Tito OrtizTito Ortiz will go after his first win since October 2006 when he meets Ryan Bader at UFC 132.

The two fighters confirmed the bout on their Twitter accounts, including Ortiz saying it was a fight UFC president Dana White wanted. The matchup was first reported Monday by MMA Weekly.

Ortiz, a former UFC light heavyweight champ, was scheduled to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the main event of the UFC’s Fight Night 24 card on Spike TV in Seattle this Saturday. But he was forced out of the bout several weeks ago when he suffered a concussion and cut while training that required more than 20 stitches to his head. Phil Davis stepped up and will face Nogueira on Saturday.

Tito Ortiz wants to fight Forrest Griffin in his next fight. After pulling out of his main event fight against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira later this month thanks to a training injury, Tito Ortiz said he will be ready to fight again later this spring – and wants a trilogy fight with Forrest Griffin.

Ortiz, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, was scheduled to face Nogueira at the UFC’s Fight Night card in Seattle on March 26. But last month, a cut suffered in an accidental sparring headbutt required 22 stitches. On Monday, he told Ariel Helwani on “The MMA Hour” losing training time for an opponent of Nogueira’s caliber would be a crucial setback.

“I just got the stitches out at the end of last week, and I’m not able to wrestle for another week and a half,” Ortiz said. “I can’t take three weeks off and (be prepared) for Nogueira – it’s impossible to do. So I had to pull out of the fight.”

And White said the Philippines, in southeast Asia, could be the first country outside the United States to host a version of the reality competition.

“This year,” White said, “I’m pretty sure the first one’s going to be the Philippines.”
