The talks of a potential fight between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather continue to roll on.

Although it’s unclear as of now whether or not the fight will ever actually take place, reports surfaced earlier this week indicating that it could happen sooner rather than later. If the stars were to meet in the squared circle, McGregor feels as if he would get the better of the former pound-for-pound king, and the brash Irishman feels as if he would do so in dominant fashion:

“We’re talking about boxing. That’s it. But again, age waits for no man,” McGregor said about Mayweather when speaking to GQ. “He’s 40 years of age. He’s a little, he’s got a little head on him. Honestly, my fist is bigger than his head.

“I sleep people. I put people unconscious. I’m stating facts. If I hit that man, his head is gonna go into the bleachers. You understand that? If I crack that little head of his, it’s gonna go clean off his shoulders and up into the bleachers.”

Not only is McGregor willing to go toe-to-toe with Mayweather, but he also said that he has no problem ‘slapping the head off’ of any of “Money’s” previous opponents:

“I mean, that’s the one that everyone wants, that’s the one that makes the most sense. But I’ve no problem going and slapping the head off one of his opponents that he couldn’t finish,” McGregor said. “All he does is decisions. He can never stop them.

“So all I have to do is pick some schmuck out that he only could decision, bounce the left hand off his dome, sleep him, and then there you go: It’s already done.”

If Mayweather and McGregor actually get a deal done, would you give the “Notorious” one any chance of beating “Money”?

Following yesterday’s report that Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather had reached a staggering agreement on their proposed super fight, which both Mayweather and UFC President Dana White shot down, “The Notorious” hopped on Twitter to call out the boxing great in an effort to get the hype train rolling even more.

Now Mayweather is back with his own response, and it seems to be quite simple. Apparently done with the games, Mayweather told McGregor and his team to finish their business with the UFC and get ahold of his team this morning:

That would seem like the clearest course of action to signing this monumental bout, and Mayweather has laid down a simple gameplan for doing it.

However, as we witnessed with his long-rumored fight with Manny Pacquaio that took so long to negotiate both fighters were out of their prime, reaching a mutually beneficial agreement with ‘Money’ and his management is never an easy thing.

The UFC obviously stands as a huge roadblock in the way of getting the superfight signed, and Mayweather knows it. Is this just another made-up bunch of hype, or will this fight actually happen like it seems to be progressing?

Conor McGregor Tells GQ He’d Punch Floyd Mayweather’s Head into the Bleachers

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has insisted he would knock Floyd Mayweather‘s head “clean off his shoulder” and “into the bleachers” if the two were ever to go toe-to-toe.

Speculation has raged recently about a potential showdown between McGregor and Mayweather, who retired from boxing in 2015 with a perfect 49-0 fight record. When asked about the prospect of coming up against the man known as Money, the UFC sensation was adamant he would knock him out.

“Honestly, my fist is bigger than his head,” he told GQ (h/t TMZ). “I sleep people. I put people unconscious. I’m stating facts. If I hit a man, his head is gonna go into the bleachers. You understand that? If I crack that little head of his, it’s gonna go clean off his shoulder and up into the bleachers.”

As we can see here, the two men have done little to quell the speculation with their recent social media activity:

Per Sky Sports, there have been a throng of reports suggesting a bout is close to happening. It’d see McGregor trade the Octagon and MMA for the sweet science; in December, the UFC champion successfully applied for and was issued a boxing license to fight in California, per Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.

However, it’s been reported UFC chief Dana White messaged ESPN’s Brett Okamoto and insisted “no deal is even close to being done.”

McGregor is not wrong about his ability to “sleep people.” In his professional MMA career, the Irishman has won 21 of his 24 fights, with 18 of those victories coming inside the scheduled distance; in his most recent bout he stopped Eddie Alvarez in the second round to win the lightweight crown.

Going up against Mayweather in a boxing bout would pose a testing and unfamiliar challenge for Notorious, though.

With that in mind, Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports in unsure why the prospect of the two men meeting has generated so much buzz:

The lucrative nature of the fight is one potential reason; it’s been suggested any showdown between the pair would be worth an estimated $1 billion.

Mayweather was imperious in the ring during his time as a professional boxer, consistently nullifying opponents with his supreme defensive skills and counter-punching ability.

Subsequently, if the two were ever to come face-to-face in a boxing match, Mayweather would fancy his chances of avoiding any of McGregor’s best shots and be a massive favourite to come out on top.

Talks of a potential super fight between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, which have been ongoing for nearly a year now, reached new heights today when a report surfaced indicating that the two stars had reach a verbal agreement for a bout.

UFC President Dana White and Mayweather then responded to this report, however, making it seem as if the news wasn’t true.

The day was certainly filled with many rumors and a plethora of speculation and to end it off, McGregor, who happens to be in Las Vegas, took yet another shot at Mayweather on social media:

I am in Las Vegas. Floyd has retired on my arrival.

McGregor hasn’t competed since brutally knocking out Eddie Alvarez to become the 155-pound champion at this past November’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Mayweather, on the other hand, has been in a retirement since scoring a unanimous decision victory over Andre Berto in Sept. 2015. Prior to that, he had outpointed Manny Pacquiao in May 2015 in a fight that turned out to be one of the biggest in boxing history from a financial standpoint.

Do you expect Mayweather and McGregor to ever actually lock horns, or will the rumors continue to be nothing more than just that: rumors?
