather:

“No,” Kellerman said on the Desus & Mero show when asked if McGregor has a chance against Mayweather. “It’s like, you know, if they were competing in the Octagon, Floyd would have no chance. They’re in a boxing ring. Conor has a zero percent chance. Precisely zero percent. They’re in a boxing ring. Conor McGregor, there’s no universe in which he can win.”

McGregor’s mixed martial arts resume speaks for itself, but he’s never competed in a professional boxing match, which is why Kellerman is counting him out:

“I mean, even the thought of it – if Conor McGregor was like a decorated amateur and they built him up, you know? He had a four-round fight, a six-round fight, this…then after fifteen fights he was like 14-1, and then fought a contender – even if he lost to the contender, right? But at least he held his own over ten rounds, it usually takes about 5 or 6 years to build a guy like that out of the amateurs,” he said. “Then he would have a chance to win a round against someone half as good as Floyd Mayweather. But you’re gonna turn pro after not being in a boxing ring competitively for how many years? And fight one of the best pure boxers of all time? It doesn’t matter that he’s (Floyd) 40 or whatever. If he was 60 it wouldn’t matter.”

Kellerman even went as far as to say that Mayweather, who isn’t necessarily known for his power, could knockout McGregor:

“Of course. It depends on how many risks Conor wants to take. If Conor takes risks, he gets knocked out. If he plays it safe he goes the distance.”

What do you make of Kellerman’s comments?

There has been much debate within the combat sports world regarding the video of Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi sparring that was released by UFC President Dana White.

Ahead of his Aug. 26 mega fight with Floyd Mayweather, McGregor brought in Malignaggi as a sparring partner, and him and his team have claimed that he scored a knockdown on the former world champion, although Malignaggi claims it was a push.

Tom Taylor, a licensed California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) boxing referee and judge, spoke with MMAFighting.com on the matter, and said he ‘wouldn’t argue it either way’:

“I can’t tell you how I would have scored it live,” Taylor said. “I may have called it a knockdown, because the last thing to land was a short right hand to the side of Paulie’s head. That could still constitute a knockdown.

“It’s a judgment call and I think it could go either way. I wouldn’t argue it either way if a referee said it was a knockdown or no knockdown.”

While he admits that it looked like a knockdown, Taylor said that after watching it time and time again, he would’ve labeled it ‘no knockdown’:

“Live, it looked like a knockdown,” Taylor said. “The first time I looked at the video — that quick six, seven seconds — it looked like a knockdown. But when you slow it down, you can see how he has him held down behind his neck, behind his head. Paulie pulls up and [McGregor] lets go, [Malignaggi’s] momentum is taking him. And then there’s that short little right hand that lands.

“So it would definitely be a judgment call right then and there. But looking at this video, I would say no knockdown.”

In the end, regardless of whether it was truly a knockdown or not, Taylor admitted that he was ‘very impressed’ with McGregor’s performance:

“I’ll tell you, I was very impressed,” Taylor said. “He surprised me. He surprised me with some skills, he surprised me with how he put his punches together, his combinations. Absolutely. It was much better than I anticipated what I thought I might see, if that makes sense.”

It’s no secret that Conor McGregor will earn the biggest payday of his life when he takes on the legendary Floyd Mayweather on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada, but up until now, it hasn’t been made clear just how much money he’ll take on.

In a recent interview with MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani, however, McGregor revealed that he’ll ‘clear the $100 million mark’:

“I will clear the $100 million mark. 100-percent,” McGregor said. “If it clears Pacquiao numbers, which it will, which in my mind it already has, it will be $100 million. Factor the gates, factor the merchandise sales, factor all the pies that I have my hand in. I will clear the $100 million mark.”

Many expect the fight to do extremely well from a financial standpoint, which is no surprise given the promotional skills of both McGregor and Mayweather, but the Irishman feels as if much of the promotional work has landed on his shoulders.

Because of that, McGregor plans on taking what he’s ‘owed’ once the fight is over:

“It’s been all me, and that’s it, and I will collect every single dot on this. I mean on everything, the food, the beverages, the gate, the pay-per-view, the whole lot. When this fight is done, I will sit back, I will collect my show money, and then I’ll go start counting everything else and getting into that $100 million range and taking what I’m owed. And then we will see what’s next after that.”

Are you surprised to hear that McGregor will likely make in excess of $100 million?

Ahead of the biggest fight of his life, and Aug. 26 boxing match against the legendary Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor didn’t know how he would react to preparing for a fight with his newborn son now in his life.

Just weeks away from the fight, however, McGregor revealed that his son has only given him more ‘motivation’ in training camp:

“He’s been a great motivation this camp,” McGregor said yesterday (Fri., Aug. 11, 2017) at his open media workout live from inside the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. “I’m in awe of my little boy. I’m in awe of him. Comparing images the other day, and he looks exactly like me. I’m very happy about that.”

McGregor last competed at UFC 205 in New York City last November where he brutally knocked out Eddie Alvarez to become the UFC lightweight champion. The win also made McGregor the first fighter in promotional history to hold two titles at one time. After the bout, however, the Irishman revealed the news regarding the birth of his son, and announced that he would be taking some time away from the sport.

Now that he’s back in the midst of things, the “Notorious” one admits that he’s looking forward to sharing his accomplishments and his journey with his son in the future:

“That’s one of the things I look forward to the most,” McGregor said of reliving his fighting career when he shares with Conor Jr. “To show him back my whole career, this crazy journey I’ve been on. And to show him all the hard work and sacrifice that I’ve put into this. He will come up surrounded by many luxuries, but he will always know that it’s hard work that achieves this. In order to achieve great things in this life you must work hard, and that’s the message I will give my son.”

How do you expect McGregor’s fight with the undefeated Mayweather to play out on Aug. 26?
